Progress Update: 3/10/24
Added 2024-03-11 04:25:40 +0000 UTCHello everyone! Progress continues steadily on the video. Right now is the most dull part of the video making process from an outside perspective, I believe, since there are few obvious milestones to hit. Rather, it's been a process of building up information and bits of the script.
Despite the lack of milestone markers, this has been an incredibly satisfying episode to research because of all of the interviews I've gotten to have. Recently, I put out a call on Twitter asking for people who had participated in the Battle of The Baths to reach out if they were willing to give an interview or footage of the battle, and I've gotten quite a few respondents, including the person who made the video on the battle that inspired my video in the first place, a creator who goes by Robert LuvsGames. I've gotten more than enough B-roll footage at this point to make some satisfying action sequences, and I intend full well to do so with epic music. (Ryan's Halo influences are obvious in the work he's completed so far)
My favorite part of the process so far has been a pair of interviews I've conducted. The first was from a tanker who was in one of the tanks that eventually destroyed the Town Hall, and the other was from someone who was in the Town Hall itself when it fell. There were no contradictions between the two of them, and it was incredibly fun as each interview filled in the gaps of information that the other had left open. Both have allowed me to record the interviews, and I intend to cut their interviews together in such a way that they ping-pong off of one another, describing the battle.
I haven't been this excited for a video in quite some time; one of my favorite parts of video editing is when I have tons of B-roll and I get to just sit down with it and make something visually satisfying out of it, and I finally get to do so again. I was hoping for more of this from EVE, but unfortunately, the battles in EVE were completely inscrutable to the outside observer. Foxhole, however, is a different matter.
I'm excited to show you all what I've discovered soon.
Cheers,
Fredrik
