2025-07-10 17:44:25 +0000 UTCThe "explanation" for how Maple gets powers by eating the monsters is explained in the light novels. It is a HP Drain that not only causes HP damage, it prevents the monsters from regenerating the damage. It is normally used by WEAPONS to take powers from monsters and to cause lots of damage but the game designers kinda goofed up the algorithm. It became a secret "feature" of the game [aka a bug that they could not fix] that Maple discovered by accident. Oddly Maple has only really told Sally how it works. Most other players don't know it is an option and it takes a long time, especially if the monster is a really big one, to totally kill off the monster and take it's powers using HP Drain. It is a hidden imbalance in the game balance that only Maple abuses the heck out of.

2025-07-10 17:42:42 +0000 UTCAs to what happened to her armor/shield: That entire set has an ability called Destructive Growth, every time it breaks it auto regenerates and becomes stronger. So because of that bird, Maple got two free upgrades.

2025-07-10 15:45:53 +0000 UTCAs far as what the mods are doing to nerf Maple, I take that as a compliment to her because they never change effects, just limit their use because she somehow stumbles on niche skill combos that they never realized could interact so well with each other- That devour skill would be almost useless to most of the players but because nothing can ever really hurt her consistently it was suddenly op Same with just the poison resistance when she fought the hydra - she should not have been able to power level the resistance to immunity that fast, but she doesn’t get hurt and the game devs are trying to let her keep that but also limit the broken attacks she’s collecting 🤣

2025-07-10 02:34:06 +0000 UTCGreat reaction- around 17:50 you guys are talking about PvP stuff- don’t forget this game is only a few weeks old (came out in ep1 and sally had to wait a week for exams before she could play, and this is the second event so probably only been out about 10 days- the gap between top and new players isn’t crazy yet and very few people took extreme builds like maple Sally is one of those so she should be close enough to the player base since iirc maple called her the gamer between them and she is genuinely skilled (which we’ve already seen)

2025-07-10 00:30:07 +0000 UTCSo for the whole Devour thing. Maple is able to equip it to select pieces of equipment. She chose her shield and what it means is that she will automatically use it when she uses her shield and when an enemy hits her shield and she has any of her 10 Devours still. She has Hydra equipped to her blade I believe. From what I gathered to use a skill you have to call it up and wait a small bit for it to activate. By equipping it to something she is able to use it just by activating it. The reason she used up all her Devours on Silverwing (The bird) is because the defence, hp, and any type of skills the bird had countered what the Devour could take away. At the end with the game creators, it is basically that they have to nerf Maple because if the game balance is too unbalanced one way than there would be a lot of backlash from other players. Or there will be a lot of copycats trying to recreate what Maple did. Unfortunately this means nerfing to stop people from taking advantage. Creators try to think of everything that could happen in the game and ways players would try to take advantage, but they can't think of everything and so some things will crop up. Like I don't think anyone would believe a player like Maple would exist before watching this anime. The whole dynamic that come between the creators and Maple is going to expand so I will not go into a lot of it for fear of spoilers. One Manga/Light Novel that I hope becomes an Anime in the future is A Late-Start Tamer's Laid-Back Life. It is about a man getting the first release of a VRMMORPG, while he isn't one of the ones who enters right way he is in the first wave release of players. He enjoys a laid-back playstyle with cute monsters and he is like Maple in the fact is very unconventional. I recommend it because it is similar to Bofuri while being completely different.
