Watercolor postcards: 1 goofy pun and 2 pretty buildings

This "Dragon Drop" postcard was a collaborative effort with my partner Naomi. (She's working on making an app, and yes this was based on a true story.) I don't remember how we divided up the initial pencil-drawing phase of this postcard. But I know Naomi drew herself--she's good at drawing expressive hands--and colored the "real world." I inked and colored the dragon cave. Naomi came up with the bats, and the contents of the dragon's hoard, and I borrowed fantasy-Naomi's pose from the Bastian/Falkor sequence in The Neverending Story. The result is hopefully a seamless and adorable blending of our styles!
This next postcard is a grocery store [recently-closed, I believe] in southeast Portland. I biked past it when I was not-quite-lost en route to a friend's house, so I looped around and drew it on the way home. There was a bee hovering around and it really seemed to like me, so I took some photos, went home, and colored the postcard there.
Even if I wait to break out the watercolor set til I get home, I like to draw these postcards onsite. It feels easier to compose the drawing while I'm looking in person. Looking at reference photos is helpful for remembering details, but I never feel like I captured what made me want to draw it.
