I remember looking up reasons for why they built up the Annoying One in the past season only to kill him off here, and apparently it was because the actor would’ve started aging soon, so yeah, he’s gone but at least we got to see Spike just throw the plot point out of the door when it was starting to feel tiresome

2024-12-31 09:14:59 +0000 UTCSorry for all the comments, but now that we reached the end....Spike yoinked the cage -- and the Annoying One -- into the sun. It doesn't reach far enough into the factory to affect them where they are, but the cage was hauled up to the skylight. It was either a skylight or, since we didn't see any glass or hear breaking, the skylight was no longer there and it was just open to the sky.

2024-12-30 22:35:36 +0000 UTCHere we are! At last. Now there's going to be a slow-burn release of Buffyverse lore, and the writers find their groove, hitting more than missing. That's not just because of Spike, or James Marsters, of course, but this is the episode where we start to see ... something more, something bigger. There will be an occasional "lesser" episode now and then, but the Season 1 growing pains are mostly over. IMO, anyway.
