Agree, I think the new writer has a lot to do with it. She never wrote for Doctor Who before it even any sci-fi, I believe she was working on soap, so very glad she finally landed with us on Doctor Who ππΌ Jodie was finally given real meat to act with

2021-06-02 20:23:05 +0000 UTCOh look, it's my favourite Jodie episode! This felt like a Big Finish story come to life, namely 'The Chimes of Midnight' with the moving rooms within the house. I actually really enjoyed the companions in this story and their interplay with the guest characters. That one guy (his name escapes me atm) who had a thing for the Doctor was so entertaining, one of the few genuinely funny and charismatic characters the Chibnall era has had. In amongst all this, Jodie herself gave by far her most confident and commanding performance as the Doctor. She finally showed some fire and authority with the way she confronted the lone Cyberman and her speech to the companions at the end. I really liked the darker side to her in this episode, it was much needed. Interesting that she was forced into the position of giving up the Cyberium. The Doctor's actions are what shapes the future and possibly, destroys it! We've seen this done before (the S1 and S3 finales), but it'll be interesting to see what they do it with here...
