Sonic Chuubo Chapter 1

So, this one probably requires a bit of explaining! A while back I had a poll on here asking if people would like to read the logs of an RPG I GMed a year or so ago, with the instruction that I would require at least 70% positive votes to go through with it. Since we absolutely hit that, I'm going to start posting the edited and heavily curated game logs.

There's probably about 20 or 30 chapters worth of content here, so I hope people like them!

As for WHY I wanted to do it with this particular RPG, the reason was simply that it's Chuubo, a somewhat obscure narrative-focused RPG that has some quite obtuse mechanical progressions. When I was researching the game to GM it, I could find very little instructional material or examples of play so I hope this will possibly help someone who has trouble visualizing how Chuubo is played.

The basic gist of the game is to evoke something like old forum RPs, with people making a checklist of targets for themselves to hit in their posts, which leads to completing personal quests and advancing their own Arcs. It creates a system where the players have a great deal of control over how the sessions play out, although some players can really struggle to intuitively understand that concept as you'll probably see in the logs. It's fascinating, and I'm glad I ran it.

The basic premise is the party were a group of citizens in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe, who's home villages had been destroyed due to the war with Eggman. Now they are traveling around the countryside by train, visiting various villages to try to find one to settle down. It was very deliberately a low-stakes premise (what Chuubo calls a Pastoral game), although there did end up being a fair amount of action and epic robot battles regardless!

Anyway, you get the idea, hope people enjoy reading the silly stuff I write in my spare time.
