Canadian Michael Spavor is not a Spy!

I know this because he is an acquaintance of mine... I have been sitting on this for a long time, but now that he has been formally charged and I no longer pose a threat to his legal proceedings, I'm breaking silence:

I'm releasing this early to all of you here and look forward to your feedback...

On thing which relates to Michael Spaver's interest in North Korea, is one of the best books I ever read titled "Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea" by Barbara Demick of the LA Times in 2010. She had indeed been to North Korea, but this was not the focus of her book, as she naturally realised her minders were not going to allow her any contact with ordinary North Koreans, nor any discussion on the real and obvious issues. Rather, it was with six average North Koreans who managed to escape to the South. One thing that struck me, was the fact, that all, bar one, escaped via China, then Mongolia. Once in the latter, after due questioning from Mongolian border guards, they would be sent on their way to freedom in South Korea. However, not before completing a dangerous and torturous trek through the Gobi desert, where many would perish.
