This was a big "trust-the-process" piece. Lots of planning and lots of unfamiliar techniques like the B&W thumbnail, all to have an easy time painting - and it paid off! Process-wise at least, all I had to do at the end was to render whereas I'd usually neglect the background until the very end, and then scramble to put something cohesive together.
Isn't it fascinating, how the lighting just changes the whole picture?
Looking at Step 5, and trusting it to turn into how it looks at step 6... I had to OVERCOME
