imma say it right now, if that child had been a girl, Homelander wouldn't have cared as much. sure, maybe he would have been interested but not as interested as he would become later in the series. he probably wouldn't have regarded her as much either as a daughter or someone to go up against him as he does have a low opinion on females in general, so yeah the writers kinda had to make it a boy to drive the story in its dark route. side note: i have another thing to add to this once you finish s3
