So true happiness for Angel is different than just feelings of happiness. That drug was not described as making him feel true happiness. That isn't what it was at all. And it's a drug. It’s not real. And this episode wasn't about him having true happiness at all and we weren't meant to expect that either. That's what they wanted and that was their plan but just because a drug can bring feelings of happiness doesn't mean he can't still lose his soul from real genuine TRUE happiness. This still hits just as hard

2025-06-16 19:10:42 +0000 UTCIMO I didn't think they really expected us to believe that Angel had a moment of true happiness. He was obviously spiraling into a darkness we've hadn't seen him go to. Even with Angelus, he had a different personality than the darker angel this season. I think what the writers were trying to do, was make you believe that Angel had been losing himself so much that him having sex with Darla could have caused him to lose all of himself including his soul. The lore on how he loses his soul wasn't super definite before, so this moment very much cemented the lore for sure. That's my take.
