Progress update: Nov. 27, 2017

Hello! I just added an additional reward to the $1 tier: weekly spoiler-free progress updates. I think that this will be a good way to help me share my process and keep people up-to-date. This first update will be big, since I'm just a couple of days away from finishing and haven't been posting during the creation process.

It's been exactly one month since my last video, but I've been hard at work. I spent the week after the DigiHom Finale video digging into potential new subjects, and I came out with a nice collection of topics for the next couple of months. The week after, I began work on this one. The research and writing process took significantly longer than usual simply because the more I kept digging, the more I found that would drastically improve the episode. I originally intended this one to be a standard-length 20 minute episode, but this is looking to be more like 40-50 minutes, maybe a bit more. Despite the length, this is proving to be one of the most dense videos I've done in terms of information provided. The narration came out to be a total of 33 minutes on its own, but I'm including tons of source video and audio.

Up above, you can see the timeline in my editing program. The purple bar is my narration, so you can see just how much I have left to edit. I'm ending today almost exactly 28 minutes in, with about 8 minutes of narration left, but the majority of the source footage I'm including comes in the section I'm adding tomorrow, which will extend it far beyond what the remaining narration would suggest. However, the hardest editing is behind me: you can see it right around the nine minute mark, where the cuts are so rapid that you can't see the events when zoomed this far out. I spent considerable time adjusting exactly on which frame each event starts and ends, but the end product is well worth it, I think.

This video will probably go up this weekend, since it takes a few days for ads to get approved, but I'll begin work on the next episode as soon as this one is finished and I'll have an update for you next Monday. I hope you all enjoy this one, I think it'll be quite a trip.

Oh, one last thing: I got a few days behind in production because I got invited to do voice work for one of my favorite YouTube shows. As soon as that's out, you'll all be the first to know.
