Volume 14 Chapter 30:

Volume 14 Chapter 30:

Jack and Coen’s group started to shout, “Keep going! Do not let up on the bear!” The group surrounded a trio of bears. Each one circled the bears with their horses; they continued to do so to confuse the beast. They couldn't read where they were coming from.

Swoosh! That was when an arrow came flying through, hitting them in the eye.

"Now!" That was when they all charged into the bears, piercing all of them. The bears slowly died down as they were motionless.

“Good work, everyone.” These past few days, they had been fighting monster rinse and repeat. There was a downside with such a large group; with more people, they would need to split the loot seven ways. Hunting for more monsters was a must.

While they rested, “Jack, you’re incredible.”

“Hmm?” The man was wiping the blood off his blade again, “I’m really not that great when you compare me to Keith or Krystal.” Again, those two were monsters. They could finish these bears in five minutes tops on a bad day.

“But those two are outliers.”

“It’s something that I learn from it.”

Jack was able to learn a lot being a winger for the team. He had to be one of the few people to react faster than the others; he was mostly a sub-tank/attack for the group. He was a versatile frontline who helped out the others in other ways.

“I’m more surprised you didn’t want to be the leader.” Coen tilted his head. To be honest, before Jack named him, he would name the other.

“Some people are best adapted to be a leader. That’s not me; I can only look at it through a narrow lens.” The leader was the one who called the shots from a grander perspective. Not only that, they had to predict the outcome even before it happened. Moreover, they needed to alter on the fly as well.

He wasn't someone who could do that. Gabriel and Faelyn might have been able to do something like that as they fought, but that wasn't him.

"I'll hand out tips, but that's the best I could do." That was what he did now; he made small adjustments while Coen cared for the bigger picture.

"What's our next move?" Everyone turned to Coen.

“Going to keep going with this formation. I want to have enough stones before we slow down."

"Why?" Helm tilted his head.

"We may have different criteria for each student on how they will pass." The class, in general, was split skewly in abilities.

"If we want solid grades for the final, each student might need a different amount depending on our class or another criteria they have."

“I see.” The beastman nodded when he heard, “I heard some beast roaming around from the side. Maybe we can go there and get some of the stones.” His job was to search for monsters for them to hunt.

"That's good." Coen nodded, "Then we'll head there once we rest up." Their horses needed a break from fighting for so long.

While that happened, Keith was still relaxed, but there was a slight scowl on his face. What is going on here? There was tension. A faint smell of blood waffled the air.

Despite going the opposite way of where the monsters were going, he still felt something off about all of this.

Numerous prints were on the ground.

What's going on? Keith blinked as he stared at them. There was no way they came back all around, right?

Whatever it is, it was big and large. I hope the others are alright? Keith would be able to handle it. But the rest, he didn't know about.

Krystal had the same mindset as she was riding her horse, and she had noticed a large number of markings on the ground. But instead of pulling a Keith and trying to walk away, she chose to follow after it. POints were more important in this situation. If she could defeat them, she would get some points.

While she continued forward with her plans, that was when she heard shouting.

“Keep running!” “Don't you dare let up!”

“Jack?” Krystal stared at the boy who was fleeing with all his might and he was not alone either as a couple of people were behind him as well. He couldn't help but be glad and worry about the situation that was unfolding, “Krystal, run for your life!”

“!” The woman didn't hesitate to quickly turn around and dashed the same way as them. The horses were going at breakneck speed to get away from all of this. She couldn't help but ask, “What is going on?! Why is there such a monster running after you?” What kind of hive did he poke to get such a trigger?

“Don't even ask us!” Jack wanted to cry as he couldn't believe that they had poke such a reaction from them as well. And they were running away with all their might. But behind them was something that was demolishing anything that came there way. Krystal frowned, “I doubt we'll be able to outrun something that's going that fast.” There was no way they would be able to do something like that.

“I know, but there’s something that I need to do.”

“What do you plan to do in this situation?” There was no way they would be able to defeat something like that. But that was too much as well. It was going to be getting strenuous.
