I love how Barry writes Erwin. The story would be so much less interesting if he were either a reliable ally or a straightforward antagonist! Instead, Lillian's career opportunities seem to depend on the whim of a self-serving colleague who is taken more seriously by her editor. It feels more interesting AND more realistic to me.

Also, great news: I was able to go into the theater and use their schmancy printer! So now pages 128-132 are printed lightly on Bristol board, ready for inking. With that step of the process done, I can start posting finished pages again soon!

Here are some watercolors I've been doing in the meantime:

This is Books With Pictures, our local comic shop. (They're still open for delivery and curbside pickup!) I sketched this on-site, and inked/painted from a photo.

The Turnback Boyz!

This was a Daily Challenge for the theater (Draw Your Favorite Character). As a personal challenge, I decided to do a watercolor without drawing outlines in pen (like a "real" painter, haha). This is a photo of the Baker and Baker's Wife from the 1991 recording of Into the Woods.
I can't corroborate this, but I remember watching it on PBS as a kid and A) feeling smart that I already knew the stories of Jack/Cinderella/Little Red/Rapunzel, B) having my mind blown when Cinderella stops on the steps of the palace to sing about having mixed feelings, instead of just walking through the fairy tale, C) getting totally broken by Act II, where "Happily ever after" has consequences and things fall apart. Anyway, this show was mega-influential for me!
Please share in my delight that when I posted this on Twitter and tagged Joanna Gleason (the original/best Baker's Wife), she replied: "I love this!!" I am squee-ing forever and I love the internet.

Thanks as always for the support!
