I knew about Bucky being Winter Soldier because of Avengers: EMH (which is also why I was disappointed Alexander Pierce *wasn't* Red Skull in disguise 😂

If you're looking for audiobooks and hate coming to the end of a series and waiting for more, you might enjoy Donna Andrews's mystery series with Meg Langslow. They're fun, easy reads, the audiobook narrator is excellent, and they're full of humor and quirky characters without being too much so. There are 36 books so far, and she comes out with two new ones every year, so even if/when you get to the end, you don't have to wait too long. The first book is "Murder With Peacocks" and there is one thing that reading future books will spoil, but everyone but the protagonist sees it coming a mile away; the best one for you to start with is probably "We'll Always Have Parrots" which is set at a fan-run con. :-)

I think an anime fight that really stands the test of time is the manga/anime fight of Gaara vs Lee in Naruto. The fight itself is really dynamic and showcases their individual abilities and because you get the context of how Gaara has never been physically hurt and Lee has always straggled behind Neji you're on the edge of your seat as Lee slowly removes more weights and blocks and unleashing that crazy Lotus attach and it's crushing that it fail, because you aren't used to seeing that big moment fail, and the fact that it doesn't work doesn't make it any less impressive or heartbreaking that he made this gamble and lost. And his teacher jumping in at the end to save him and end the fight is perfect because it showcases the differences in these characters and their worldview and why that worldview exists. I found it so much more impressive over time when when I realized how well it holds up just on its own to other fights from anime in that same era.

Indigo you lie! It’s revealed that Teen is Wiccan at the end of Episode 4 and then they released official promos all about that immediately after the episode aired. He doesn’t show up in his costume until the “final battle” with Death in the penultimate episode, but the show tells us who he is almost immediately.

Yea when a movie has millions behind it and EVERYONE besides writers and those in charge of the story is doing a great job I almost feel obligated to be harsh on it

In the main episode you mentioned the sequel hook that Space Marine 2 ended with - that's not a setup for Space Marine 3, it's actually for the Warhammer 40k episode of that new Amazon Prime show coming next month, Secret Level. It's specifically focusing on Titus after the events of SM2. I'm personally hoping that Leandros turns up as well, if only because it'll be a whole new round of people taking the piss out of him online. :P Speaking of Leandros, there's a bit in SM2 that demonstrates that whole context discussion you guys had. That bit where you mentioned everyone having flashbacks to the first game when Gadriel said "The Codex Astartes does not support this action... but I'm looking forward to it." it wasn't just the fanbase having that reaction. You watch Titus' face during that pause and he's having that reaction too because everything Gadriel said before that pause is *exactly what Leandros said at the start of the first game before doing the same kind of aerial insertion*. Pretty sure it was even Leandros' very first line in the entire game. You add that context to the SM2 scene and you can see Titus thinking "Oh Throne not this shit again!" Fun fact too - the first game had a surprisingly high-end voice cast. For one; Titus in that game was voiced by Mark Strong.

Indigo’s “What are we doing?!” kills me

My mom introduced me to Hoopla and it's fanatastic! I second this recommendation.

I like them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I don't know if they really are "good books" but they capture the characters well enough. Only thing is the stakes are pretty low since you know that they can't harm the characters and they can't do much to upset their dynamic either, since everything has to stay in place for Serenity to hapen later

The whole "unrealistic expectations" thing regarding BG3 reminds me when Pokémon Sword and Shield came out, and Pokémon Company apologists were saying the same shit about Breath of the Wild.

Red, on the main pod you mentioned the joys of Libby contrasting with the long wait times for popular books. There’s actually another library card audiobook/ebook app that might be available to you called Hoopla, and it has NO wait times or holds! The only caveat is that you can only check out 20-something items per month, but the pros include instant access to ALL licensed audiobooks, ebooks, comics, PLUS movies and TV shows! Also the borrow time for books is 21 days instead of 14!

Are they good?

GOOD MARTIAL ARTS MOVIES DON'T DO A MILLION JUMPCUTS :< Baldur's Gate 3 DOES give unrealistic expectations, people from Larian have said that studios doing what they did would be madness, they almost went broke thrice, took forever, it was a real risk, not every game can be that even in the best working conditions. We should have higher standards for dev working conditions and games, but BG3 is not a standard we can expect of the result of said games. The ever increasing specs of consoles and PCs and technology only make games harder and more expensive to make, not easier and faster, because it also rises expectations. At this point i take it easy and don't worry too much, because unfortunately most sequels that i have been expecting lately have been various levels of disappointing (to slightly disappointing like Spiderman 2, which is only so compared to 1 and Miles Morales, to extremely disappointed with FF7 Rebirth). I was super happy with GoW Ragnarok, but that's a great conclusion to a story so i am more curious to know where it's going than actually feel a need to play it as soon as possible, i can wait for that. And Space Marine 2 was good too. Okay I lie, i am absurdly impatient about Sonic 3. But for the most part, my backlog is so long, that they are done when they are done and i play other things while i wait.

If a spoiler ruins a piece of media, that means it was made to be experienced ONCE, and then never again.

Hi Red, you mentionned that you liked Firefly but not the comics because they happen after Serenity. Did you know that there are 8 whole-ass tie-in novels that happen at different points before Serenity ? (most of them between Season 1 and Serenity)

Lilian Cartellier

You guys clearly don't have the same anxious anticipation for new book publications. I personally live in an eternal torment where I read a novel, read the prediction for the next book in the series, and add an unknown amount of time because the novels I am reading need to be translated into English after they are published

Luna Sol

Super agree with Red, if a spoiler "ruins" something for you then it was never good to begin with.
