Progress Update: 1/8/18
Added 2018-01-08 19:58:55 +0000 UTCNothing. I got nothing done.
Remember when I mentioned last Monday that I'd caught a cold? Well that very quickly turned into a sinus infection, and the pain associated with it was crippling. I was in bed almost the whole week attempting both to control the pain and prevent the infection from progressing into something even worse.
I'm really sorry, everyone, for yet another delay on an already late episode. I'm very much on the mend now, and the pain is almost entirely subsided, so I'm returning to work today. Twitch streams will have to wait a bit longer, though, since my throat is still in bad shape.
I think part of the reason this illness set in so harshly was because I was taking poor care of myself; often I would skip meals so that I could continue working and simply put off eating, and I typically haven't taken breaks throughout the day, even just to stretch my legs for a few minutes. I'm going to change these habits in an effort to prevent this kind of illness from happening again.
If there's any good news, it's that this delay will likely give my graphic designer time to create the timeline for this episode, which he otherwise wouldn't have been able to do.
I'll do my best to have this next video done, uploaded and awaiting approval for ads (because let's face it, that's just part of the process now) before the next progress update, but since I'm still recovering, I can't make any promises. If it isn't done before then, I doubt it will take much longer than that.
Also hey, great news: we've reached over $500 a month on Patreon! It's incredibly flattering to me that people are willing to support me even during a drought of content. I think that the wait will be worth it, though, since in my opinion, this is my strangest topic yet.
I also wanted to take a second to clarify something: I mentioned before that the Time Cube episode was a 5,500 word script, while this new one is 6,500 words. While this may not seem like much, my scripts are extremely dense, since I'm not generally performing analysis of my own and each new sentence provides new information. But what I didn't mention is that the 1,000 word difference is deceptive; the Time Cube episode quoted from Gene Ray extensively, inflating the word count, while this new episode has much more original information. So not only is this new script longer, it's also much denser. I hope that explains a little bit why the research and writing phase took so long! Like I mentioned before, there's tons of images and video on this new topic, so finding what I need shouldn't be a problem and video editing should move swiftly.
I'll see you next week, and hopefully I'll be back at 100%!
-Fredrik

2018-01-09 02:14:56 +0000 UTCCreating content is a marathon, not a sprint. You have to keep yourself healthy and paced, even when the story you are investigating is incredibly exciting and *just one more article* and you'll go for lunch.
