the way this one literally scarred me when i was younger, it gave big ‘horror movie/slasher flick’ vibes, like take away the winchesters, make it just a family that moved to the country and the house is weird and a girl is running around inside it, and we learn more about where she came from, etc. and it’s basically a horror movie that could have a decent 70% on rotten tomatoes

I also really appreciate them showing how personal Dean takes losses in cases, now. Like he really is trying to make up, or balance out, the bad he had to do down in hell. Seems like a really realistic thought process, to me

I personally love this one, though,. I mean, there's some problems, but it was a unique case, to me

Yup, MOTW. I actually really like this episode though. The twist of her having a brother really got me the first time I watched it. There's something that really bothers me every time I watch it though: the dad basically threw food at them for a while until he eventually stopped doing that too. So how do they know how to read and write? And not only that, they spelled "too" correctly! Urg. I like them showing that it took another month for Dean to open up about hell again, it feels more realistic. I just like the way this episode is filmed I think. Feels spookier than other episodes to me. Poor Buster. Great reaction as always! Sending happy thoughts <3

This ep is a weird one. Honestly some of the stuff in it felt kind of unearned? Like I understand the guest stars’ characters are going to have a backstory, but it felt like they really wanted me to be invested in their story, and I kind of couldn’t give less of a shit about this family. Plus the woman playing the mother isn’t very good in this episode, I don’t know. Her acting is very un-emotive, and kind of has the same facial expression the whole time. I did care a bit more about Dean’s whole thing though, him connecting with people who turned into “monsters” because they were tortured for years. Other than that this episode is painfully average. The only thing that makes it stand out at all is that it wasn’t a monster this time. Yeah, guest starring is basically for everyone who isn’t the boys at this point, which is one of the peculiarities of this show that makes me smile. Unfortunately SPN isn’t like most other shows I’ve watched in terms of consistency of the relevancy of the episodes. Unless an episode explicitly ends with a “to be continued”, there’s no reason to believe the next ep will be connected at all. 😅 It’s something that I’ve oddly grown to love about it though. It’s a grab bag, but has the potential for some extremely good stuff, even if there’s a few mundane things in there too. The two I picked up on other than Dylan Minnette were the daughter being played by an actress from Zoey 101, and that the mother played a handful of DC roles, including centred around Supergirl. 17!

I read about that case too, I'm from Germany as well lol hi. I've seen Dylan Minnette in 13 reasons why, Prison Break and Don't breathe, you can't escape that guy😂 His band Wallows is pretty neat too

When I first heard (34:16) "story ripped from an austrian headline" I could not believe he just said that. I don't know how known this is in the US, but that was a reference to the Fritzl case ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7371959.stm ). It's one of the biggest known crimes in recent austrian history and it was all over the press (here) around the time this episode was made. Here in germany it almost became somewhat of a phrase to say "austrian cellar/basement" in reference to stuff like this. I definitely know the boy mainly from 13 reasons why as well. I've also seen him on one episode of Grey's Anatomy, but I think that's about it for me. In this show I don't think "guest starring" actually doesn't say that much of the importance of a guest star though. We got "starring" for the series regulars. Sometimes there is "special guest starring" for important/to the show known guest actors. And we have "guest starring" for the other people. The starring/(special) guest starring is always above the first name of that category and then the rest is mostly just the names afterwards. Technically that means the one with "guest starring" might be the one best known or a recurring guest star, because it's the first name in that category, but I don't think if they're all on a somewhat similar level it really says much. (oh wow didn't intent to make this sound like a lesson XD) Yeah, if there are one or even more plot driven episodes, you can pretty much be sure you'll get at least one motw ep next. Oh boy... this episode. That one line specifically made me rewatch that moment at least ten times, turning on the subtitles, staring at them just to make sure he really just said that. Hope you have a great day. Bex PS: I'm saying 16.

BexFangirl

Your face when you kinda recognized Dylan Minnette 😂

Mali

i do like when it’s just humans bc christ those things actually happen. but yeah, it’s one of those where you’re like “cool that was fun, different. ready for the next one though”
