2025-01-15 01:31:05 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite parts of this episode has nothing to do with the actual plot or theme. It's the monkey, because that's a call-back to when Oz was telling Willow that the monkey was the only one of the animal crackers to wear pants. Then he said all monkeys are French, and at the start of the dream, Willow is speaking French. Just love that little easter egg! (Which is much, MUCH better than the bad eggs from the episode of which we do not speak.) Since Buffy didn't hear that conversation between Oz and Willow, it also highlights how Slayer dreams can hover in the grey areas of precognition and psychic connection, even if the dreaming Slayer isn't aware of what it all means, or what parts might have any meaning at all.
