I had never heard this song before - never seen the video. At the time, I was discovering 'VNV Nation' - and all of their music - which led me to 'Within Temptation' and another huge number of songs. So this was puzzling. I stopped - went to find the original song vid, watched it twice - and realized that I really, REALLY liked it. The video is also so very good! I loved this OSP Diatribe and have now listed to IT 3x. Thank you for this take on the song and your insights!

2025-09-06 11:41:06 +0000 UTCoh hEck so, i know Somebody (etc) fully by heart, but - it's the Walk Off The Earth cover (six people, one guitar, GO WATCH IT if you do'nt know it yet it's soooo good) - i don't think i had listened to the original ever before. yup, that means i hadn't seen the video. SOOOOO i just stopped watching the diatribe to see it (around 'generational masterpiece'— yes i get that you feel we don't *need* an extract here, but *still*!??) and. - yup still can't *actually* sing it because it makes me cry - omg i get the paint meaning now. … after a couple listens to the song a looong time ago, i thought 'wait. this guy presents himself as a ~sad sad victim~ but he was a JERK to her!?? WTF DUDE big narcissist vibes' and so… - oh yeah he's disappearing from her life but also from the narrative IT'S HER TURN i bet she'll get unpainted by the end. … she does. simple visual language but SO SO GOOD
