Supernatural 2x18 "HOLLYWOOD BABYLON" UNCUT Reaction

I think this episode is adorable XD There's so many little references and stuff in it. Like Jared was actually in Gilmore Girls, which is why they leave the tour, and Jensen actually does that polaroid thing in real life. If I'm remembering right McG is actually in the crowd when the guy makes the announcement that they're shut down. I just love that they don't take themselves too seriously. The criticisms that the producers and everyone give the movie, "it's too dark", "why would salt work", etc., are actual complaints the producers had given for Supernatural, and they were poking fun. :p Dean is just adorable the whole episode. Great reaction as always! Sending you happy thoughts <3

Sorry meant for that being in the Heart ending, but glad you understood what I meant!

Yeah it helped show off bits of his character, just failed to progress the story which is okay. I agree with a few others on this being a skip on a rewatch tho

Jeremy Glenn

Yeah I can see why lol

Jeremy Glenn

Lol I was just told that he played a character named Dean on that show. That's too funny

Jeremy Glenn

Love that so damn much

Jeremy Glenn

fyi that tear of Jensen/Dean at the end was unscripted. It was because he got upset at seeing Jared upset

Natasha G

I got to say I loved Sams face when they are on the tour and the tour guide says the lot for Gilmore girls since The actor(sorry can’t remember the name lol) played Dean is that show as one of Rory’s love interest!!! Then he jumped ship 😅 #7

Hahaha. It's totally cool either way. And I agree with you too for the most part.

The meta stuffs great, no question, but before this Dean had three character traits. He was a horny asshole who loved his family. In this episode he starts to become more three dementional. Im sorry for me character development beats meta.

They really took a risk with this one and decided to stretch their proverbial legs a bit to see if it could work. For those who understand the industry Easter Eggs and the Hollywood tropes they were playing with, it works. For others, it's still a MOTW episode. Personally, I always liked it for the meta commentary, and appreciate it more now than I did when it first aired. But everyone is different and that's okay. That said, there are plenty of episodes in the seasons to come that would never have existed had that risk with this episode not paid off.

Vel

Yeah bit meh with this episode usually skip this one on rewatches lol

If you're implying that this episode was just about Dean and his character traits, then you missed the point too. Lol. It's cool to have an opinion, but there's a lot more to it than that. This was the first meta episode, and much of the script was written with exaggerated versions of actual experiences and occurrences with cast, crew and the writers/production team. And that includes Dean's character traits...they were written that way for a reason.

Another motw, but I think this one was a bit of fun. The consistent working of new shit into the script of the movie was eye-rolling the first time but made me laugh by the third. Dean goes full nerd, which is nice to see. Not too much to say, honestly. This ep easily has the most guest stars as of yet, but I think Croatoan was close. 17!

I think you missed the point of this episode. It s true that this is not a plot driven episode. Its a character driven one. It thrusts three major charicter traits of Deans to the forefront. The first that despite how he teases his brother Dean is a major nerd. He showcases all of his impressive film knowledge. The second being that he is a foodie. Before this we would see him eat but the show never had the chance to showcase the fever he ate with. The last is that Dean is a people person. We always see Dean being rude and insensitive in his microtransactions with other characters. But in this episode we get to see what happens if Dean gets to know someone past first impressions and is not overly atractive. He bonded with that entire crew. Not just names or faces but he had relationships and knew details about their lives. Impressive considering he only knew them for two days.

I think the first time I watched it it really made me chuckle how they held the shot on Sam, when they woman said "and maybe we will be seeing one of the stars from Gilmore Girls'. I knew Jared Padalecki from Gilmore Girls, years before I started watching spn. Funny enough Jared's character on that show was named "Dean". It got really weird in the german dub btw, with Supernatural's Dean's dub voice being the same as another character on Gilmore Girls, who was basically GG Dean's rival on that show. Though not the best Spn episode, a fun little watch. I love Dean playing P.A. Also that Gilmore Girls reference. Have a good day. Bex PS: a 12, please?

BexFangirl

in the beginning when dean and sam are in the golf cart thingy touring the set the tour guide mentions visiting the set of "gilmore girls" and that is actually a nod to jared (sam) playing in that show as a character to call dean.
