I really enjoyed Flow but I can't help but feel like it could have been released as a series of short videos on YouTube that makes theorists want to pick it apart to figure out the "deep lore"

2025-03-18 12:53:08 +0000 UTCI watched The Flow because the discussion of ot here seemed so interesting, and i want to get one or two thoughts just out of my head😅 which is mainly that i dont know what the tone is here. The most consistent feeling i got was a bunch of animalfriends being silly. But idk itf that was intentional, it mainky seems to want to give you a sense of grave danger. But for me it overall fails at that. It over and over again makes you feel scared for the cat and our animal friends... but then lets the cat survive at least three situations where she should have died or be at least wounded. Two of those i can suspend my disbelief for, because they are fallls, and if the animators had bothered to have the cat fall and land like a cat does it could have survived those, meybe even unharmed. but One of those was that the cat was just chilling under water looking around, for what felt like minutes, and she wasnt showing any sign that she neeeded oxygen to survive, not even when she finally got back to the surface. Thats where my suspension of disbelieve fully broke. She shoud have drowned. Like, the titular huge threat that is everywhere and dominates the life of these animals is proven to be moot. But tbh i almost enjoeyd the movie more after that, because i coukd just watch it as a string of random events.

2025-03-06 00:40:15 +0000 UTCNo kidding. The mentality that animation is 'lesser' than live-action (or a CGI imitation) needs to stop. It's how we get bogged down with all the Disney 're-makes', and it's especially painful in light of How to Train Your Dragon.

Anytime I have a proper deep-dish, I always think of Gravity Falls and Soos' birthday, where they had "cake-flavored pizza (and) pizza-flavored cake". (BTW: Cake-flavored pizza is cookie cake, and I will brook no argument)

2025-03-05 20:56:41 +0000 UTCI haven't seen Flow yet, but I will disagree on one point: the Best Animated Feature award at the Oscars doesn't exist to highlight animation. It exists to *ghettoize* animation, so the "real" awards like Best Picture won't go to a cartoon.

2025-03-05 19:37:31 +0000 UTC… posting a comment about the pod itself here bc otherwise i'll forget during the time it'll take me to find the right place to say that on the discord, but… … as someone who has been a Discworld and Sir Pterry fan for over half of my life now, how embarrassing is it that it took me listening to the pod and then several minutes after Red mentionned the Discworld itself to think about *Strata*!? … because that artificial version of *a* disc world, that was basically an early-installment-weird-draft version of the proper one, well… it actually is a Big Dumb Object. very big. very dumb. needs repairs asap. (i don't even remember how the story ends, i need to reread it! … maybe. see the aforementionned 'early installment weirdness' ^^° )
