The show had a direction to go, but the roadblock to that story is Willow and Oz. They ARE a perfect couple. So how do you destroy the perfect couple? In no way that makes sense. For this episode, Oz and Willow had to be VERY uncharacteristic in order to make them unperfect. Oz would never be like this, and Willow wouldnt be like this. Hella forced imo. 2025-03-31 20:09:10 +0000 UTCSide note that is not even remotely relevant to the Big Emotions of this episode - Veruca's mouth shape (or rather the way she holds/positions it) is actually part of what allows her type of sound. Was taught by my vocal coach that keeping your mouth rounded allows for a deeper, fuller sound. :P Alyson Hannigan's acting is stellar as always. I agree with you completely, her tears are so effective, I cry when she cries. She does heartbroken so beautifully it's devastating. She tries so hard to understand, trying to talk it through with him - every emotion on full display, conveying it so beautifully. This is one of the saddest episodes but also such a good one. Their acting in the goodbye scene is devastating - both of them. And that moment when you think MAYBE he'll turn around and go back - but he doesn't. He drives away. I also love the way Buffy's conversation with Oz went. Her demeanor was pretty perfect, I think. She wasn't furious and going off on him, but she made it clear she did NOT want to hear any excuses or justification for his actions. She was firmly, unquestionably team Willow.
