BUFFY 6x2 "BARGAINING: PART 2" UNCUT REACTION

Poor poor girl

The howl in the intro was only removed during this episode because of the streaming edit. Originally, these two episodes aired as a two-hour event and didn’t have separate episode 1 and episode 2 credits. I’m guessing they reconstructed an intro using the raw file of the intro theme, which doesn’t have any of the extra sound effects (namely, the wolf howl, and the wind whooshing noises right before Emma Caulfield’s credit / as Tara blows the powder).

Like when an initiate member of the Trad Wiccan community got themselves Warlock'd, and a lot of folks outside of that community were very confused, and it had to be explained to them that, "No, that is not actually a good thing; it means this person has done something so egregious that they are being publicly declared an unfit person, and an oath breaker, and are being denied all access or welcome to the community they harmed. Also idiots who think using the term 'Warlock' is some big reclaimatory language power move, when you've literally just announced to everyone that you are a deceiver who will break any oaths you give.

I know a lot of people have problems with Dawn being bratty, immature, and stuff like that but...how can somebody watch scenes like the final scene of this episode and not just feel that impervious sisterly bond that Buffy and Dawn have? Michelle Trachtenberg does such an amazing job both in this episode and the last (specifically Dawn crawling into bed to cuddle the Buffybot always brings me to tears). She brings so much longing to Dawn, who has lost the entire family she grew up with. She *needs* her sister back. She can't imagine continuing to live her life without her and that's just so obvious through not only the writing but Michelle's performance. It's one of my favorite performances out of anybody in the entire show, to be honest

Also still drives me nuts when shows use "warlock" as if it were the correct term for a male witch. Warlock is a derogatory slur meaning deceiver, NOT what a male witch is officially called. A male witch is called...a witch. Just like IRL, a "male nurse" is simply a nurse. I think Charmed had it right, though, the way they used the term warlock to describe the sadistic, evil witches in the Charmed-world, and in that world I think I recall that only women were witches, and that any men having magical powers was twisted and dark, therefore truly a warlock. Sorry, it just bugs me that warlock has morphed into being the "correct" term for a male witch when it really isn't. Oh, well, LOL, I suppose that's the way it is now. I don't know of any 21st century shows that use it correctly now, though I would be interested to know if there are. It's not a hill I'll die on, just a little mental annoyance.

It still makes me laugh every time, two of those violent and evil demons apologizing to each other for whipping chains and taking each other off their bikes when they tried to get Buffy. It's the apology that makes me laugh. I truly appreciate the attention to details, like the fuzziness of her vision as her eyes are returning to their pre-death state. Buffy's confused meandering. They didn't just have her pop up ready to fight in an instant, although obviously she could still defend herself when needed. I also like the dawning realization of Xander and the others that they were resurrecting Buffy IN HER DAMN COFFIN instead of bringing out her body first! What in the hell were they thinking, that the spell would have her materialize in front of them? LOL! That would have been a truly traumatic experience for Buffy -- for anyone -- waking up in a buried coffin.
