I never noticed on my first watch, but though we never saw him to get connected, they did mention Pastor Jim once or twice. I think in the flashback in 1x18 they said Dean should call Pastor Jim if John hadn't come back by a certain time. Not sure if they mentioned him again in the same episode, but I think there was at least one more mention in an earlier episode.
The amount of layers there are wearing is a popular topic to make fun about in general XD I remember someone mentioning it's because they were filming the show in canada and it wasn't that warm a lot of the time.
My two favourite scenes from this episode are the one when John and Dean argue about Dean not calling about Sam's visions & the scene at the end when Dean tells Sam him and their father are all he has etc.
Such good scenes.
Excited for the finale.
Have a good day.

Ooooof, I always just wanna give Dean a hug at the end of that.
Dude, I keep trying to write this comment but everything I write feels spoilery. Urg. I have so much to say.
One thing I can say is it always feels silly to me the way John ran away. Like he basically fast walks away when they discover the gun is fake. Seriously dude. RUUUUUUN. But nope, he just lightly jogs the other direction. It makes the scene super comical, I've never been able to unsee it. XD
Happy thoughts coming your way! <3

A nice penultimate episode, even if there wasn't a whole lot of action or mystery. I like the parallel of Dean pinning Sam up against the bridge in the pilot after Sam says their mom is never coming back, and the inverse happening here. And rip Caleb and Pastor Jim bro, we've heard their names a few times I think, but this is the first we've seen of them.
Actually getting to *see* the demon in such close proximity is super cool, I love how they were so close to their goal they could taste it. Gotta have that fakeout. Dean telling Sam that killing the demon isn't worth their (or at least Sam's) death is wonderful, especially after seeing him so gung-ho about ganking it. 🎶 I got you, brother. 🎶
One more mention about the recaps if that's okay (although I know you're probably well past the S1 finale). I think it'd be cool if you ended up skipping them like normal for the finales, but maybe watched them after the episode so they don't spoil anything? Somebody else mentioned that already I think. It's really only worth it from season two onward, imo. It's up to you of course, but I think they're worth watching, even if after the episode. The premieres are a little different, but I don't want to harp on about it, so I'll stop here.
Bro it's actually hilarious that you say that, Meg's accomplice's name *is* actually Tom. That's the credit the actor is given. I've seen him (sort of) in a wild movie called Stonados, it's insane. Also some reused actors as well, but that's sort of par for the course at this point.

In Something Wicked, when John was making little Dean tell him everything he was going to do, if he didn’t come back by a certain day Dean was to call Pastor Jim. So he’s been around awhile. And I’m pretty sure they mentioned Caleb as well. Can’t wait for the finale!!
