That chap at the start was the late,great Ronnie Corbett;who,along with comedian Ronnie Barker,made up the comedy duo of 'The Two Ronnies' - hence the Rani joke,and his catchphrase "goodnight from him". Actually,a lot of the jokes in here would probably be lost on non-UK viewers of the era. It's still kind of amusing,though.
