A2A is set in London whereas LoM was set in Manchester (GMP = Greater Manchester Police). and Joseph Long has been in two DW episodes, Turn Left as you said and he also played The Pope in Extremis. Also did you notice that Alex Drake was name dropped towards the end of the last episode of LoM when Sam was back in present day. Viv isn't technically the new Phyliss as she was a WPC whereas Viv is a Sergeant which is a higher rank to Phyliss.
