He had been surprised when middle management asked him to sign on a mission with Widowmaker. As far as he knew, she usually worked alone.

It paid very well, and considering Talon paid well in general, that was saying something. He took the job. The worst case scenario was always the same anyway, and getting shot by an angry femme fatale was probably one of the best ways to go out there was.

Ever since he had turned from dragonseed to dragonrider, he had been fighting Rhaenyra Targaryen's battles. He had helped her take King's Landing, and after folly after folly on her part, he and the Cannibal were the only reason she still held it.

It was time he reminded her of that.
