Annie, and later Gene, were dressed up as Tufty the Squirrel which was - along with various other characters based on British wildlife - a road safety initiative aimed at kids in the 70s. I should know, I was in the Tufty Club! I don't remember being confronted with anyone wearing that terrifying outfit but there were school talks and TV commercials and, sadly, I still have my membership badge! It must have worked, I've made it to my 50s without ever being run over! Good episode, great reaction as always, cheers!
