I’m in a completely different boat where I’ve seen the first like eight seasons several times, the first five or so even more, and the first I basically have memorized, but I’ve also never finished it, only ever making it as far as season thirteen, I believe. I’m curious how my thoughts would change if at all while doing a watch through with a community like this!

And yeah, the season five thing is because of the way the show was sort of planned out. Personally I don’t think a break is necessary vibe-wise, but any sort of break is obviously based on how you feel with whatever’s going on at any point, so all gucci. 🤙

2023-02-06 23:33:08 +0000 UTCOh I forgot some things (even though I already wrote a sht ton), just some tips to handle by your own liking: First of all somebody already mentioned the episode recaps at the start. And yeah the first and (especially) last episode per season recaps are very important for the vibe of the show (especially music vise), if you don't want to risk spoilers through those you could watch them after the episode (I've seen people recommending that to others before) or maybe someone goes through them and makes a list which first/last ep recaps are good to go. Also the opening credits sometimes tend to be very heavy on the spoiler front, so maybe try not to read the actor credits too much. And if you want a list with episodes that have special directors (there have been a few people who were on the show as actors, may it have been a smaller or a larger role, who also directed some episodes down the road), I'd be willing to make you a list for that. Lastly regarding the break thingy after season 5: personally as someone, who watched the show one episode per day (plus some small binges), I don't think it's necessary. Like with any show there are some gear changes throughout the show, but for me I don't think those are break worthy. I also know there are quite some people, who just watched the first couple of seasons or whatever, but I think you really don't get the full experience from that. A lot of my favourite things are relying on changes or new directions that happened at some point in the show, it's a 15 seasons show after all.

I hadn’t watched any of the big shows since the originals myself yet, so I mainly enjoyed the mcu reactions since then, but I absolutely loved the tvdu journey on yt and have been dying for this one to start ever since. I just watched the show for the first time recently (nov 2021-sept2022) myself so it's still very fresh for me, which makes me even more excited to rewatch it with you now. I also have lists of my favourite episodes of each season, plus an episode top 10, a season ranking and a small character ranking from my first watch, so I’m also already prepared for season recaps, wrap ups etc. XD Even though I haven’t been around the spn fandom for long, I’ve been a bit of a sponge for all the trivia and fandom lore and so on, so might be throwing some of that (free of spoilers of course) around at times. But I’m also excited to maybe learn more from the more knowledged people in the comments. Also I don’t know if I ever mentioned this, but I wore my jerbear merch, when I went to my very first Supernatural convention last year, so the majority of my photo ops have that shirt. Since the con was in Paris it didn’t have Jensen or Jared, but it still had some fun and cool guests. Regarding this episode in particular: The being afraid oft he darkness thing reminded me of my favourite quote about that (don’t know if it’s from something or just a saying in general): you’re not afraid of being alone in the dark, you’re afraid of actually NOT being alone in the dark. A few non-spoiler things that are maybe worth noting imo, not to be that guy who writes an essay but here we are: - 🎶 Music is a major component of this show and establishing a vibe, so as much as possible (although I’m not the one who has to deal with copyright and stuff so I know it’s easy for me to say this) I would recommend not muting the music when stuff comes up to get the full effect (meaning while you’re watching; if it needs to be muted for the YT edit obviously nothing can be done about that). - ❓ As an off-shoot of that, there was a rights issue regarding the music used in the show that resulted in royalty-free music (or just cheaper generic music) being used instead of the intended songs that were used when the show aired, but ONLY for the first season. It's all over the pilot. For whatever reason the issue was resolved for everything (afaik) after season one. Any original music written for the show is still there though of course, even in season one. - 🚨 I would heavily HEAVILY recommend skipping the recap for every episode of the show EXCEPT for the season premieres and finales; as much as I love it, this show is probably the worst one I’ve ever seen in terms of spoiling like “hey this is happening this episode, look look look look”, but the finales are TOP TIER for recaps, and I would classify them as required watching (see my first point, haha). I’m super hoping there isn’t much hinting or alluding or “you’ll like this character later” kind of stuff in the comments for this show, because with a show this long, there’s so much potential for spoilers. Also on a personal note I’ve watched some of this show but not all of it so I hope I don’t get spoiled either, lol. Admittedly I may still fall into the trap of reacting super happily to a character I like or something like that, but I’ll try to contain myself. 😅 Regardless if any of that was digestible or if it was read, the main point I want to get across is that I hope you get to enjoy this show whatever way you want to, no matter what anyone (including me) says about it. Godspeed, man. Welcome to the family business. 💚
