Video tutorial: how to install the mod and optimize Indiana Jones for VR

In the video above, Brandon carefully goes through each step in the installation of the R.E.A.L. VR mod for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Remember that RealConfig cannot automatically set the graphics options for you in this title, since the game encrypts its user options files, so you might find the section from 1:00 to 5:00 particularly helpful to double check that you have set all the required options correctly.

From 5:00 to the end of the video there's an advanced deep dive for tinkerers, where Brandon talks about configuration files and presets and suggests ways to customize the engine's cvars so that you can achieve the best possible compromise between image quality and performance. This final section is not for the faint of heart!

You need to use VDXR and Oculus runtime if you are using Virtual Desktop. VDXR in the streamer app and then Oculus runtime in the REAL overlay, which it should default to with VDXR hopefully. If that doesn't work, please put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post a link to it here. Screen shots of your in-game display and graphics settings would be great as well. Sometimes, restarting your system after installing helps too :)

Hi, I just tried this mod and I have the same problem as Fatskee, the mod loads in the headset in a screen that follows my head. I tried the newest version and the one before of the mod and is the same all the time. I followed all the steps as the video but it does not work even trying several options in the mod. I play with a metaquest 3 through virtual desktop (openxr or steam vr none of them work well), windows 11, the last version of the game in steam and with the last nvidia drivers. Any idea how I can sort this out please? Thankss

Sorry for the late reply. Did you get things figured out? Are you using an up to date version of the game? Version 2.2? Also, are you using the latest version of the REAL mod? 20.2.0

can anyone give me a hand and figure this out, ive installed the mod, but when i launch through steamvr it launches in pancake mode in the steamvr home place (so it shows in my vr headset but as a screen), ive also tried just launching with the oculus link only and it doesnt show at all. i have no idea where to even begin on getting this to work, (im trying to launch cyberpunk btw)

You are most likely using the default 1/3 rendering mode, which locks to 60fps if your HMD is set to 90hz. You can use 1/2 to still interpolate frames for added fluidity and smoothness or you can go with Legacy rendering mode with locks at 90 but doesn't have the interpolation. Legacy is the most performant of the Stereoscopic options but is less fluid and has motion jitter. Just look for the rendering mode dropdown in the main tab of the REAL overlay.

Indiana Jones looks absolutely stunning in VR! However, on a max spec PC (5090+9800X3D+96GB RAM+PSVR2), I only get 60fps as shown in the MOD overlay no matter what VR mod resolution or video settings I set. It seems artificially limited to 60fps. I also see visual artifacts from the apparent motion interpolation but worse, I see depth artifacts on a lot of objects as if left and right for some things like parts of a face or jacket are reversed. Anyone else seeing similar issues? Would love to get this up to 90 FPS to reduce artifacts to a minimum.

Still working for me. It was not starting for Luke after the previous update on a 5090 but started working again after the recent update, so not sure what happened there. If you are getting poor performance, double check your settings to make sure they didn't change somehow. You can rename dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll to launch flat and adjust things outside of VR. Rename back to get into VR again.

Does the VR mod still work for you guys? I just tried launching the game and it’s barely moving. Getting like 0.5 fps. The game also forced me to do an update, so maybe they broke it.

Hi. I tried to play Indy again after maybe 2 weeks and it runs in 2D screen only. It looks like everything is OK adn i tried to run Realconfig again but it didnt help. PLEASE HELP. Thanks.

/Support Hello, I recently supported Luke Ross's Patreon so I could get the files for his mods to play cyberpunk in VR. I've downloaded version 19.0.2 and extracted it into the x64 folder of cyberpunk just like all the videos show but when I run the batch file, RealConfig, it tells me that mod installation files are not found and that when extracting the file the file structure must remain preserved. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and would appreciate any ideas people might have on what to do

Can you put a copy of the log file on pastebin and post a link here please? That way I can look at the whole thing. Please don't paste the actual file contents here as it takes up a lot of space :) Did you watch the install video and adjust the settings while running the game flat first?

Wait what? Should we disable SSW in virtual desktop when using AER1/2 or 1/3?

This mod is fantastic! That said, almost abandoned it when it looked like crap until I thought to turn off SSW / space warp in Virtual desktop. The video and instructions should mention this (if they do then I guess I missed it).

There is a lot of head bob in this game, and I can also feel it after a while. When I was testing, I started feeling just a tad queasy after an hour or so. I looked it up and it bothers people flat as well. I don't know about maps or tasks looking doubled that sounds like a setup or settings issue possibly. Unless you mean the HUD and descriptions??? Things like the journal or physical maps you look down at, that is just where the game puts them, and you have to look forward somewhat and turn your head to see them properly unfortunately.

Unfortunately, this mod is unplayable for me. The camera movement makes me really sick. The map, the tasks, are either very close or they look double. The Avatar frontier of pandora mod is perfect, I put more than 180 hours into it, I was never sick, but this one finished me off after half an hour. Am I setting something wrong, or is this really such a sickening feeling for anyone else? If there is something wrong with the settings, please write it down, because this is the Luke Ross mod, it is a big disappointment compared to the others.

I'm finding the mod isn't hooking even after correcting all the settings. I switched to Vulkan in reshade and still no hook. 4070 using VD and GamePass

Not in any real sense. You could possibly see better performance if you are using DLSS pretty heavily, but I actually don't know how much if any. At very high resolutions, you will mostly not get much more performance. Possibly a few frames in some titles. I made that switch already and I can't say I notice any big difference. I haven't gone back and forth and tested to see for sure. It could improve your fps lows which may mean less stuttering and smoother performance in some games where older CPUs may struggle but I haven't really tested that either. I do have frequent freezes in Elden Ring after switching to the 9800x3d, but I haven't figured out if it is CPU related or not. Haven't had any other noticeable issues after switching. So, no major benefit really. You are not missing out in any big way if you hold out for the next gen on either your GPU or CPU really :)

Hi. I just installed the latest verison of the mod to Indiana Jones but the game doesnt run in HMD. Iam on Pimax Crystal and i tried Cyberpunk 2077 (older mod version) and it works fine. I did everything as said in the video tutorial above. PLEASE HELP. Thanx

I didn't get a lot of time to tinker with Indy. So basically, I just tried to throw people a bone since there is plenty of info out there already. DLSSS is probably going to be the biggest boost along with the fov optis. First try watching the optimized setting video and seeing what kind of gains you can get there.

I got the never been run error with the release version, then unblocked the zipped REAL folder, dragged over the files, replaced, ran config and that fixed it for me. Have you also already run the game flat and adjusted the settings needed for VR?

I have gotten this mod to work in all the other games, cyber punk, avatar, starwars outlaws.. but indiana (gamepass) when I copy the files to the folder with the exe, it says that a user profile has not been made and the exe has not been started. Except, it has. I have a save file and everything, but the mod thinks it doesnt have a profile. Please help
