Blender version

Hello everyone,
What version of Blender are you on.

Comments

I plan to move to 4.2 after completing the project I'm currently working on. There are many issues, but... well, I'll have to solve them gradually. I can't stay behind when everyone else is moving forward.

I hope they fix this soon as it is not something I can work around since it is built into the engine.

I usually use 4.1 but have just started trying out 4.2. I had to overhaul my shaders to work in 4.2. It's something to do with the number of samplers allowed in a shader, which from my understanding is a combination of the number of "mix" nodes in a shader plus the number of active vertex colours and UV maps. I ran into the same problem with 4.0 when working on a very detailed skin shader (ended up having to abandon it due to the limitations). The annoying thing was the the material preview viewport mode has the same limitations even in Cycles (shaders showing pink).

I agree. I do the same. 4.2 broke so many things that shouldn't have been broken. And some things like vertex parenting are completely broken which I use quite a lot. EEVEE also can't handle the same textures for some reason and a lot of them just go pink as I believe it now has a much smaller allowed memory limit. I hope they improve it. But I still have to develop for it as we have to always move forward.

I only use LTS versions. So I was using 3.6 and planned to switch to 4.2 when it came out, but too many things had changed and many features had disappeared. Especially the render options... The indirect lighting option was gone, completely ruining the render balance of my existing maps. I'm still using 3.6 because I don't know how to adjust for these changes.
