Drone races in VR? Motocross? Sailboats? Virtual tourism?

All in a single game? And set in one of the most beautiful cities of the world? Complete with piers and sea lions?

Either I'm dreaming... or it's Watch Dogs 2!!!

Since we can no longer enjoy GTA V, here's Ubisoft's answer to it. In my personal opinion, WD2 is one of the best open world games ever published. A very interesting story with lots of humor and memorable characters; an incredible setting, where even the iconic San Francisco fog was modeled and recreated just for this game; fun missions that can be played in lots of different ways, from super stealthy to rat-a-tat-tat machine gun mayhem; all kinds of vehicles to drive, in streets and freeways, off road, on water. Need I say more? I don't think so... There's some serious fun to be had with this one, guys!!! Just watch the embedded video review by Ian Higton of Eurogamer if you want proof of that (don't forget to like and subscribe to their channel, as the work they're doing is nothing short of awesome).

And folks: thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continuing support. It's amazing that after more than six years I'm still able to do this. I never expected the ride to be so wild and exhilarating, and I'm so curious to find out what's down the road yet!

Changelog

Besides adding support for Watch Dogs 2, release 12.7.2 of the R.E.A.L. VR mod fixes yet another problem that was introduced by the latest official update to Atomic Heart. There will no longer be a spurious 2D window replicating the game's UI in front of you during interactions with NPCs :-)

Games list

As usual the mod archive is common for all 25 supported titles, and the updated list is now:

All games implement AER v2.

Setup

I developed and tested the Watch Dogs 2 mod using the Steam version of the game; other editions should also work (Ian Highton in the video above plays with the Ubisoft Connect version for instance), but if you encounter issues please upload your RealVR.log file somewhere so we can try to sort them out. Also, make sure that your video drivers are updated to the latest version, even though WD2 is an older game.

Run the game flat (not in VR) at least once, so that it can generate its config files and you can check that it works correctly. Then quit out of it and extract the mod archive into the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Watch_Dogs2\bin" folder. Note that you might need to customize the path if you moved your Steam library or own the game from a different store, but it will always be the one that contains the "WatchDogs2.exe" executable file.

Finally run RealConfig.bat. It will perform a few required operations (including the v-sync fix for NVIDIA drivers, and a game-specific flickering fix discussed in its own section below). It will also allow you to choose a quality level suitable for your system, from Low to Ultra, and according to that choice it will preselect graphics settings that are known to work well in VR. Remember that running RealConfig is mandatory; if you omit this step the mod will not work.

At this point, the next time you launch Watch Dogs 2 it should automatically display in your VR headset. You'll still need to tweak a few things in-game though, in order to get the best possible experience.

Setting the resolution

This time too, I was able to mod the custom resolutions needed for VR directly into the engine. Watch Dogs 2 can deal fine with the required square aspect ratios, even though the UI might look a little weird in places. You will be able to select the resolution you prefer from the game Settings> Video> DISPLAY menu itself, without any hassle. Just make sure that "Window Mode" is always set to "Windowed".

Since this game is a resource hog, and every pixel that you can save counts, I also implemented the "Target pixels per degree" control which can be found in the "R.E.A.L. VR" main overlay tab. The idea is that you first select the best square resolution your GPU can afford from the game menus, then with the Target PPD slider you fine-tune the rendering size with the mod matching exactly the aspect ratio required for your headset; this way you'll be able to squeeze out as much performance as possible, without making your card render pixels that can never be seen in VR.

The mod will remember the resolution you set across sessions, so once you find the right compromise between detail and fluidity you should be able to play the rest of the game without touching the resolution again.

Cutscenes

Most cutscenes are fully 3D and allow you to look anywhere without restrictions. There can be subtle black bars above and below, which work correctly in VR and give that "cinematic" look without overly restricting your field of view.

As usual though some cutscenes were prerendered by the developers and stored as movies; they will appear as if projected on a virtual 2D screen in VR. They are quite rare fortunately!

Game options

You can set all graphics and gameplay options in the game menu according to your preferences and to how powerful your GPU is, but there are a few settings that you must leave to the defaults preselected by RealConfig in order for the mod to work properly:

The game offers a lot of different choices of Anti-Aliasing, but in my opinion only two of them give good results, so they are the ones RealConfig will preselect for you: SMAA is very lightweight and sharp, but only works acceptably at higher resolutions; TXAAx2 is much better at getting rid of jaggies and provides a very stable image, but it is prohibitively expensive at high resolutions so RealConfig will only choose it for the lowest resolution presets.

Input

You'll want to use a gamepad to play Watch Dogs 2 (XInput-compatible controllers like the ones from Microsoft are the best for my mods). Keyboard and mouse sort of work too, but there might be issues, like mouse clicks activating other windows at random or some entries in the game menus being unreachable with the cursor; thus, in order to have a smooth experience, using a gamepad is highly recommended.

Don't worry about console-player syndrome: in my mods aiming is gaze-driven and extremely fast, intuitive and accurate, so even if you're used to playing FPS with your mouse, give your gamepad a chance ;-)

Gameplay

The Watch Dogs 2 mod fully supports 6 DoF tracking, i.e, the camera will follow your head rotation and movement. There's a big difference from most other games in my VR modding collection though: "hacking" (targeting NPCs and world objects with your phone) is also gaze-based, which makes it very quick and intuitive, almost as if the game was a native VR experience. But that also means that the HUD is always headlocked, because to all intents and purposes you're constantly aiming, even when your weapons are not drawn.

The crosshair will remain properly aligned as long as you don't move too much (physically, in real life) from your home position. Of course you can always recenter the view, which in all my mods is performed simply by shaking your head "no" once.

All weapons should work correctly, even those with telescopic sights.

In the "WD2" tab you can change the world scale, from small adjustments to playing with dolls or giants, and even force the game to render to a 2D virtual screen in case you should find a section too hard to play in full VR.

Since some elements in the UI can sometimes be a little hard to read, you can optionally bind the 2D virtual screen toggle so that it's quickly activated/deactivated by pressing both gamepad thumbsticks. Another thing you can do is tweak the "HUD scale X" and "HUD scale Y" sliders in the same tab, with changes visible in real time during gameplay.

Performance

Short version: If you have been waiting to break open your piggy bank in order to buy a shining new RTX 4090, this is the time to do it []-D (I don't get any commission from NVIDIA, haha)

Long version: Okay, not everybody will want to invest that kind of money into VR. But let me tell you, with a 4090 and a Quest 3 or better headset, San Francisco is basically going to look like real life O_O

Keeping lesser cards in mind, RealConfig offers 5 different presets for the quality/performance tradeoff. After that initial choice, you can fine-tune everything from the game menus; there's a very detailed guide by NVIDIA that explains the impact of each graphics option at https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/watch-dogs-2-graphics-and-performance-guide/

Be careful, because this is one of those games where it's easy to get sucked into an endless cycle of tuning and tweaking instead of playing. The feeling of "I'm sure I can squeeze out a few more fps without losing too much in quality" is constantly there, because Watch Dogs 2 will make your GPU sweat and beg for mercy, even though almost eight years have gone by since it was released.

If you're interested, I'll make a specific post where you guys can discuss your settings. In the meantime I'll give you mine, which you can apply verbatim if you have an RTX 4090 and a Quest 3.

I play with the headset refresh frequency set to 72 Hz, to ensure stability and to reduce the VR load on the system. [I also play using the Link cable by the way, because for some reason or other wireless is never working 100% reliably, and there's nothing I hate more than achieving perfect image quality on the PC just to have it smudged by a stuttering video codec before it reaches the headset. Or having chop-chop-choppy frame rates during frantic combat because the encoder is bottlenecked by the Wi-Fi.]

I set the AER v2 timing to 1/3 rate (the default for Watch Dogs 2 in the mod), which means that the game only needs to hit a stable 48 fps for the VR render to be fluid, without any missing frames. And with a 4090, since I only need 48 fps, I can use the no-compromise Ultra settings while at the same time pushing the resolution up to around 27.6 pixels per degree, which for the Q3 translates to a render size of about 4352x4512 (that's more than twice the number of pixels needed for 4K gaming by the way!). At this pixel density TXAAx2 is overkill and way too costly, so I leave the Anti-Aliasing option set to SMAA. You can also try with AA off, for a cleaner image but with a few more jaggies.

Of course all of that is a totally subjective choice. Some of you will prefer to trade some visual quality for more fps, using 1/2 rate AER v2 at 72 fps, or alternatively set the refresh frequency of the Q3 to 90 Hz and use 1/3 rate at 60 fps. I definitely don't recommend legacy AER for this title, because the game is too resource-intensive to hit 90 fps at the super-high resolutions needed for modern headsets.

Camera

The game was designed to be played in third person, except for driving which is natively possible in first person too (with decently modeled car interiors, although nothing to write home about). But as we know, the tendency for Ubisoft in recent years has been to pull their game cameras farther and farther away from your character, as though immersion was a thing to be feared and carefully avoided. Go figure.

So I wholeheartedly recommend that you also install the WD1-like Cameras mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/watchdogs2/mods/11 ) which brings the camera back to the closer position it had in the original Watch Dogs, even though for some reason it messes up the vehicle cameras a little. Ian Higton had this third-party mod installed for the video review embedded at the top of this post.

Another 3rd party mod you might want to try is the FirstPersonCamera (https://www.nexusmods.com/watchdogs2/mods/9 ) which is quite fun, although you probably wouldn't want to play the whole game this way. Just don't try to walk backwards :-D

Sadly with the Watch Dogs series mods are activated or deactivated by replacing files, so you cannot easily mix them, and you can't toggle the camera during gameplay.

Since both of those third-party mods cause some clipping of the camera into the face of your character when in first person (either in cars or on foot), I applied a default forward offset of 0.1 meters to the camera. You can further tweak the camera offsets to your liking in the "WD2" overlay tab.

Flickering with modern NVIDIA cards

Generations of GPUs came out after the game was released, and at some point NVIDIA introduced an unsafe optimization in their drivers that broke some old code. For Watch Dogs 2, that results in an annoying flickering issue with the skybox and with some textures and shadows. NVIDIA themselves refuse to fix the bug, laying the blame on Ubisoft (who in turn seem to have zero interest in updating their game). Luckily one of the experts at guru3d found the root cause and came up with an easy workaround (https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/nvidia-geforce-game-ready-536-99-whql-download-discussion.448933/page-8 )

The workaround seems to work for most people and most situations, although not in all cases. And unlike similar solutions which had been found earlier, it has negligible performance impact.

Before that workaround was discovered, I had independently developed my own fix for the issue, which is more general and guaranteed to work 100% of the time, but unfortunately has the side effect of making the weather transitions in the game abrupt instead of gradual.

So what I decided to do is the following. RealConfig will automatically install the third party workaround by patching the NVIDIA driver profile for the game [please understand that all credit for the finding goes to Guzz and to the other gurus over there: I just automated the steps]. In the unlikely case that you're still experiencing flickering, you can go to the "WD2" tab of the mod overlay and turn on the "Stronger flickering fix", which will activate my fix too.

Updates and known issues

There is a known issue when you use a couch to advance the game time and save. Most of the times, if you are playing in VR, Marcus will never wake from his nap and the game will be stuck on a black screen. If that happens to you, just bring up the mod overlay, navigate to the "WD2" tab and press the wakey wakey button. After a couple of seconds the alarm clock will sound and your character will be fresh and rested, ready for more mayhem :-D

Enjoy San Francisco and the hacker's life!!!

Steam Summer Sale Update: June Working very well on my RTX3080 with no issues. One of the more easier LRVR Mods to install actually. Watch Dogs 1 & 2 working great.

i have tried everything to get this to run in vr but nothing is working. i have the game on ubisoft so i don't know if that's why it wont work

Stunts And more

On the mod menu on VR status, my PS VR2 is recognized as Quest 2. Is this the cause of my OpenXR problem?

YouGotColdYogurt

Well, the majority of the posts are outdated :) Just use the newest version which is usually the newest post or very close to it.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Make sure you set SteamVR as your OpenXR runtime in the SteamVR settings. Then use OpenXR from the runtime dropdown in the Real overlay. That will allow you to use the Hfov fix in the overlay for the PSVR2 which will give you a sizable performance boost. It will also shrink the screen down to match your headset which will make things look better. Other than that, lower settings in favor of higher ppd/resolution. The PSVR2 is a bit misleading about its resolution. It is not actually a 4k resolution. It is like 2k per eye. The Quest 3 actually has better per eye resolution. It still can provide a pretty decent experience though. Just depends on your hardware and expectations. The colors sure are great. It also uses a pentile matrix instead of an RGB matrix for the panel so that makes it blurrier :( Dr Greg, a long time Cyberpunk VR enthusiast traded in the Quest 3 for the PSVR2 :) Running 30ppd on the PSVR2 in Cyberpunk looks pretty good to me but I have a 4090 so easier for me to hit that. I am also using Legacy rendering mode. Again, make sure to use the Hfov optimization, it really helps.

Brandon(Post Maester)

la qualité d image dans le casque n est pas terrible ,je l ai régler sur 3490 x 2160 image granuleuse et flouter mon casque est le psvr2 avec adaptateur steam ,jai jouer a horizon et farcry 5 comment regler merci.

This post is also OUTDATED! It's linked directly from the outdated sticky, but this was also outdated by the v14.0.0 post on July 19.

Just finished Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The entire Elden Ring VR experience has been incredible - Luke's great mod makes the exploration and combat so much more immersive. With the evolving NVidia driver and REAL mod performance improvements, I have been able to use Legacy AER and obtain 60-70 fps performance (3920x3920 render window for Aero). The visuals have been superb, with no ghosting or other artifacts! Great work!

RossH

it also shows the pause screen for a second then dissapears and i cant take it out again

las_q

hello when i launch it flicks into vr for a second then stops vr and runs the game normally, any tips?

las_q

I tried the same in Steam and had the exact same outcome. I guess I'll have to wait for the compatibility version for Cyberpunk v2.13

Snoot

Hi Brandon, i will continue our long thread here, for visibility. So the GOG-launcher gave me only the option to downgrade Cyberpunk to version 1.63. I pasted REALmod 13.1 into the x64 folder as before. The game starts just fine in 2D, but the overlay with the VR Button now doesnt show up at all. I tried the pause-key and so on.... . Also the realvr.ini file is now completely empty. I tried a fresh reinstall of CP, too, and downgraded it again to 1.63. Same result. I didnt forget to start the game in 2D first. The realVR64.log file says "Only 7 of 44 RVR patches applied successfully". https://pastebin.com/d2L0sMCk Is the REALmod version now too high? What else can i try?

Sasa Bakic

Unfortunately the last update sep 12th broke the mod, im currently downgrading to previous game version

Jeremiah Babcock

I have the same story, with same steps and same results, with Quest 1 though. The errors are the same as well: [MAIN ] | ERROR | Failed to apply CP2077PatchCamera patch. [MAIN ] | ERROR | Failed to apply CP2077LocatePhotoMode patch. [MAIN ] | ERROR | Failed to apply CP2077HUDToggle patch. [MAIN ] | ERROR | Failed to locate game vars. [MAIN ] | ERROR | Only 40 of 44 RVR patches applied successfully.

Hi, I'm new here and I was trying the latest mod with Cyberpunk 2077 v2.13 (no Liberty DLC). I'm using Quest 3. Unfortunately I only see Cyberpunk on the big 2D screen. I did the following: 1. Successfully executed the "config.bat" file. 2. Created a link to "Cyberpunk.exe" on my desktop. 3. Ran the program from the desktop link (not from steam). Outcome: I was able to see the R.E.A.L overlay but it was in the 2D big screen, it did not changed to the VR mode. 4. I tried connecting the USB Link cable and then opening the game. Outcome: no luck. 5. When I changed the rendering to SteamVR, my head set entered the Steam VR screen but no Cyberpunk was displayed. Am I missing something or the Mod is incompatible with the latest patch (for now). Thanks

Snoot

Looks like it is having trouble with an Oculus/Meta dll file. But I don't know if it is part of the issues Pimax users have been having with the latest versions of the mod. You could go back to an older version for CP to just avoid the issue since it doesn't have anything for Pimax headsets in the new one. You could also try going into the realvr.ini file and changing the following settings or just pasting this in if it isn't there. [RVR] AutoStartVR=0 ForcedRes=1280,1024 OptimizeHFOV=0 OptimizeVFOV=0 UseMipmapsForEyes=0 UseMipmapsForHUD=0 This will disable the new stuff that may interfere as well as stop it from automatically jumping into VR. You can then try hitting the StartVR button and see if it works for you. If so, raise the ppd up some, hit the adapt button and then the StartVR button again. If you can get it to your desired ppd and it still enters VR fine. You could change AutoStartVR to =1 so it starts automatically again and see if it works still. If that doesn't work try installing the Meta software on your system or if you already have, uninstall and reinstall. If none of that works. Please put a copy of the RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post a link to it here so I can look at the whole thing.

Brandon(Post Maester)

You dragged all the files into the x64 folder? What does the config file say when it runs? Make sure to disable to GOG galaxy overlay or it will interfere with the game launching in VR possibly.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi everyone, another Cyberpunk complaint. The files are in the correct folder, but the terminal isnt convinced. I did start the game in 2D beforehand. Ghost of Tsushima on the other hand boots up in VR without flinching. The only noteable difference is that CP is purchased over the GOG client instead of Epic. Any ideas? I´m on a wired Quest 3 and a 4090.

Sasa Bakic

Having trouble with Cyberpunk crashing just as it loads the mod. Link to log file. https://pastebin.com/w8xHTQwR Error returned -3001 ("Unable to load LibOVRRT DLL") seems to be the culprit, but cannot figure out how to solve this. Google wasn't any help. Thanks for any advice! Also, I am using a Pimax Crystal HMD...

Michael Dewlen

Yeah, if you use mods online at all, you risk getting banned. So just play offline when using mods :) PS, Luke does all the actual hard work really. I sometimes do bicep curls with 2 of my headsets while answering posts though ;)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi Brandon, thanks for your hard work so far. So i've tried with elden ring VR mod, and it works fine (glad there is no issues with it. i have question to you on it. so before start the game, there is prompt that i should play with VR or not. and if it play with flat screen it says mod not allowed. so is the other mods is incompatible with VR mods or something? and is the VR mods is only for offline mode? thanks (huh! it would weird if i play VR in online mode, plus risk getting banned lol, ignore my question about this one >w<)

Aditys Nov

What headset are you using and how is it connected if not DisplayPort? If you put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post the link here that may be helpful.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi, I just joined here, Does anyone know how to get VR working in cyberpunk ? I Installed the RealConfig.bat but I still see it as flat screen

Rushi Chaudhari

Make sure you disable the GOG Galaxy overlay. The most current version 12.3.7 or the one attached to the Start Here post should both work fine with the latest version of Cyberpunk :) If disabling the overlay doesn't work, please put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post the link to it here. Sorry I missed this one.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Try using Air Link or Cable. There was a VD update yesterday and I wonder if it is causing issues. I'll try to test it later.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Was there a recent update or something? When was the last time you used the mod or updated it? Are you using VD? There was a recent VD update, I'll have to test it later this evening. Edit: Just tested with the new VD update and latest REAL version 12.7.3 and still works fine for me. If you are using VD, make sure to select VDXR in the streamer app instead of auto.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Got Cyberpunk running on the Quest 3 using Virtual Desktop on the first try, game ran in VR nicely. Since then every start of the game only switches into VR mode for a few seconds and then back to flat. Opening the settings with Pause doesn't help, it's back to flatland in a jiffy. Controller also doesn't respond, only keyboard, but Pause doesn't open the settings again. Don't know how to get into VR mode again after that teaser. (running latest version of everything)

Beelinator

Cyberpunk is a mess again. Does the new patch fix this game too?

Derrick taylor

Hi All trying desperately to get cyberpunk to run in vr. Using a quest 3 and link cable. Gog version of cyberpunk. Initially I downloaded the latest real mod and followed the guide ran the batch file and also placed a recommended optimized file. When running the real batch file I did get an error messages at first but then it seemed to work and said files cleaned up. Starrinf the game and making sure my quest link was active it wouldn't load in the headset just flat screen. I then found advice after searching online to downgrade my cyber version to 1.62 which I did but still unable to get games to play in vr. Should I be using an older version of real vr or a different version of cyberpunk 2077 any help greatly appreciated

Matthew Slater

YESSS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Sunlounger

Ya never know ;)

Brandon(Post Maester)

What are the chances of Luke someday modding Control? It’s one of my favorite game environments and I’d love to explore it in VR!

vintcern

Can you put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post the link here please? The log file is in the same game folder you put the mod files in. How are you connecting the Pico? Are you using OpenXR as your runtime in the Real overlay? If you are using VD, try selecting VDXR in the streamer app instead of auto.

Brandon(Post Maester)

The last 2 I am pretty sure work with UEVR injector :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

any plans to mode star wars battlefront 2, terminator resistance or robocop rogue city

Dee Bains

Hey, I'm new here and not even sure where I should post performance questions. Does Cyberpunk work with Pico 4? The game launches in VR easy enough, I executed the RealConfig but it is completely unplayable. Even when I don't move my head the environment doesn't stay completely still, and when I do move my head the movement is extremely jarring. My gpu is 4070, I tried to mess with settings a little bit but nothing helped at all.

Matti Soutsalmi

Amazing. Would ❤️ if you could do WD legions. The level of detail in London is amazing and in VR 🤯

Bryan Kerr

I fortunately get to play through the first time in VR :) It is a really fun and quick moving game. The motorcross races are a blast in VR. Especially the really long one that spans all over the city.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I'm going to cry! Thanks for the hard work Luke! Replaying this is going to be crazy!

anonultima

I am halfway through the game and I haven't found a situation where I needed to shoot from the car yet, so I haven't really noticed 😂 I usually just hit the nitro boost and speed away. Escaping is just way more fun than fighting in this game. I'll check it out next time I play though and bring it up to Luke if he doesn't see this.

Brandon(Post Maester)

So when youre in a vehicle you can press Up on the Dpad to bring out your weapon aiming cursor and press Left Bumper to fire, thing is im finding that the aim is a couple of inches or so above where the bullets are actually landing, anyone else experiencing this ?

Gaz252

Please say Watchdogs Legion is next, then the Trilogy is complete. (Im still praying for AC Origins/Odessesey/Valhalla after that, I can dream)

VRCrazy

Ha, that is awesome :) Make sure you use one of the LUT mods like Nova Pure 2 or one of the other ones from that series. Real Colorr 3 is a good one. Preem Lut, there are a number of them now but I like the first 2 quite well. There is also a new mod that is similar that fixes the harsh lighting. The brights are still a bit high but the lights pop more. irradiant flux lighting overhaul: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/15824?tab=files Also make sure to update the DLSS version if you are using DLSS. DLSS Swapper, a handy app for updating DLSS version for each game: https://github.com/beeradmoore/dlss-swapper I would also recommend DLSS tweaks for this game because you can switch the TAA version they use from preset D for Quality, to preset E or F which look better. You can also fine tune the resolution % it upscales from, for instance Quality upscales from 67% but you can movie it up higher for a preset that is between Quality and DLAA or drop down to 60% if you need a bit more overhead. https://github.com/emoose/DLSSTweaks

Brandon(Post Maester)

I just have to let you know that my son was using vorpX for Cyberpunk 2077. vorpX has some framerate and jaggy edges issues, so I decided to give your vr mod a try. I made him try R.E.A.L. VR on my machine and he immediately switched to using your mod :)

Graht1

Doesn't really seem like something Luke would normally mod but ya never know :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

any possibility of doing the Sniper Elite games; specifically 4 and/or 5?

James Stiles

I have been begging for the latest AC's for a while now and while i understand Luke cannot cater to everyones individual requests as it is basically an impossible task given the timeframe needed for these amazing mods to be released i still cling to the hopes that we will one day see Origins Odyssey and Valhalla and maybe even Mirage as they all use the same engine. But anyway putting that to one side Thank You so much Luke for the latest addition with WD2, this game holds a special place in my heart and im sure i will no doubt have a great experience as i do with all your mods. Keep up the fantastic work []-D

Gaz252

Thanks as always having much fun in spite of these annoying hacker kids...and already looking forward to WD Legion, AC Odyssey, Tomb Raider, SW Outlaws just to name a few to keep you busy and us happy ... :)

realchulo

That's correct, it's exactly how the 3rd party mod works unfortunately (same behavior in 2D). You cannot backpedal: you need to pull the stick down for a moment, which will make Marcus do an about-face, and then walk forward.

LukeRoss

Im running it with the 1st person camera mod which works quite well aside from the not being able to walk backwards thing.. its like old school Resident Evil tank controls where hitting back just flips you around but doesn't move you at all, you can only mpve forwards so you have to turn 180 degrees. Is there no solution for this that might make backpedaling possible by just holding down on the left analog stick? I'm not sure if this is purely an issue with the 1sp person mod or if it's an issue/conflict with the vr mod

Robert LeNoble

I home so that Star Wars Outlaws will be in VR :)

Marcin Augustyniak

Awsome! Thank you, luke! I'm still hoping you some day take a crack at another ubisoft series: Assassins creed.

hanskraaiii krai

Amazing! The gameplay in the video looks very fun.

Active Frog4100

i was having a similar issue on ds remastered {meta quest3,7800xt + ryzen7 5800x3d}, changing the vr mode to oculus fixed it, i have no idea why or if it will work for you but give it a try

julioctt tapia

We can't offer any support for them here because of the DMCA but I would hit up the Flat2VR discord and ask there. There is a channel for it specifically I believe.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hello i know this is unrelated but I hope someone could help me , about the gta5 mod is it possible to get reshade or openxr toolkit to work with it I want to change the look of the game and colors

Cla3008

+1 for Starfield… can anyone suggest what I can try to fix my Far Cry 4 setup? The game looks and runs beautifully, but any movement causes bad screen tearing. Standing still it looks fantastic. Quest 3 + water-cooled 2080Ti + i7 7th gen Just read more posts here and will try 72fps tonight…outbof curiosity, does Virtual Desktop run these mods well? I have exclusively used the Steam Link app so far for testing

AC2334

Very unlikely. Someone was working on it not long after it released but I don't know if they still are. Let's hope so. Although I found the base game quite boring after 12 hours. I have no idea how you can go from an epic opening like Skyrim to the opening of Starfield and think you have a good game, but some people have really enjoyed it and that is okay :) I am sure there are plenty of mods at this point to make the game far better than it was designed to be.

Any chance of doing a VR Mod for STARFIELD Luke?? PLEASE!! :D

Fantastic addition, thank you LR.

If you don't have HAGS (Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling) on it definitely helps performance for me with this game, especially when speeding between locations. Even though the fps is lower with 1/3 and 1/2, it should feel a lot smoother in terms of motion and camera movement. I don't like the artifacts around things when I am driving or rotating the camera so I also opt for Legacy but I am so used to it. I think 1/2 is great in first person games though or something slower paced like Elden Ring. I get a pretty solid 90fps at 4100x4100 but I have some things turned off or low. Mostly high, very high or ultra for important things like shadows and geometry. No screen space reflections but I am using localcontrastCS in Reshade which really brings out small details in textures as well as reflections. I find that SSR has too much aliasing and ends up being distracting more than pleasing. London fog is definitely not worth the 30fps or whatever it costs. I definitely echo Lukes words about not getting too caught up in tinkering and missing out on just playing and enjoying the game. So if you find a happy place with Legacy, just enjoy yourself some VR Mayhem!!

I tried to follow your settings as I have 4090+Quest3 too but if I select 1/3 the FPS drops down to 40 fps, 1/2 is 60fps and legacy always works best for me with 90 fps, always did (3900x3900 all on Ultra) Not quite sure if I am doing anything wrong but this the game is only playable with Legacy for me. Same with other games.

Anyone getting the game on Steam, there is a high res texture pack in the DLC section for the game. Just make sure you have plenty of VRAM if you are going to try it. You have to go into the DLCs for the game and add it even though it is free, really odd that it doesn't even mention it :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

I'll ask about defaulting them to off until things are more stable with them overall. Are you using Oculus runtime? If you put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post the link here, I'll take a look.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Do you have the game on Steam?

Brandon(Post Maester)

The game is crashing after getting to actual gameplay for me on my Pimax Crystal. I also had to turn off the new mip map settings for it to render correctly. Could Luke change things so that they don't default to on? I had to go into the config file to turn them off because the rendering appeared like a small foveated circle that I couldn't see much in with them on. Took me a bit to realize what was causing it before I remembered that Ghost of Tushima had a similar issue with the mip map stuff. Still don't know why the game is crashing though. I'll report back if I figure that out, since I know Luke doesn't have a crystal to troubleshoot with.

thanks for yet another amazing mod! I am still in awe at Thushima but will swing by San Fran very soon! If we can wish for 'something different' like DEAD SPACE Remake that would be amazing. I know you have many requests of super cool titles including God of War as Ragnarök is dropping too soon, as well as Last of Us , but if you can squeeze in / try to mod DEAD SPACE that would be fabulous! Its such an atmospheric game which just screams to be in VR. thanks L!

couldn't start game error 3005 (start server failed with 1275) seems to be a Win11 driver issue. solution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHdPi--TWpY

Thanks for your work Luke!! Your mods for 3rd person games are incredibles. Could you mod Batman Arkham Knight or any Assassins Creed or Tomb Raider please? Thanks!!

You put in the PPD slider!! I think people are really going to enjoy this one. I was finally able to live the dream of jumping a motorcycle off a big hill and landing squarely in middle of a table, ruining a picnic. There was no picnic basket to steal unfortunately but sometimes you just have to compromise on your dreams.

There is a check box in the REAL overlay CP tab that allows you to not headlock the HUD when using a gun. It is supposed to be head locked when you are shooting but you can change that.

Brandon(Post Maester)

And Star Wars: Outlaws ... for tomorrow the 4 XD

Love your work Luke, it's the easiest way for me to game at all mate.

Hi Luke, following up on VRto3D integration: I've implemented controlling the virtual HMD with the XInput right joystick y-axis and it works pretty well with your 1st person mods. On your 3rd person mods, you have the feature of moving the camera up/down with the mouse or XInput. This doesn't work well in combination with VRto3D controlling the HMD. Would it be possible to add a "lock height" or something similar in your 3rd person mods that disables moving the camera up/down? Letting the user adjust to a desired height setting and then locking it would be great! Some VR users may even prefer playing this way so that they don't have to worry about accidentally moving the camera while playing. Thanks for your cool mods!

Omg I did not like watch dogs 1 but loved two can't wait to try this

Thanks so much Luke! Would absolutely LOVE to see Starfield, Last Of Us & Avatar next!!!!!!

Sunlounger

Thanks Luke. I will be playing this one later this evening. Anyone want to bet this goes on sale on steam? it seems a theme for Luke's mods. Right now this is £49.99 but I found it for £5.49 on CD Keys. (https://www.cdkeys.com/watch-dogs-2-pc-cd-key-uplay) LUKE!! I still say you should be on commission for sales of these older games.

Natasha Owens

Awesome, very wellcome ... it's gonna be difficult finding the time to play it, so many VR games and MODs

When i play cyberpunk with real vr mod, subtitles and clouds/smoke all rotate when I tilt my head. Also, the hud isn't stable and follows my view with certain weapons. Is this normal?
