The disks Neo sells are illegal programs he has created, like software to hack a bank's security or a computer virus. When they offer to 'wipe this slate clean and give Neo a fresh start' they are offering to forgive his criminal activities like selling those program disks.

2021-04-11 03:37:53 +0000 UTCI would suggest against watching the entire MATRIX trilogy. No spoilers here but the quality of the storytelling degraded sharply. The first one was solid even if it did have a heavy load of psuedo-Eastern philosophy. The second one reminded me of reading the menu in a Scottish restaurant. It's just nothing interesting in any way. Bland, boring, over boiled and helped by alcohol. I think the third film gave me cancer.
