2025-07-31 16:05:56 +0000 UTCOne thing that will always confuse me is how different the anime makes Jasmine from the games, where she's more demure even back in the gen 2 games. I feel like her and pre-journeys Erika are the least like their game counterpart. Maybe the writers had a hard time working with Gym Leaders who didn't seem challenging on the surface back then, especially since this is before the days where important NPCs from the games got to hang around for a while before fulfilling their purpose. Jasmine at least got to appear more than other Leaders before her, but part of me feels that the reason Janina exists is just to prevent the show from having to develop a non-TC gym leader.
