Agatha Christie! When she is good, there ain't no one like her! Tyrone Power, who played Leonard, was a romantic lead whose alcoholic addiction led to the early death of a wonderful talent. Marlene Dietrich was one of the great European imports to Hollywood, a fearless, sometimes scary actres. Elsa Lanchester, Nurse Plimpsel, was in real life married to Charles Laughton (our main character), and they were genuinely fond of each other - if you watch them in their scenes in "The Private Life of Henry VIII", you'll see more of their lovely fondness for each other, which at that time of history was complicated by Laughton's homosexuality. And of course we cannot, cannot forget the hilarious, priceless Una O'Connor as that angry pigeon of a housekeeper, Janet McKenzie. This is a perfect gem of a story and a movie, which actually gets better when you're in on the secrets.

The first time I saw this, I recognized Marlene Dietrich (Christine) as the woman at the train station, but I had no idea why she was there or what she was up to. Glad you enjoyed the movie!
