The iww was also the first union to allow members of any race from its founding in the early 1900's. At this time the AFL-CIO, just the AFL back then, only unionized "skilled labor". Lucy Parsons, one of the founding members of the iww, is a certified badass and had an incredibly inspirational life. If anyone is curious about the history of the iww I suggest checking out the book "Wobblies of the world: a global history of the iww"
