Warlocks come from demons and mundane. Shadowhunters come from mundanes and angels. Vampires are created through a demonic infection transferred by a bite and certain other requirements such as being buried within a certain time, beautifully demonstrated by Simon's turning. Werewolves are also created by a demonic infection through bites or scratches. Cleophus gave Clary the information about the soul sword before Clary showed her the rune
