I love that Kraft was reintroduced before Ubel was named, like yea she’s definitely dangerous by our standards through Kraft and she’s clearly a badass (I love her)

2025-10-22 03:57:35 +0000 UTCI've heard many people say they're surprised that no one recognizes Frieren, but if you think about it, it makes sense. World War 2 was roughly 80 years ago, which is the same length of time as the Demon King's death to the present time in the show. Audie Murphy was a soldier in WW2, and was widely celebrated as the most decorated combat solider of WW2, and has been described as the most highly decorated enlisted soldier in US history. But if you ask any random person on the street today who he is, probably only those 60+ or older would reliably remember his name, and that's mainly due to him ALSO being a movie star after his service in the US military, which kept his name famous for years after his service. Frieren, as we've seen, is fairly low-key and secretive as to who she is. It wasn't "Frieren's party" that defeated the Demon King, it was "Himmel's Party" or "The Hero's Party", so it makes sense that the vast majority of people don't know her name. As to her face, sure there's statues of her around, but unless she stands right beside her statue-self it's easy to believe people wouldn't recognize her, as she'd be just an elf. Elves are rare, sure, but there's no reason for people to connect "hey look its an elf" to "hey look that must be that one specific elf from the hero's party!" Btw, if you want to watch a movie about an absolute badass during WW2, watch "To Hell And Back" from 1955, which is based off of Audie Murphy's autobiography, and stars Audie himself. He actually initially rejected the role as he felt it would appear to be cashing in on his war hero status rather then honoring his fellow soldiers, and suggested other actors, but eventually agreed after being pressured by the studio.
