Hi Patrons,
Believe it or not, we've reached the end of Issue 4, and the beginning of convention season! Barry and I have had a couple of story meetings, and the next segment of the script is in progress, and (especially after this conference!) I'm excited to start drawing the next segment of Lillian's story when I get home.
We had a great conversation at the panel on Creating Queer Historical Comics. Our comic output encompasses (left to right) autobio comics about activism in Orange County in the '90s, sometimes-fantastical often-Victorian fiction, thoroughly-researched historical biography, and SuperButch, so we had a lot of different perspectives about research, authenticity, purpose, etc. We tried to record it on a couple of phones, so hopefully we'll be able to upload a recording for you!
Queers & Comics is more like an academic conference than a comic convention, in that the cartoonists could spend all weekend going to panels and discussions, rather than sitting behind a table trying to sell their work. I took notes during the rest of the conference, so I hope you find these interesting/enjoyable:

Falling through the Cracks: Finding Space for Trans-Masculine Creators

Humor in Comics: Whose Limits?
(Apparently my childhood diet of Judaism, parody songs and MAD Magazine was NOT unique! )

Drawing Queer Sex: Our Place in Erotic Comics

That's all for now; talk to you soon!
