They weren't really that horrible, they were just ordinary and paranoid, another look at how bad humanity can be even though the Doctor romanticizes the race. Also to be fair to them, the enitity even said it, it gets in your head and makes you even more doubtful and suspicious then you would already be to turn people on each other, so it wasn't just the people jumping to conclusions on their own. And the professor, David Troughton, will show back up again with both the Third Doctor and his father.

2019-02-24 04:31:37 +0000 UTCThis is a nice little cost -saving suspenser;but I can't see it as a 'classic'. The Doctor's involvement is basically peripheral - he neither offers any explanation,nor saves the day. The events would have taken place with or without his being there. Nonetheless, it's a gripping little standalone. Note that the Professor was played by Patrick Troughton's son,David;and the episodes Director was Alice Troughton,who is.......not related, apparently.
