In my original script, I had Lillian saying "Let's cut the bullcrap." But "bullcrap" clanged on Becky's ear, so she went searching for expressions meaning B.S., and found "banana oil." We both instantly loved that expression. A quick research dive to make sure the expression existed in the 1940s (it did! It originated in flapper culture in the 1920s), and the script was changed.
Also, I've both drawn my own comics, and done this comic with Becky handling the drawing. So I can say from experience that "let's put eight teeny tiny panels on this page" is much easier when I don't have to be the one drawing the teeny tiny panels in question. Who knew?
(But seriously, I love the way this page came out!)
