While the content of this one can be kind of gross to me, I like the idea of this one. A weight loss clinic run by a being that devours fat is kind of cool. Feels very integrated, like “monsters” living among other people in modern day like everything is copacetic.
Sheriff Donna! Even in this episode alone, she’s a standout for me. She’s so pleasant, so nice, and the scene between her and the boys where she talks a bit about her past is great. I thoroughly enjoy the actress as well, I think she’s wonderful. Plus it might just be because of my being Canadian, but her accent brings me so much joy. That Minnesota inflection feels like home even if it’s a stereotype. I love it. Donna is just a treat all around, you betcha.
The actress who played Maritza also did a really good job here imo. Decent stuff from pretty much everyone.
I don’t know if Sam not doing the same thing if the circumstances were flipped has to do with him not looking for Dean, I took that as Sam saying he’d respect the fact that Dean would be ready to die and stay dead. Like he’d let him make his own choice instead of selfishly clinging to Dean to keep him around. Cause I think it’s pretty clear that’s why Dean wanted Sam to stay around. Sam did decide to stop the trials after Dean talked to him, but Sam didn’t make the choice to be possessed by Gadreel. That was Dean making a choice for himself, masked as him simply saving Sam’s life. The reasons for Dean not wanting Sam to die are understandable but tbh I find it kind of wild that Dean doesn’t get why Sam is upset about it. Just so much for fans to get upset about and claim things to be real in the characters’ heads. It’s a big mess and honestly a lot of it is unnecessary. Regardless, hope the brothers deal with their stuff soon.
Idk man. Stuff on both sides, as usual. The aspects in which they’re different always seem to get in the way of the aspects in which they’re the same.
The family business always seems to get in the way of the Family Business.
Alonzo the brother played a wrestler in Grimm, and funnily enough made an appearance in The Purge: Election Year. Briana Buckmaster as Donna is great. She was in a few things I’ve seen, but notably her first credit on IMDb is for an indie movie about wrestling. Also I’ve now realized that what I said earlier rings even truer because she’s Canadian! I don’t know how I never knew that. She’s from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. No wonder that accent speaks to my heart so much.

We love Donna!!! really hurtful words from Sam, he knows Dean's weaknesses and he's using it against him.
