Not just 1 or 2... we are Legion

Dear VR fam,

It's that time of the month again. Are you ready for a new game? I know, I know, many of you are still busy killing clickers in The Last of Us two episodes, but there's no rest for the wicked, because London's calling :-D

Release 23 of the R.E.A.L. mod extends VR support to (you guessed it) Watch Dogs: Legion!

[UPDATE 3: Small fix introduced in v23.1.1 for the game not entering VR with AMD graphics cards.

UPDATE 2: Release 23.1.0 fixes the DLSS-related issues without the need to install a third-party mod. No more crashes when closing the map or starting a full motion video, and you can keep DLSS on. I also added a PPD custom resolution slider and patched the input module so the game won't get confused when you're using a gamepad but open the mod overlay using the Pause key.

Far Cry 4: Release 23.1.0 improves on the heuristics used to determine when the game can be patched safely. There should be no more patching/unpatching loops during gameplay, or at least not in the areas where they were reported until now.

UPDATE 1: The cause of the crashes with full motion videos has been found, and we have a solution that doesn't require disabling DLSS!]

What to say about this game? Actually, there's quite a lot to say. First of all, many of you who went through the first two titles in the Watch Dogs franchise asked if I could also make the conclusion playable in VR, so I'm glad to be able to provide that.

But is Legion a good game? Does it actually lend itself to be played in VR? My answers are yes, and yes. The whole franchise has been wildly underrated in my opinion, and especially the third game was the object of much undeserved hate. To be fair, Ubisoft had its part in attracting the negative reviews, because they generated so much hype for the game before release that even a masterpiece would probably have failed to meet the overblown expectations.

Yet, even after all that fuss, the title has its merits. First of all, London looks incredibly realistic, although wrapped in futuristic Cyberpunk-style neon, and in VR I spend half the time just staring at the architecture with my mouth agape. The other half of the time I'm busy with gameplay and missions, and there's where the game fails to deliver on the marketing promises. The "legion" aspect (being able to recruit and swap operatives with different abilities and personalities) doesn't feel so interesting or well implemented after a while, and most of the time I just select the team member who happens to be closer to the next objective. But the missions are solid, and there are plenty of magic moments, especially when controlling gadgets and drones. One example: piloting a laser-equipped microdrone through the perils of a motherboard in order to reach and destroy the cores feels so amazing in VR
[]-D

But before we start hacking with WDL, a few additional release notes for v23.0.0.

DOOM Eternal: I extended VR support to the "Play DOOM Eternal with mods" option. You can mix R.E.A.L. with plenty of third-party mods without issues (of course I cannot guarantee compatibility with each one of the more than 700 mods available, but I successfully tested several of the most famous).

DOOM: The Dark Ages: This release restores full VR functionality for the title after it was broken by the latest official update.

Higher quality AER v2: There were no issues reported for this improved technique (which makes the shimmering around moving things less noticeable), so from this version it is turned on by default and no longer marked as experimental.

Games list

As usual there is only one package to download, which enables all 38 VR conversions you can find on this Patreon. All titles support AER v2, which is my own version of frame interpolation tailored for Alternate Eye Rendering (see this post for a detailed description). Most of the games also support DL(S)SS, meaning that I fixed the DLSS implementation for them so that it will work correctly in stereoscopic 3D. And 5 titles even allow for Ray Reconstruction!!! Here's the complete list:

Please note that all trademarks belong to the respective owners, and that no copyright infringement is intended or condoned. And of course, you'll need to have a legit copy of the original games that you want to play in VR.

Setup

I developed and tested the mod for Watch Dogs: Legion using the Steam version of the game. It should work if you get it from other stores as well, but if you encounter issues please upload your RealVR.log file somewhere so we can try to sort them out.

Generally speaking, if you own a game in a different version than the one I modded, or the game just had an official update, it's always a good idea to take a quick look at the log. It's conveniently accessible from the mod overlay itself, with a search function. The usual symptom if a version diverges too much from the one I modded is that some patches will fail to apply (you can search for keywords like "patch", "error", "fail" etc.). If you give me that information, I might be able to fix it quickly.

Also, always make sure that your video drivers are updated to the latest version. That's especially important for NVIDIA due to a flurry of regressions in driver releases since the RTX 50xx series came out; we have now gotten to the point where new games refuse to launch if they detect that the driver version is not the specific one they were tested against :-(

Run WDL flat (not in VR) at least once, so that it can generate its config files and you can check that it works correctly.

IMPORTANT: Make sure that the graphics API selected for the game is DX12 (VIDEO> QUALITY> DirectX must be set to 12). The mod won't work at all with the DX11 renderer.

Quit the game and extract the mod archive into the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\WatchDogs_Legion\bin" folder. Note that you might need to customize the path if you moved your library or own the game from a different store, but it will always be the folder that contains the "WatchDogsLegion" executable file.

Finally run RealConfig.bat. It will perform a few required operations (including the v-sync fix for NVIDIA drivers) and preselect graphics settings that are known to work well in VR. Remember that running RealConfig is mandatory; if you omit this step the mod will not function.

At this point, the next time you launch WDL it should automatically display in your VR headset. Read on to find out how to get London to look astounding in VR!

Game options

Configuration for Watch Dogs: Legion is very simple. RealConfig will choose suitable defaults for the required Options settings, as follows:

in the GAMEPAD menu:

in the VIDEO> DISPLAY submenu:

in the VIDEO> QUALITY submenu:

in the VIDEO> IMAGE submenu:

Cutscenes

Most cutscenes are fully 3D and allow you to look anywhere without restrictions. There can be black bars above and below, which usually work correctly in VR and give that "cinematic" look without overly restricting your field of view.

A few cutscenes were prerendered by the developers and stored as movies; they will appear as if projected on a virtual 2D screen in VR. They are quite rare fortunately!

Resolution and frame rate

This time too, I was able to mod the custom resolutions needed for VR directly into the engine. Watch Dogs: Legion can deal just fine with the required square aspect ratios. You will be able to select the resolution you prefer from the game Options> VIDEO> DISPLAY menu itself, without any hassle. Just make sure that "Window Mode" is always set to "Windowed".

[New in release 23.1.0] If you want to squeeze out every last bit of performance though, making sure that the game aspect ratio is set to the optimal value for your headset FOV, you can bring up the mod overlay and look for a slider in the main "R.E.A.L. VR" tab named "Target pixels per degree". Set it to a value approximately in the range 15-30 depending on your GPU, then press the "Adapt resolution" button to set the game resolution to your preferred value. You can do that at any moment, even during actual gameplay; the target PPD you choose will be remembered and re-applied automatically across sessions.

The game runs pretty well on modern hardware, and you can choose to have beautiful reflections on the omnipresent glass panes and rain puddles (Ray Traced Reflections = Medium, High, Ultra) without having to pay the huge tax on frame rate that full path tracing entails. However, driving through the city can still bring your fps down, so in order to have a smooth experience the Render mode will default to 1/3 rate. You can also try 1/2 rate to get more fluidity and less artifacting, but you will probably have to leave something behind in terms of graphics options and resolution.

Just like WD2, this title renders distant terrain and buildings with the dreaded checkerboard dithering pattern, so they will never look perfectly sharp; however, DLSS does a much better job than older antialiasing techniques in resolving the dithered mess into an acceptable quality image.

Input and cameras

You'll want to use a gamepad to play Watch Dogs: Legion (XInput-compatible controllers like the ones from Microsoft are the best for my mods). Keyboard and mouse sort of work too, but there might be issues, like mouse clicks activating other windows at random or some entries in the game menus being unreachable with the cursor; thus, in order to have a smooth experience, using a gamepad is highly recommended.

Don't worry about console-player syndrome: in my mods aiming is gaze-driven and extremely fast, intuitive and accurate, so even if you're used to playing FPS with your mouse, give your gamepad a chance ;-)

Specific to WDL: occasionally the game might fail to recognize your controller inputs, or keep switching the button hints over to the keyboard version [this problem used to occur after you used the Pause key to enter the mod overlay, but that's been fixed in release 23.1.0]. If it happens to you, an easy workaround is Alt-Tab'bing out of the game and back, which will restore normal gamepad input.

HUD and gameplay

The Watch Dogs: Legion mod fully supports 6 DoF tracking, i.e, the camera will follow your head rotation and movement. There's a big difference from most other games in my VR modding collection though: "hacking" (targeting NPCs and world objects with your phone) is also gaze-based, which makes it very quick and intuitive, almost as if the game was a native VR experience. But that also means that the HUD is always headlocked, because to all intents and purposes you're constantly aiming, even when your weapons are not drawn.

The crosshair will remain properly aligned as long as you don't move too much (physically, in real life) from your home position. Of course you can always recenter the view, which in all my mods is performed simply by shaking your head "no" once.

All weapons should work correctly. I didn't find any rifles with telescopic sights, so I have not implemented any special fix for that case.

In the "WDL" tab you can change the world scale, from small adjustments to playing with dolls or giants, and even force the game to render to a 2D virtual screen in case you should find a section too hard to play in full VR.

Since some elements in the UI can sometimes be a little hard to read (in particular the classic Ubisoft tutorials that pause the game and display three captioned images side by side), you can optionally bind the 2D virtual screen toggle so that it's quickly activated/deactivated by pressing both gamepad thumbsticks. Another thing you can do is tweak the "HUD scale X" and "HUD scale Y" sliders in the same tab, with changes visible in real time during gameplay.

Camera

The game is designed to be played in third person, and luckily the camera position is not too distant by default. However, the developers decided to remove the first person driving camera that was present in WD2 (probably because they got some flak about the low quality of car interiors, especially the instrument panels).

So I recommend that you install the third-party "First person vehicle camera" mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/watchdogslegion/mods/43 ). It works very well, apart from a lot of clipping into your character's head. I fixed it for most cars by pushing the camera further forward; there might be some combinations of character's hair and vehicle model where it still clips, but you should be able to work around that by sitting a little forward while you drive.

Updates and known issues

Release 23.1.0: There should be no more crashes with prerecorded videos or upon closing the city map, and you no longer need to install the third-party Quick Start mod or to disable DLSS. I also added a target PPD slider and stopped the engine input module glitching between keyboard and gamepad after using the Pause key to bring up the mod overlay.

Nodes in network bypass minigames can often be flickering or completely invisible. It seems to depend more or less randomly on the angle between the node and the camera direction. Usually I can make the node visible if I look straight ahead (i.e., not craning my neck up or down), or if I rotate the world a little with the right thumbstick. There are only a handful of different node types though, so even if a node is not visible it's easy enough to understand what it does from the behavior of the red and blue lines connecting to it.

Once in a while, after a few hours of play, the HUD might begin vibrating horizontally. If that happens, you don't need to restart the game: just bump the resolution one notch to reset the renderer, then you can bring it back to the previous value and the HUD will be fixed.

[I'll post new information here as it becomes available.]

Have fun hacking the system with the most lovely British accents!!!

So sorry to leave you hanging man :( I'll pull my G2 back out and try tomorrow to compare logs. Pretty busy today with family stuff.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I still don't have any HUD in WDL. I tried anything i know and because this is the only game i have problem with that, i don't think this is a WMR problem. Any Ideas ? Please? https://pastebin.com/keKmQaeM

In Watch dogs legion the HUD is completely missing. When i switch to 2D everything ist there but in VR all of it disappear. Am i missing something?

Urs Heinzer

That is really odd. Can you put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin.com and post a link to it here please?

Brandon(Post Maester)

For Watch Dogs legion i can't stop Steam VR from starting up. My HP Reverb ist set for WMR OpenXR runtime.Any other mod works without problem but only this game forces steam vr to open

Urs Heinzer

And I tried Avatar again, first time with DLSS(S). Thats a gamechanger for this game. It is so demanding in VR but with DLSS(S) it's phenomenal. I really appreciate your work, Luke. Due to the lack of good native VR games you are my greatest source of good VR content. You do a lot to keep VR alive and I hope you keep it going and it pays out for you. :-)

bpatchesnet

Very cool. I just wanted to play something like GTA and then I remembered your posting. I prefer Legion because of DLSS(S) and Ubisoft just has the autumn sale so it's just 6€. Great deal. :-)

bpatchesnet

I tried both HFW and TLOU2 with Apple vision pro + Surreal Touch controller + StreamVR (Launched by SurrealLink (a fork of ALVR), and use OpenXR as renderer in REAL VR setting) + RTX5080. It seems the REAL VR mod render left eye image to the right side, and render right eye image to the left side. Is there a way to swap the images?

Yuzhou Liang

Did you go back and check the game's release post to make sure you're in-game display settings are correct? This one is the most awkward for settings custom resolutions and the opening menu. https://www.patreon.com/posts/happy-holidays-5-95061508

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hello I see only Black screen when i run Far cry5. what could be the issue? how can i fix it?

Asam

Probably, but it really depends. Anything that makes the system work harder is going to create more power draw in general. HWinfo is awesome for system monitoring. So, increasing the resolution will increase power draw if it causes a system component to do any more work than it already is. It may not be much at all if you still have a lot of overhead and you make a tiny adjustment.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Random question - if I increase render resolution does that use more psu?

Michael Saab

Make sure to check your display settings against the release post for the game! No frame gen on and specially make sure you have Cinematic Display Mode set to Fill Screen! That is one people seem to overlook. You are not using SteamVR at all right? Game version is up to date, and you are using the latest version of REAL?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hey guys, I’ve downloaded the Star Wars outlaws mod and everything seems to be working besides actually getting it to run in VR. I’ve changed all the settings but whenever I start it up it’s just a windowed screen, not actual VR. Anyone have any ideas? I’ve used many of his mods in the past Using Quest3 with cabled link to PC. Have quest link set as open xr

Ben

Thanks so much, Luke and Brandon! I'm back, as always, with my wish: any Assassin's Creed and Batman Arkham Knight, please.

Ángel Moreno Alcalá

Luke - many thanks for your great work! Any chance to bring Atomfall and/or Assassins Creed Valhalla to VR? That would be awesome.

Artur Pietruszewski

Haven't played BG3 yet , wait a vr mod... plz Luke :)

I'm currently having a problem with Avatar. Unfortunately, it won't launch in VR. All other games work. I'm currently using the mod version 23. I've uploaded the file to Pastebin. Maybe someone can help me? I play it on Ubisoft.

Markus Klering

Just a heads up, I personally get an error when trying to install the first person driving mod with Disrupt Manager latest version. You may need to use version 1.1.8860.32357 of Disrupt Manager in order for it to install without an error. I tried with every version after that, just in case there was a newer version that worked but all of them gave me an error.

Brandon(Post Maester)

The mod will will for the Gamerprofile.xml file that should be found in: Documents\My Games\Watch Dogs Legion\8cd7ca88-ba02-455c-80d6-a9cc7476f105 That is the settings file created by the game when you run it. Try looking there to see if it exists or it has a different folder structure for some reason.

Brandon(Post Maester)

When i double click the RealConfig Bat file, despite having already launched the game a number of times, it tells me that I haven't and wont launch in VR for some reason. Have tried the previous version of the mod, which works perfectly fine on TLOU 2. Tried the current version of the mod on Star Wars Outlaws and it just hangs on the Outlaws logo in the headset. However, Indiana Jones worked on the current mod. Can't seem to get WDL to recognise I've launched it though. Any suggestions or advice?

Headset-VR

You missed out Assassins Creed Or, Od and Val. Alan Wake 2 would be nice too

VRCrazy

Did you run the config file again after replacing with the REAL version that has the fix?

Brandon(Post Maester)

You could just rename dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll and play through that part flat, then rename to jump back in VR. The only part I have heard of multiple people having crashes is the incinerator part when you come back out.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Is that with the latest version? What headset are you using and how is it connected if not DisplayPort? Game version is 2.3?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Similar to some others, CP2077 is starting in 2D in the desktop window. Bringing up the REAL menu, it shows the VR renderer isn't started. Changing to OpenXR "works," but I get strobing, a stretched image, and washed out, pale colors on the main menu of the game, haven't even tried anything beyond the main menu. Leaving it in auto or the oculus/meta runtime, and trying to start VR from the pause menu, does nothing.

KelsoMonster

Smooth motion will definitely mess things up! You don't want anything at all messing with the framerate outside of the mod or you can have issues. Unless you already have a stable setup and you want to try motion smoothing in your headset software, but it is not recommended and can cause issues.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi thanks it is great! I had problems with CP77 starting non VR 2D and GhostWire in VR but also in 2D.... I troubleshoot for quite a while until they just seemingly randomly worked, idk... Probably cuz I turned off HDR in Windows and Smooth Motion at Nvidia for those games... Interestingly Watch Dogs Legion just worked before... I love these games, even Watch Dogs which sadly still very buggy unfinished Ubi game that often crashes, 100C throttles, or freezes my PC, so that's why I suspect this crash at outfit vendor loading clothes might have been related to VR mod somehow cuz it just crashed to Windows, not the Windows... Plus I have infamous 13900K... But no other games behaves like this... And Intel, Microsoft, Nvidia all points to each other but none fixes/supports WDL anymore sadly, I wrote to them... Anyways I digress... Maybe my setup is just scuffed by now cuz I do have the old 2016 (bought in 2018) CV1 Rift... XD

NickFirzen

I guess I post it here and not in the Death Stranding threat; I get a crash in the beginning at the water scence, here is a screen from the error: https://imgur.com/a/hq6wSdP

Thanks Luke! Current Wishlist: - Tomb Raider Trilogy - Space Marine 2 - God Of War 2018 & Ragnarok - Detroit: Become Human - Day's Gone Remaster - The Division 1 & 2 - Mass Effect Trilogy

Sunlounger

When fast traveling and driving the camera can sometimes break. So, it is not considered working really, but kind of :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

An intriguing session indeed!

Brandon(Post Maester)

thank you, will check out tonight on Watch Dogs Legion; Doom Eternal I do not get to run unfortunately - I have it in the steamapps/common/DoomEternal folder. The VR mod UI pops up very shortly, but then disappears and the game does not really load.

mrorange

Just a game request for VR. I would love to play NieR: Automata in VR. Really appreciate everything you do.

Daniel Becker

Huge thanks to Brandon for putting up with a particularly cruel and unusual remote debugging session 😁

LukeRoss

if you play FC5 VR can your 2D friend join Co-Op still?

Jamaicanator27

Legion IS a great game (played it using 3D Vision/3D display a while back). Any chance of seeing a fix for Baldur's Gate 3?

RossH

You will have to use SteamVR with the PSVR2, so yes, set it as the OpenXR runtime, then just use OpenXR from the dropdown in the REAL overlay. What area is it crashing in? The same area or different ones?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hey there I just experienced 3 crashes on CB2077 using my psvr2, could I get any idea of what? I last played 2 days ago and didn't make any changes - pastebin is https://pastebin.com/jiFYmT5N, thanks so much, also note I confirmed in REAL settings I am using OpenXR - if I have steamvr set up in the steam runtime could that be it? I just thought of this as I had to set steamvr to set up the play area

Michael Saab

Have you gotten other games running in VR with REAL fine? What headset? Does it just crash when you launch into the game from the main menu?

Brandon(Post Maester)

We think we figured out a workaround today :) Luke has to do some work though, so no ETA. Hopefully not too long.

Brandon(Post Maester)

No, unfortunately.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hey is there a first person view

JA

i dont know if you like suggestions but marvels midnight suns would be great in VR. the ue5 injector lets you play it in VR but for some reason it kicks you out within 5 minutes.

Breeze

mine crashes when I open the map

mrorange

I am using Ubisoft launcher, game won't run in VR. RealVr.ini is empty.

Vinesan Naidoo

Maybe check your play space/boundary? Do you have any other REAL supported games you play that you can test to see if the same thing happens? Are you playing the latest game version, 2.3? Haven't seen anyone reporting this issue.

Brandon(Post Maester)

You might be 😂 I'd love to play through 2 and 3 in VR myself. Perhaps some day 🤪

Brandon(Post Maester)

We're still working on it. As far as I know there are two issues: crash when a video is displayed and crash closing the map. Both seem to be related to DLSS, but unfortunately I cannot repro them on my system. Have you tried installing the Quick Start mod from DisruptManager? It's pretty easy

LukeRoss

It works for me. But when I want to play with the firstperson mod for vehicles, my game allways crash. Any idea to fix this?

Dimitri Taminau

Hey Luke. Are you still working on this to fix the crashing issue without relying on quick start mod? Or is this as "done" as its going to get? Asking as I am holding off playing it till its fully cooked. Thanks.

Natasha Owens

Good morning Brandon! Throwback game question if you could help. I got drawn back into Cyberpunk and am having a small issue. I’m constantly needing to recenter my view because it keeps getting off centered. I didn’t have this issue back in February and I’m not sure what I’m doing to cause it, maybe I changed a setting or something? Have you heard of this? I’ll just be playing, and I’ll come out of a menu and my weapon will be far to the left or right. Weird. If you have advice great, if not, no worries. I appreciate you sir!

Adam Munoz

I had the same issue with Vision Pro, the visuals weren’t worth the headache, so I retired it to movies only… Got a Pimax Crystal Light and it’s been sublime! Hopefully Apple will bless us by opening Vision Pro up a bit but I won’t be holding my breath.

Brian Marshall

After you extract the Disrupt Manager to where you are going to keep that folder, run the DisruptManager.exe file and then check the box for Legion and then browse for the main game folder over on the right side of the UI. Not the bin folder where the .exe is located, but the actual main "Watch Dogs Legion" folder. Click ok and it should open the main UI, where you can choose Legion in the box at the top and mods should show up. Click on the quickstart mod and then click on Game up at the top and install. It should then install it. Hope that makes sense. You shouldn't need to extract the quick start mod anywhere, it will already be in the Legion folder inside the Disrupt Manager folder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0ToibFKC7I&t=82s That being said, installing it doesn't stop the crashes for me. I even tried doing a fresh install since I made a lot of changes when troubleshooting with Luke earlier. Still not working for me.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Man, while you’re busy adding games, I can’t manage to get myself to leave Night City! 🤣

Brian Marshall

how to install this UI> Quick Start mod ? I have extracted it from the Watch Dogs Legion Folder in the Disrupt folder download - how from here?

Tomo

There are no changes with CP2077 in this version, except that Higher quality AER v2 is now enabled by default

LukeRoss

I can't be the only one who thought the title was about the Mass Effect Trilogy, right? I got so excited and then very sad :(

CozyViera

If I'm only playing Cyberpunk right now, is it recommended to update the mod with the newest release?

Michael Saab

I'm sorry, that's extremely unlikely :-/

LukeRoss

Hi, i know these are old games but is there any plans to do Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War?

BadgerUK

Hahaha, that was a long shot :-D

LukeRoss

Are you able to use Oculus runtime with ALVR?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi! With ALVR and Vision Pro, I can only run the mod in OpenVR, even though it looks a bit grainy. OpenXR is shaky on the menus and offset during gameplay. Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy work fine with OpenVR. But Watch Dogs: Legion only gets a black screen in the menu or cutaway scenes after a second of rendering. Gameplay is fine. Is there a fix? Are there plans to fix POV for Watch Dogs: Legion in OpenVR? Also, are there plans to add 6DOF motion controllers to Hogwarts Legacy? Thanks for the amazing work! Cheers ✨

quetzalcoatl432

Ok Im gonna put it out there, it will never happen but what the hell. Shenmue 1 and 2 who's with me? no one, OK Ill go away.

VRCrazy

Try turning of DLSS and running around a bit. You are not using SteamVR at all, right?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Does it still happen with DLSS off?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Anyone else have a crashing issue when trying to use the map in Legion? When the tutorial came up for the first time about using the map it worked fine. But when I go to the map now it crashes whenever I try to exit it and go back to the game. Using SteamVr as the OpenXR driver with a Big Screen Beyond 2

william mumford

Hi! With ALVR and Vision Pro I can only run the mod in OpenVR, even though it renders a bit grainy, cause OpenXR shakes helplessly. Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy work fine like this. But Watch Dogs: Legion gets black screen only in the menu or cutaway scenes, after a second of rendering well, the gameplay is fine; any way to fix this? Any plans to fix POV for Watch Dogs: Legion in OpenVR? Side question: any plans to add 6DOF motion controllers and compatibility with voice spellcaster mod to Hogwarts Legacy? That’d be rad, and make me consider REAL VR mod over UEVR for Hogwarts Legacy Thanks for the amazing work anyhow! Cheers ✨

quetzalcoatl432

Hi. Recently PSVR 2 toll kit was created, and I was trying to get DFR (PIMAX4ALL) to work with your latest Mod. Unfortunately I looks there's no FPS gain. Do you plan make your Mod compatible with PSVR2 tool kit? A lot of PSVR 2 owners like me could benefit from huge fps boost if it did work.

Andre Venturini

Hi Luke, first time user here - borrowed my cousins quest 3 for my 14900k/rtx5090 rig. Im testing out Howarts Legacy and everything seems to be working but I cant get out of cinema window mode into true stereoscopic VR. If I take a screenshot using printscreen it switches from cinema window to true stereoscopic VR but then reverts back. What am I doing wrong?

Shabib Seddiq

Forza Motorsport!

Kprime23

I don't think anything has changed. There were always config files there, but they don't control all the needed options, and get overridden anyway by the encrypted ones.

LukeRoss

As long as you are running a legit copy and you drop ALL the files from the REAL folder into the FANTASY VII REMAKE\End\Binaries\Win64 folder, it should install.

Brandon(Post Maester)

So much nope 👎 They just hit another modder with the DMCA bazooka

LukeRoss

🤣

LukeRoss

Yep, I get lots of crashing here too on the Ubisoft version, either when loading into a game, or exiting the map screen. Its not consistent, sometimes it works, sometimes it crashes.

Matt Hook

just a suggestion, you could add the way to uninstall/disable the mod in your pinned posts?? i just used LRCleaner.bat worked like a charm on FC5

I think WDL may not be working right on Ubisoft Connect/Uplay. Looks like crashing or blackscreen on continue/load and on some cutscenes.

I loved the first 2 games, I'm courious about this game. Ubisoft shares are 4% up today, it's because of this mod ?

There is no delay, actually :-D The frames are displayed as soon as they're ready, precisely to minimize latency. Most engines do not allow simultaneous stereo, so if you what you mean is that the left and right frames look slightly different in terms of the positions of rapidly moving objects, then yes, that's unavoidable. Freezing the game time between the rendering of the left and right frames would wreak all sorts of havok (pun intended) with the game physics and animations. I seriously doubt that the discomfort you feel is due to that, though. Nobody I know can actually tell the difference between simultaneous stereo and alternate eye rendering at full frame rate in a blind test. It's way more likely that what is messing with your brain is the difference between the left and right DLSS chains, as they are resolved independently and do not always agree precisely on the fine details, like the exact position of shadows and so on.

No sorry, I don't think I will ever get around to modding that. It looks awesome, but it's really not my kind of game :-|

Just a clarification. Is there any plan to support GTFO someday? (https://store.steampowered.com/app/493520/GTFO/) I don't know how this truly legendary mod is implemented, but as I understand it, the game is written in Unity and this is a problem right?

NWITlox lox

Im hoping this is a double drop cus with this and the last twe ive have little intrest in

JA

Please make more first person games

JA

why the alternate eye render method only ? Seems no matter what there is always a delay between left and right. Constant though but still causing little discomfort for anyone subttle to it. Is there a particular reason for this ? and im talking even while hitting 140fps constantly

The chimera boss fight crashes for a lot of people, me included. You just have to play through that part flat. Rename dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll to disable the mod and play through. Just rename back to enable VR again. The other issue could be some kind of file/shader corruption perhaps. Do you have other mods installed? You could try a fresh install or verifying the game files if you are on Steam.

OMG !!!! 👌🏼 I played all WD games a ton in my early gaming days. Legions never really got me… and will definitely try now! My loved Cyberpunk is not working anymore with all latest version of game and mod. I see monochrome texture images in the gameplay where they do not belong and then the game crash… I managed to make screenshots that I included here as link. Not sure if they are taken out from my post. … looks like it gets better with „older codex“ selected, but I can not pass the first boss fight after the plane crash in the expansion and the game ends here for me in the moment. So WDL is highly welcome! I have to buy it from Ubi as cheaper option than Steam, hopefully it works with the workaround mentioned. Love it!! https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZvTXOZww6gSnALb9XxpcPsnzqFk7DObYk7 https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZ2gXOZn1UDxiDzQ905Rz5tvbTqdVSdTiCk

Everspace 2 would be nice!

Please do a racing game next!

Just finished WD2 like two days ago. Thanks legends! 😊 Although I'm all WD'd out at mo I'll def revisit after Aquanox VR playthrough. Another game that gets undeserved hate. Kids these days are spoilt rotten! Ha ha 😂 yes I'm old!

This is on steam for £49.99.... or you can go to CDKeys and get the Ubisoft connect version for $4.02.... yeah that's less than 10%.. Yea I KNOW Ubisoft connect is kind of &%$&.. but 10%... You might find me back on here in a couple of hours crying about it not working right.. but here goes.

Natasha Owens

OK, so I have to disable DLSS before starting the game from the main menu or I get a black screen and then a crash. I can enable DLSS once I am in the game and it seems to work fine so far. Not sure if it will have the same issue when I try to load into another area or it plays a cut scene again, but I will do some testing later tonight hopefully. Just in case others have the same issue with the Connect version 😁

Brandon(Post Maester)

Getting crashes when trying to start a new game with Ubi Connect version. Let me know if that version works for you guys if you grab it on sale there. That way I know if it is just something on my system 😁

Brandon(Post Maester)

You can actually use the fov tangent multiplier in the Oculus debug tool for link cable to do the same thing ;)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah this is good news is been sitting in the backlog for well over a year with 0 hours played. I wonder if anyone is able to make first person possible, previous 2 games have a first person mod but apparently the skeleton is different in Legion so not possible to attach camera to where previous mods did

WIG

Nice! Thanks, Luke.

Amazing addition, Luke!, we are so spoiled for choice!!! Have you considered adding a FOV tangent like Virtual Desktop's to R.E.A.L?, I am doing H85 V60 in the Play for Dream MR and you effectively double the PPD! (with a little letterbox effect). Also in Quest3 the resolution gains are incredible. Anyone can try it already with Virtual Desktop and REAL but the problem is the Microstutter that the WIFI produces. I am using an Ethernet to USB adapter to trick the Quest3/PlayForDreamMR into connecting to Virtual Desktop via Ethernet, but I doubt that many users are willing to go through the hassle and will just use QuestLink as the best option (which as far as I know does not allow for FOV cutting and has a suboptimal image quality compared to Virtual Desktop). Thanks so much!, keep up the amazing work, Luke!!!

Luke Ross updates get me out of bed in the morning. I’ve maybe played 20 min of legion but in vr, Luke’s vr, oh yes I’ll get a whole playthrough in.

Super cheap on Ubi Connect store right now!
