The path forward is... Uncharted!

[See the end of the post for updates]

Hey guys!

Release 10.1.1 of the R.E.A.L. VR mod (attached at the end of this post) fixes an annoying problem brought about by the latest official update to Cyberpunk 2077: specifically, tooltips in the inventory screens were appearing way up, out of alignment with the objects they described, and in such positions as to be mostly unreadable. All of them should now be back in their proper place.

I also fixed a few minor issues with the framework that affected a few old titles.

But most importantly... this release introduces support for two new games! I'm talking about the remastered versions of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which are available together as a package under the name "Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection".

As usual the mod archive is common for all supported titles, and the updated list is now:

All games implement AER v2.

Setup

Always important: make sure that your video drivers are updated to the latest version.

The Uncharted mods were developed and tested using the Steam version of the collection; other versions might also work, but if you encounter issues please upload your RealVR.log file so that we can try to sort them out.

Make sure to launch the collection flat (not in VR) at least once, so that it can generate its config files and you can check that it works correctly. It won't hurt to let it finish building its shaders, so you'll get less hiccups during actual play. Then quit the game and extract the mod archive into the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection" folder; note that you might need to change the path slightly if you have moved your Steam library from its default location, or if you own the games from a different store.

Finally run RealConfig.bat. It will perform a few indispensable operations (including the v-sync fix for NVIDIA drivers) and preselect graphics settings that are known to work well in VR. Remember that running RealConfig is mandatory; if you omit this step the mod will not work.

At this point, the next time you launch the collection it should automatically display in your VR headset.

The resolution will be set to an initial value of 2048x2048 pixels, with a Render Scale of 50% (so the games will actually render at 1024x1024 pixels). This is a very conservative setting, meant for laptops or desktops with not-so-powerful GPU cards. If you're lucky enough to own a beefy graphics card (and I believe that to be the most important investment you can make when it comes to VR gaming), you should set the Render Scale in the "Display" section of the game menus to 100, maybe adding some DLSS or FSR upscaling. Make sure that you don't change the other display options from the values preselected by RealConfig; in particular you must leave Display Mode on Windowed, Aspect Ratio on Auto, and everything starting from V-Sync downwards set to Off.

The most important setting that will influence your VR image quality and frame rate is the render resolution, so that's the first thing you'll want to increase if your graphics card is powerful enough. Higher resolutions will also mean less visible artifacts from TAA.

Unfortunately Uncharted offers no resolution control for windowed mode, so I had to implement the same workaround you already saw in other games: bring up the mod overlay and in its main "R.E.A.L. VR" tab you'll find a slider that says "Target pixels per degree". Set it to a value approximately in the range 15-25, depending on your GPU, then press the "Adapt resolution" button to set the game resolution to your preferred value. You can do that at any moment, even during actual gameplay. The resolution you choose will be remembered across sessions.

The game graphics options ("Advanced Graphics" section) should be manually set to a level suitable for the GPU you're using. As a rule of thumb, try to make sure that the game frame rate never drops below 60 fps, or only occasionally. AER v2 will make things look smooth (as smooth as possible at least) but it can only do so much. If your system is overloaded and cannot maintain at least 60 fps your VR experience will be janky and you might even get crashes, depending on your hardware and drivers.

The game options menu helpfully shows a bar with your VRAM usage; make sure to always keep it well below the maximum, otherwise you will get VRAM thrashing which takes a huge toll on frame rate. The most important factors impacting VRAM usage are texture quality and render resolution, so if your GPU is good but doesn't have a lot of memory try scaling down on texture quality first.

Gameplay

I know that I often say this (I am a VR enthusiast after all), but these Uncharted games look and play just like they were made to be played in VR. They are intense experiences, with a continuous flow that really makes you feel like you're the hero in an action movie. It's so hard to quit playing them, even when your head hurts from the weight and pressure of the headset []-D

Both games fully support 6 DoF tracking (the camera will follow your head rotation and movement). Gaze-based aiming works and the crosshair will always be properly aligned.

Cutscenes have top/bottom black bars, which I didn't remove because they work correctly in VR and sort of preserve the "cinematic" effect. There is no forced camera though: you can still look anywhere and the frame will follow your gaze. In the same way, when your character in the cutscene is looking through binoculars, you can actually look around freely and the binoculars will track.

I disabled depth of field effects (which were super annoying during cutscenes and when looking at nearby objects like your journal) because usually they have no place in VR. However, since I always believe in keeping as faithful to the original gameplay and design as possible, the "ULOTC" tab of the mod overlay will allow you to restore them if you so wish. Also, from the same tab you can change the world scale (from small adjustments to playing with dolls or giants), and even force the game to render to a 2D virtual screen in case you should find a section too hard to play in full VR.

Photo mode works correctly, as usual with all my VR mods, and it's 3D (except for the resulting picture of course). I think the best use of photo mode in VR is actually not to take pictures, but to explore the scene without being bound by the camera constraints and without being hassled by your companions prodding you to move forward with the story ;-)

Climbing, which is a HUGE portion of the Uncharted games just like in the Tomb Raider series, again looks just like these games were meant for VR. The camera is always in the right position, and though certain sections are by design puzzling, the increased spatial awareness brough about by the increased FOV and 3D effect help a lot with path finding.

The performance of both games is very good, and if you have a high end video card you'll be able to get awesome visuals at rock-solid 90 fps. With older GPUs you'll probably need to dial back the render resolution a little, especially with the second game, which has incredible amounts of detail in the scenery but is of course somewhat heavier.

Known issues

After you change the render resolution using the "Adapt resolution" button, the game might run at a reduced frame rate until it's restarted. Also, occasionally you might get a black screen. Both problems seem to be more frequent on laptops and/or GPUs with low amounts of VRAM. I haven't been able to reproduce either issue on my system, but both of them can be fixed simply by restarting the game after setting the resolution.

When you select a 1:1 aspect ratio (which is recommended for most headsets except those with a huge horizontal FOV), subtitles will appear in the middle of the screen instead of their usual bottom position. Personally I believe that actually kind of works better in VR, since the only easily readable part of the screen is the center area anyway.

In the Uncharted games, the mod overlay is best navigated with a gamepad. KB/M also works, but due to the weird way the games are reading input, all keypresses taking place while the overlay is open will also leak through to the active game, possibly triggering unwanted actions.

When you pause a game (entering the menus), the mod will automatically switch to its 2D virtual screen mode, so all UI elements will be readable. However, during actual gameplay some information displayed in the periphery will be hardly visible or even completely outside your FOV. There is no solution to that at the moment. Maybe a third party mod will appear, allowing you to move those elements toward the center of the screen. For now though, if you want to peek at the full screen to read the hints appearing on the periphery, you can bring up the mod overlay and from the "ULOTC" tab select the 2D virtual screen. I only found like 3-4 moments in the game when that is really necessary to move forward.

After some cutscenes, there might be a short interval when the game looks 2D because the camera is unable to sync to the headset. Just move your character around a little and/or wait for a few seconds, and the problem will go away on its own. Also (but for a different technical reason) sporadically the camera will get "stuck" looking in a certain direction, especially after the game has taken control of it to force-show you something interesting. I found that those instances can always be solved by opening the journal and then closing it again, which will reset the camera to normal.

Update 1: I had the nagging feeling that I was forgetting something when I was packaging the release. 10.1.0 didn't list AER v2 modes for the two Uncharted games
It's fixed in release 10.1.1, sorry!

Update 2: Some users have been encountering a weird issue with the controller mappings (for some reason the game chooses a totally unplayable mapping with multiple actions on the same button, other actions unmapped, ...) If you experience this issue or feel that the commands are awkward, just use the game options menu to reset the controller mapping to default, which seems to take care of the problem.

Enjoy exploring the world in search of ancient treasures, in two of the most VR-friendly games available today! Let's show developers and publishers that VR gaming is BETTER and needs to be made available out of the box!!!

Hi Luke, thanks for your effort. I used REAL V12_1_1 and did whatever you suggested to launch Unchartered and Unchartered 4 but still not working. After launching, I can see the introduction in flat mode and still can see everything in the selection screen. But when I slelected to launch the game, the screen was still flat but only in black ( Unchartered ) or in changing color only ( Unchartered 4). How can I send you the log file to check ? Thanks.

CHOU CAPTAIN

I have this issue also. Is there any way to lower to default aim height?

Mark

Yeah, it is something to do with the FOV exceeding 90 at times. Are you using the latest version of REAL? Luke did make a fix for it a few posts above this, but I think it is still an issue for some people. Yup, playing that part flat is probably the best way to get around it.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Work-a-around: switch to flat mode until end of mission!

steve

Game keeps crashing when i return to the boat on the island mission.i lowered the graphics to lowest setting and resolution to lowest setting and I have a invidia 4090. I can’t continue the game at this time? Thoughts? Work-a-rounds?!?!

steve

Thanks, the only thing I dislike is the aiming sight is huge and I have to look down in order for it to be level which hurts my neck a little while in gun fights, but other then that, I’m enjoying this mod!

steve

You should not need SteamVR at all. Use Oculus runtime, it will fake a Rift S for your Pimax headset.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Uncharted won’t run in VR. I have a Pimax super 5k and have to run there software to use it. I used most updated mod and followed all he instructions including opening the game before steam vr. None works. Help!

steve

What headset ya using? If you could put a copy of your RealVR log file on pastebin and post the link here that would be helpful as well.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I went back to the previous versions and i think I installed everything right because the VR overlay popped up when I loaded Cyberpunk it's just when I went to click start VR mode in overlay it didn't do anything any help

SLIN Slayer

Agreed! There is no going back. It will unfortunately be quite a large fix :(

Brandon(Post Maester)

So just an update: As expected Luke mod isnt working with the CB2077 2.0 update today. Did a clean install of the game followed by Luke's mod with no other mods installed. (intel 13900k, RTX4090, Vive Pro 2) Sound of the game launching can be heard in the headset but visuals remain in the Vive home. ( so the game isnt crashing from the update at least). Not a complaint, was expected, just info for all. Cant wait until we can get in VR with 2.0 and Phantom Liberty. I refuse to play CB2077 Flat anymore. There is no going back once you've spent 200 hours in Night City in VR!

Matthew Kinsey

You will need to drop the files inside the zipped file into the game folder where the .exe file is located. This depends on the game as there can me multiple .exe files but you are looking for the one with a large files size rather than a very small file size. CP for instance is in: C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64 Install instructions for each game can be found in the game's release post. Sometimes there are specific instructions for a game that may be different. Make sure you have run the game flat at least once go it generates the user files needed by the config file to install. Then run the config.at file and it should install the mod if you have it in the correct folder. If you have specific questions or issues with a specific game, let me know :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi, I am new VR gaming. Spent most of my time on an ALU cabinet for retro gaming. I am in the process of downloading Cyberpunk 2077 from Steam. I have downloaded the REAL_mod_by_LukeRoss_v10_1_1.zip. Is this correct please for the VR mod for CyberPunk 2077. The instructions are to extract to the program files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/CyberPunk 2077 folder. But, can I just extract the entire REAL_mod vr .zip to that dir or do I need to isolate the specific CyberPunk folder first (ie, the pack also includes all the listed mod for the other games such as uncharted and hogwarts etc. ) any advice would be much appreciated pleas.

Colin Durrant

Hopefully but no telling what all will break.

Brandon(Post Maester)

So looks like CB2077 2.0 goes live on Sept 21st. With Phantom Liberty not going live until the 26th. I imagine all the 2.0 changes will be what temporarily breaks Luke's Mod on the 21st. Hopefully this gives Luke 5 days to iron out the bugs before the 26th?? 🤞🏻🙏🏼🙂

Matthew Kinsey

I think only one or two people have had it. Did you try using a different DLSS version? Also make sure the game window is the top active window by clicking in it. Might even try reinstalling the game or just deleting the Nvidia/DLSS files and verifying the game files to refresh them, just in case of some kind of corruption there. You most likely don't have frame generation on but I'll throw that out there just in case :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Has anyone found a workaround for the cyberpunk 2077 DLSS causing bright white flashing land flickering between flat view and full vr

tinybabyman

No, it is gaze based aiming which you will probably get used to pretty quickly. So instead of using thumb sticks or your hand (motion controls) to aim you are just aiming where you look.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Is there a way to unlink the Y axis from the headset to free look when aiming. I can look left and right without moving the weapon, but when I look up and down the gunsight moves with my head movement. It's a little disorienting for me and makes it difficult to aim.

Thesecondbigbang

Easiest way is to change dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll, that way you can just change back again if you want VR back.

Brandon(Post Maester)

hello i would like to know if we want to deactivate the vr to play cyberpunk how to do it please?

TriosGaminG Pro

You could shoot me a game save at chronowake@gmail.com and I'll see if I get the same behavior. Might as well include your RealVR log with it as well. My wife has had controller issues with Hogwarts (nonVR) after the most recent Windows update. Wonder if they did bork something. I just tried Uncharted again and my controller bindings are all messed up, they were fine for quite a while after resetting to default and now that didn't seem to fix it. Don't see much on google really in relation to WMR fixes. Disabling extended Xbox support for Steam is mentioned by a WMR rep but that didn't seem to improve things for me.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Solid 60 fps at 1/3 rate 135 ms latency, Up to 90 fps / 112 ms latency in the tower in the early stage of the game (Panama jail).

Kheldar7

What game? Do you have any other headsets to try on? I am not getting crashes on my G2 but I do have HUD issues with Far Cry that only happen on my G2 for some reason.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi, I am getting regular crashes on HP Reverg G2 after few minutes of gameplay. 1/3 rate, rtx 4090, target pixel ratio 20. Newest nvidia drivers in place. I never experiences such crashes with your other VR mods. Any advice please? UPDATE: it seems that it's rather WMR/Reberb G2 issue that did not occur before latest windows update :(

Kheldar7

That seems highly unlikely but I'd give it a watch :p Ooooh, do I get like a cameo in there where I am jumping up and down in the background and Luke just sighs and says something like "yeah..... that guy helped with tech support"

Brandon(Post Maester)

Speaking of luke....I feel like he needs to release an autobiography as well as a " before they where famous " type of show.

Steve Bobowski

Go into the game folder where the mod files are and change dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll Now give me some cookies!

Brandon(Post Maester)

The only answer I know of, is to use your headset software or maybe something like OBS. For instance WMR has it's own mirror you can use when the headset is active.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I know this is a stupid question and probably been asked and answered many times before and probably could be found somewhere on this patreon but HOW do I get the image on the monitor to not be jittery so that spectators can spectate effectively?

Steve Bobowski

Hey, sorry if this is a dumb question. Any idea on if there is a way to toggle the mod on and off? If I reboot cyberpunk wanting to play it flatscreen afterwards the aspect ratio is all jank and I cant see enough of my screen to change it back xD Otherwise loving the mod. Was very surreal being able to drive a car and lean out the window like a labrador with a shotgun ;D

TheGod0fCookies

Make sure you have renamed the interposer file, don't have DLSS sharpening on and are playing in windowed mode. Make sure you don't have any other overlay software running. If none of that is the issue, give me some more details. What headset, are you using VD, what planform do you have the game on? Feel free to put a link to your RealVR64.log file as well :) Also, make sure the game is not locked at 60fps but 120 or higher.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Anyone know why the mod quits vr mode in the headset and the image on my monitor doubles and shakes when I try change the ppd in the mod overlay in Hogwarts?

Steve Bobowski

So mono is the view from one eye only and eliminates stereoscopic 3d. Of course, there are other depth cues your brain uses so the illusion of depth is still there to varying degrees depending on the person and how much they sense it from those other cues. I also think having a headset with two panels instead of one makes a difference but not 100% on that, just seems to have more of a binocular effect to me. Anyways, the reason it is sharper is because it is just the view from once camera instead of alternating cameras so basically the flat 2d view of the game. Alternating cameras and TAA don't get along very well and cause issues so you could disable TAA but then you will probably have lots of aliasing. The only way of adding more depth to mono would be supporting some kind of SBS mode like Superdepth3d that is already in Reshade but I don't know that it would not come along with the same issues with Luke's mod, when I asked a long time ago he said it would also come with the same TAA issues and so forth but perhaps even worse. There are different versions of TAA and some are less shimmery than others, for instance 2.5.1 is really good as well as the newer 3.5 if you can use it. So if native TAA or the default version of DLSS the game uses is giving you lots of shimmer around things (resolution will also be a big factor) try using 2.5.1 if you are not on a 40 series card.

Brandon(Post Maester)

For me, for example, CP77 is also very blurred with aer lagacy and AER 2.0. I prefer to use the mono mode at the moment because the picture looks best to me. It would be very cool if you could set the monorender mode so that the proportions or the aspect ratio came close to the other render methods. Maybe I've set something wrong or I should download a reshade mod.

MTO 35 89

Make sure you are using at least version 10.2 and not 8.4 from the start here post. Also don't start SteamVR before the game, just launch from your library as if you were playing flat.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I can make it work. - I dropped the files to Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64 - Ran RealConfig.bat - It says all OK - success.. - Air link is on - Game just plays in flat mode in a square resolution...

Venyton Izidoro

Uncharted? The second game is more performance heavy if you are playing it. Are you using AER2 (1/2, 1/3) make sure you are getting the required fps for those if so. How is your headset connected (cable, VD)? Do you have any software to monitor performance while playing? Also make sure you don't have any extra software or overlays running along with the game, OpenXR toolkit, Geforce etc...

Brandon(Post Maester)

Anyone getting weird stuttering and blurry textures? After so much tweaking, even on a 3090 there is tons of ghosting and stuttering, even on minimal settings. Am I missing something?

Asshle

Change dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll to disable but keep the mod installed. If you just want to uninstall, delete all the files with Real in the name as well as dxgi and that should do it :) If for some reason that does not reset game resolutions and such you will probably have to just reinstall the game to fix the user settings.

Brandon(Post Maester)

How do you uninstall it?

Nyx

Are you playing on a laptop? What do you mean exactly by "F the game up"?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Sorry Mike, been on vacation. Is this in Uncharted or CP? Can you put a copy of your log file on pastebin and post link here? Also if you wouldn't mind sending a game save where that happens (if specific location/s) if you still have one to chronowake@gmail.com that would be great. Did you try reinstalling the mod or anything else to fix already?

Brandon(Post Maester)

After 2 days straight of trial and error with your mod software I wanted to come and say thank you. I was a little frustrated in the beginning because of what I think is a lack of documentation. But fuck it man you deserve kudos because now that I understand a little better I think this shits so cool and I have so many more games to try out. Thanks again! 3900x and 3070. I was wondering why changing rendering resolution in your menu vs in the game would always fuck the game up. I thought I had something misconfigured, VRAM actually makes much more sense. 3070 notoriously short on memory.

Alex Jackson

Is anyone else getting double images on the collectible items and when aiming a weapon after a short time of playing? I notice the REALVR64 log seems to get a "depth buffer cache full" error around the same time the double imaging starts to happen.

mike parratt

i cant even get the game to run in vr never mind a mission LMAO

Jason Johnstone

If you are just having crashes at one part of the game, the best thing to do is just disable VR for that part. You can change dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll to disable the mod temporarily or use the stop VR function in the REAL overlay. Then just play through that area and enable VR again.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hey I'm new to CP2077 VR and for some reason it worked well up until the mission where you are trying to save Evelyn from the scavs I get into the building go one level lower and it crashes sometimes I get to kill the 2 scavs at level 0 but the other time as soon as I enter that area it crashes I dont know why tho cause earlier I was looking around on the streets of night city and there were alot of npc's and I had no crashes at all I have a Ryzen 7 3800x rtx 3060ti 32 gb ram and a 2tb samsung 980 pro the hmd Im using is the Rift s

Talha Kök

No, I don't believe so. It has been quite a while since I tried but renaming the file that is shared by both REAL and vr perf kit did not work. There is already FSR and DLSS for CP though.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi, would open vr fsr, or vr perf kit, work with cp2077 or any titles here?

Zarif Hasan

Most likely you are not putting the mod files where the games actual .exe is located. For most games it is further in the game folder, for instance Cyberpunk would be: C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64 Some games have multiple .exe files including small ones (file size) connected to a launcher or something of that nature.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Running realconfig file always says there are no supported games while being next to exe file in the same folder. Happens with all games for me

Raz

It is a feature, not a bug :) If you lean your head to either side the scanning screen will slide that direction intentionally. There is an adjustment bar inside the REAL overlay to slow down or turn off completely. I can't remember what it is called off the top of my head by when you see the name it should make sense. Like scanner sensitivity or something like that.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hello, does anyone else have this issue where in Cyberpunk 2077 VR, the hacking UI is sometimes suddenly shifting a screen over to one side or the other while you try to aim you hacks? Why does this happen? Is there any way to turn this off/change this behavior? Thanks!

DaisyAma

I am using DLSS sharpening at 50% but I also usually use a custom sharpener in Reshade. Are you also using the sharpening option in the REAL overlay?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Interesting observation made for unchartered.. Even with 25 pdi things looked like a pixelated mess in distance. As I turned on fsr and increased fsr sharpness.. Boom. Looked fantastic. Anyone had the same?

Maximilian Pütz

Figured out that I have to switch to SteamVR or OpenXR to make it work. So VR started working but I have strange stuttering - every few seconds screen freezes.

xmblpb

Installed mod, it showing welcome vr screen, but game does not run in VR. I'm using Oculus Quest with Virtual Desktop. When I click `Start VR` from VR mod it does nothing, showing VR status: Not Rendering

xmblpb

Make sure you are not launching SteamVR first, just launch from your library. What headset ya usin?

Brandon(Post Maester)

I am going to sound like an idiot here but... How do I get Cyberpunk to launch in VR? I dragged the files to the exe location, ran the RealConfig.bat, got no errors on the cmd prompt. Ran the game and it just operates in flat. I am pretty sure it installed correctly since my game settings all changed. Am I missing a SteamVR setting or something?

Junk Mail

Well hi there other Brandon :) Is the game freezing? Try clicking into the game window to make sure it is on top and active.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Once I open CP, it shows the welcome to the REAL VR mod. Instructing me to hit both triggers or press pause on keypad. It doesn’t let me do either and I’m stuck.

Brandon

Go into the games controller settings and change camera sensitivity for controller, I don't notice much change until getting down to around 20, I have mine set to 10. If you are already super sampling at 150% resolution then you won't be able to push your PPD setting up high. I would just go with 100% resolution and then adjust PPD to get the resolution that gives you the best visuals at whatever performance you are looking for. Super sample after you have things set up and if you have more headroom for it but no real point unless you are at max res and need to go higher. I play at 30ppd with DLSS Quality (version 3.1.30) at 90fps. I have some settings turned down but I don't remember which ones off the top of my head, basically I turn down things that don't really make much visual impact so I have extra room to increase ppd. It is always a process with each game. A good LUT always helps as well in terms of visual contrast and color separation, especially up close when certain things can be blown out or washed out. Prod80 cinematic Luts have some pretty decent options and are included in Reshade, the cinematic colors one is a pretty decent general one for creating better visual contrast. You can turn down the blue effect a bit as well if you don't like a cooler look (which I tend to find better visually) But experiment and find what you like. I also use curves or levels but tone them down or they will crush blacks and darker areas. I use a custom LUT pack that I like as well as a custom sharpener that (for me) enhances finer details better. Depends on your headset as well, for instance, my G2 reshade setup would not look the same on a Q2 or Pico4. Would have to tweak things differently for them.

Brandon(Post Maester)

How does one slow down the Right stick camera speed? And Brandon would you be kind enough to post your Settings for your 4090? My game is crashing if I push the IPD slider too hard in mod ui. I'm on a Ryzen 9 7900xd, 32 gbs RAM and a RTX 4090. Odyssey + headset. Open XR @ 150 % scaling. Pushing render scale to around 150 in game. Also when game and mod load, only way I can adjust any settings is to use 2d in mod ui, so I can see the settings on screen. Great work as always Luke. Oh and should I be using AER2?

Fearganainm

Sorry to hear it :( What PPD are you playing on? With a 3090TI and turning down some settings I would think you can get at least around 25 which should look pretty decent really. If you switch to mono is it still blurry?

Brandon(Post Maester)

i appreciate all the help but i tired all that you suggested. I have spent hours trying to get this to work. I have lost my sense of humor with it. Its sad i bought the game for this and i have used many of these Mods in the past and they worked great.

Mark Woehrel

I would imagine so but probably not on the agenda any time in the near future. That is a fun suggestion though :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

You using open xr as runtime with mod? Open the Open XR UI and change resolution to 150 or so , play around with it. Also change render scale with in game settings. Then change resolution within mod ui.

Fearganainm

What headset are you using?

Brandon(Post Maester)

fishbowl effect similar to spiderman mods

CT Davis

is it possible to make slime rancher 1 or 2 into VR

No 44

I got it working but it looks awful. Every time anything moves things get blurry. If i turn the settings down then it looks granulated. I had dlss off and fsr off. I tried every setting i could think of. Spent over an hour on it. I dont know what i am doing wrong. But its unplayable to me.

Mark Woehrel

I uninstalled the game and tried it again and its working now. Not sure what it was doing.

Mark Woehrel

I got this and installed it for Uncharted. i ran the BAT. The menu opens fine . But when I click on one of the games to start it. It closes the window. Then a few seconds later it opens again on the starting menu. It never gets past this. I have a G2 and using steam. My computer is a 13900 with a 32 G ram and a 3090 Ti. Any help would be great. thank you

Mark Woehrel

Did you also change the default settings on the camera options, they are set to go back to 1/3 I think when you use the shortcuts. I'll test out when I get home after work or tomorrow morning as well. I have to reinstall the game. Just picked up a large HDD so I don't have to keep reinstalling them for testing :) Are you using any other mods? If you are using DLSS have you tried turning it off to see if it makes a difference? What headset are you using? Are you using Virtual Desktop? Also make sure you don't have any extra software or overlays like OpenXR toolkit, Geforce running.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I did rename that file and it helped me out as I coudn't play at all (everything was super close to my face, subtitles were out of screen so I didnt see them etc.) Now its fine - exept flying. I use 1/3 but i already tried them on all, no difference. In fact! I noticed the 1st/p camera kicks in while I'm touching any collisions from left or right side a broom, -(tested around Hogward but it only last a few secounds) but when I fly away from the objects, its comming back to Game default view, dosnt matter what camera is on. 1st, close, r.e.a.l close, same with all them

Karol Zaborski

Did you happen to rename the interposer file yet? Are you using AER2 (1/2,1/3)?

Brandon(Post Maester)

What game? If you have a solid 90fps while they game is active (not paused) then it should feel the same with whatever ppd in terms of motion and smoothness.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Are you having any specific issues? What game? What GPU etc do you have?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Can you put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post the link here please? Try bringing up the built in performance monitoring overlay for VD and see if there are any issues or spikes there. If you are using DLSS try turning it off to see if that stops the crashes as well. With a 4090 you should be able to play at a high resolution no problem. Also make sure you don't have any extra gaming software or overlays like OpenXR toolkit, Geforce OVR advanced settings etc running or active.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi Folks! Using latest mod version - v10 on Hogwarts Legacy. And i have first person camera problem when flying a broom. 1) Once i jumping on it the camera immediately switch to 3rd person. Anyone knows how to fix it? And two 2) Cannot press/use a spells talents from the bottom of list (5lvls). I have coursor on them but they not respond. The broom is more important to me. Main reason why i play this.

Karol Zaborski

I have a question that have been maybe already answer, but i forgot, sorry ! It's avout Legacy AER, if i try to get the best visuel by increasing PPD, i should lost fluidity even if i stay put to 90 fps, right ? Let's say GPU 100 pourcent used, ppd 21 against ppd 29, i feel smoother with ppd 21 but can anyone confirm my feelings by experience ? THX in advance !

Cedric Piganiol

Is there anything I should know when trying to use this on my oculus quest two on my computer?

Paris Harvel

mike parratt 10:51 PM I have the Epic games version of cyberpunk with a pico4 headset and virtual desktop. I'm running a msi liquid 4090 with a I713700k. I'm getting alot of "flatlines" and only works kind of on low settings but isn't pleasing to play like this. What am I doing wrong? Please help

mike parratt

Change dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll and that should disable the mod temporarily.

Brandon(Post Maester)

No, can you put your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post the link here?

Brandon(Post Maester)

seeing as you drop the files+folder of the vr mod into bin - x64 then run the config then run the game, theres nothing else to really do besides launching the game. Hard to say what you may of done wrong without step by step of how you installed (installed meaning extracted the zip contents) the mod to then running it.

TheUnshackled

for CP2077 open Bin>x64 Drop contents of VR mod here.

TheUnshackled

So I share a VR headset with my fiance and when shes using it I wanna play CP2077 in standard mode. However the VR mod FORCES my resolution to be the same on both sides ( Example: 1920x1920) How do i make it so it doesnt do that when Im not playing in VR Mode?

TheUnshackled

ow and u can see the same thing on showcase videos of other games so im guessing its just a limitation

Bryan Vos

im trying to install the mod for cp77, and running the config and it works with no errors but starting it just crashes and gives me the "Cyberpunk has flatlined" message. Any idea what i might have done wrong?

DaNoodleMan

i found that while using the oculus cv1 there are those black blocky artifacts when turning my head at moderate to high speeds

Bryan Vos

ERROR: This folder does not seem to belong to any of the supported games. Please make sure that the mod zip archive is extracted to the very same folder where the main game executable is found, and not for example into a subfolder. Aborting RealConfig Press any key to continue . . . *so this ones sopposed to work for CB2077 aswell right?*

Paris Harvel

Playing Uncharted and have found that the game often crashes when it tries to load after I die. When trying to restart the game after the crash it will often crash again when trying to load but sometimes it doesn't. After it crashes multiple times while trying to start it again, I have found that deactivating the mod is the only way to get it to load again. Something with the mod is making it frequently fail on reload but it doesn't do it everytime. I have a 13700 and 4090 and playing with a PPD of around 23 so there should not be any kind of VRAM issue going on. Any idea what could be causing this?

william mumford

It is usually a combo of the thumb sticks, pause/start or the two triggers. Don't remember which for Stray. I enjoyed my playthrough of that game so much, Since it is not long, I just did it in one sitting with a couple food breaks :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

I can't get the same menu to pop up in Stray, its only 1 screen. How do I get to the other menu screens (LR Mod menu screens)?

Stephen Sayles

Yeah, the buttons seem to get all messed up somehow, no idea why yet. Going into the games settings and choosing reset to default seems to fix them pretty reliably. I'll try reinstalling and seeing if the buttons get mapped properly if I actually play the game first before running the config file. Thanks for the tip.

Brandon(Post Maester)

What headset are you using, what GPU do you have? If you are using DLSS, try disabling it to see if it stops the crashes. Some people have had issues with memory leeks so I will link software for fixing that if you want to try it. If you are getting crashes on one part of the game, you can always use the stop VR button in the overlay to play through flat or change dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll to temporarily disable VR.

Brandon(Post Maester)

The Uncharted games look great, so far. Note that some menu screens are not visible in my HMD, so I must use my desktop display to navigate the menus and start game (changing REAL mod UI scaling does not help). Unfortunately, I have to temporarily reduce my preferred REAL settings for pixels per degree (at least 27) in order to even see the menu items on my desktop screen. By the way, I suggest enhancing Luke Ross's great instructions for the Legacy of Thieves games to clarify that BOTH games should be launched in 2D before running the .bat file. I did not, and my UI controls became so confused that I could not even launch the games using mouse and keyboard in 2D (VR disabled). All files verified, yet I could not launch games. I tried removing all config files, but I still could not launch the games. I finally had to entirely purge and redownload the set of games, and start playing both games before installing REAL mod.

RossH

I realy love this mod, 1/2 is the best way to play and the games are awesome. I can not come back to Legacy. I love so much GTA V but is a old version. Would it be possible to update the old GTA V mod from Github? I know about 2k warning but It´s a free mod. If the mod is free they can do nothing. GTA V in 1/2 would be the best way to show the mod to everyone. Thanks and keep it up

No_VR_no_buy

The Ghost runner & grounded menus are also extremely unaligned, making crucial functions of the game unusable. (Those are the only games ive tried besides cyberpunk) These mods are awesome but i wish cyberpunk was more stable, im stuck in a crashing loop on a mission w panam & its annoying. It crashed after manning the turret but now whenever i get into the car it will crash over & over. Extremely irritating however im so glad a mod like this exists in the first place.

Weird Gamer

Are you using DLSS? That has caused crashing for some people, I don't use the default version and have not had crashes but I haven't played much for months other than testing here and there. Try turning off DLSS if you do. Some people have memory leak issues, I think Dr. Greg has a vid on youtube with a fix for that. If you want to give me a game save I'll try it out and see if I get the same behavior when scanning. Is it any time you scan? Some braindance scenes have caused crashing in and out of VR for a long time so hard to pin point a reason. You can email a save to chronowake@gmail.com

Brandon(Post Maester)

CP2077 crashes often when I'm "in" an editable brain dance scene or doing a scan (4090, 13900K, no OC, clean PC no issues otherwise, playing REAL in Legcay mode 90 fps no problem, typically 70-80 ms frame time). First I thought it depends on resolution (me usually 3400x3400) but it also flatlines its e.g. 2400x2400. Any idea for a fix or workaround?

tennenbaum

Where did you hear this? Was there an article or official statement somewhere? They would not respond when Luke tried to reach out, which is why he just gave up and then went the route of dropping support entirely.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Are you starting SteamVR before launching the game? Do you get any errors from the config file or when trying to run the game?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hey Luke, I heard that Take-Two has nothing against the RDR2 VR Mod in general, just a problem that you make money from it. Would there be a chance in the future that you could also make this MOD (as a small thank you to the community here) freely available to us on GitHub like the GTA Mod? The start menu would only have to be revised once so that the old MOD doesn't always crash.... That would be sooo nice. thanks for your work

Immsen

i doubt its possible but make dishonored vr, also i need help with cyberpunk from someone cause i follow the tutorials and the game just boots up in the standard vr mod not in the mods mode.

No 44

You are welcome! :) Glad you enjoyed it so much.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Are you using a G2 or WMR? If you press window + y buttons then it switches between monitor input vs headset input. I can usually navigate the game menus fine with my controller though. Are you using a wireless controller? Sorry, I know you may have already provided that info in other posts but it gets complicated to keep up with who has what hardware :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

When i start uncharted (both) my keyboard, joystick are inactive, my mouse is moving but the click is inoperant. i tried windows+y, tabulation, etc...and...at a moment a sound signal and it's ok. Joystick and mouse are working. Do y lost something ? it is relative to the focus.

azur29

i've just finished Uncharted 4: A Thief's End...Amazing, fantastic, !!! Thanks Luke and Brandon for his help.

azur29

If you could give me a game save, I will try it to see if it will be a common issue. You could use the 2d screen option in the REAL overlay to try and get past it or change dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll to disable VR temporarily and play through that part. Be good to see if it causes crashes on other headsets/runtimes so Luke can potentially fix though. You can just email a save to my junk mail, chronowake@gmail.com

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi! Amazing transformation from Uncharted 4 flat screen to VR! The detail is amazing. Anyone else having issues with game breaking freezes? I'm on ch. 12 where you park the boat in the cave, Returning to the boat to head out, once I jump into the water in the cave no matter what route I take the game crashes along with steam VR. Can't get past it. I'm using SteamVR/Index. Trying to figure out if it's game shenanigans or if there something hanging with Steam VR.

Lucian Scott

Hi Angel, glad you are enjoying the mods :). There are no plans for first person for the Uncharted games currently. There will be a lot of extra work this month and next with the DLC's for Atomic Heart and of course the big one for Cyberpunk. After that, Starfield will be close at hand probably, not that it is a guarantee that he will mod it but I am sure it would be a huge one.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hello! As always, thank you very much Luke for these wonders that you bring us, Uncharted is a title that I hadn't wanted to play until you brought us its mod. I would like to know if there would be a possibility, in a next update of the mod, of including First Person, similar to how you did with Howarts Legacy. For me it would be great and I see that there are many other fans who would also like it. Finally, and just as a suggestion, I think that games in which movement controls are not as important as in shooters, like Assassins Creed or Tomb Raider, are perfect choices for your next mods, and if they could be adapted at first person would already be a dream. Thank you very much for your work!

Ángel Moreno Alcalá

Make sure you are puting the mod files in the game folder where the actual .exe is located. Should be something like: C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64 Some games have .exe files that are small and connected to a launcher or something of that nature.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi, im new here and wanted to try Cyb77 in VR, I put the file from the zip in the folder of the game but when i run the realconfig, its says that this folder does not seems to belong to any supported games. Did I miss something? Thank you

LCC

You could try changing dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll to remove VR but I don't know that it would help with the controller issue as well. You could also try remapping the buttons manually in the games settings.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I had the issue where it will not start Atomic Heart after the update as well.

Steve Morse

Uncharted Controller issues: When i want to play the charcter moves slow. A Button on x box controller does not jump but changes camera. I tried resseting keys. Does not work. I know have deleted the whole game and reinstalled it . And the controlls work fine. So it must have to do with the mod. Is there a better way to go back to the original files when i try to install lukes mode again? Any other ideas?

Maximilian Pütz

Just a heads up, I tried the Atomic Heart DLC and it does not currently work with VR. Luke will look into it and hopefully release a fix. Just FYI.

Brandon(Post Maester)

If you deleted the game folder and then reinstalled then that should have cleared out the mod completely. You can also rename dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll if you want to temporarily go back to playing flat but leave the mod files in to play in VR again later. Deleting any REAL files as well as dxgi.dll should also effectively remove the mod.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I need help clearing this mod from my games. Ive tried completely uninstalling the whole game and deleted the entire documents folder for the game. Ive downloaded new copys of the game from steam etc. and it still wants to act as tho im trying to launch it in vr. I dont even understand how thats possible.

nicholas shelton

Don't start SteamVR before launching the game, just start as if you were playing flat and the mod will launch whatever it needs from there. Also disable Steam Theater for the games as it can cause conflicts. Also will post a link to a really good guide for getting better visuals for FF& remake if you are on Higher end hardware, looks really amazing on a 4090. The widescreen fix will cut off part of the menus when it is active but wasn't a big deal for me compared to being able to play at a much higher resolution :) Also the HD texture pack is no longer on nexus, I had to hunt it down from a reddit post I believe, can't remember exactly where but had to download it from a torrent. The texture pack it definitely worth it as well depending on your GPU/VRAM. https://beastsaber.notion.site/beastsaber/Final-Fantasy-VII-Config-Guide-for-Luke-Ross-s-FF7-VR-Mod-3175d069221b475c8c5ad7eb79362bc0

Brandon(Post Maester)

There is no instructions on how to launch the games. They always say (game will launch in a vr environment) The the game launches in steams VR theater thing. I drop the files into the games folder where the exe is located. Run the RealConmfig.bat, hit enter when its done. Click play in steam, the theater thing pops up in the headset. I can see the lukeross menu overlay in the vr headset ontop of the game but its still i9n that theater mode. Ive tried FF7 Remake with launch option -dx11 and Hogwarts Legacy. They both do the same thing. Final fantasy's resolution is all messed up in the headset and also on the monitor. Thanks for any help.

sro king

Seems like a few people have asked now, I'll pass it on :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hey Luke, what about Baldurs Gate 3 VR mod next? It is fully playable with controller and would be awesome in VR.

Sven Hilbert

After enabling the option in the overlay, you have to hold the right thumbstick down for 1 sec.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Not sure what drop down list you mean but if you select a box or element of the overlay (a with Xbox, x with PS) any drop down function should activate. If you hold down the x button (Xbox) or square (PS) you then use the bumper buttons to navigate tabs.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Can anyone remind me how to activate slow motion in cyberpunk. I am sure it was click right stick. But that doesn't seem to work

WIG

An over ridiculus question. In the mod overlay how can you extend the drop down list with the joypad (in the upper left corner) ? With the joypad again, how can you change the tab menu ?

azur29

If you go into the games settings, Luke was able to put in resolution options, so you can select them in game. You can then adjust with the ppd slider if fine tuning is necessary or if you have canted displays(pimax).

Brandon(Post Maester)

Maybe a dumb question but anyhow, in Cyberpunk the preselected resolution of 2432*2432 (I think..) should be left alone and the resolution settings should only be done with the mods PPD slider > adapt resolution ?

realchulo

Had a weird issue in Cyberpunk with a flickering, noisy color-inverted imgage flashing up shortly every few seconds, and much more often the higher the render resolution was set via PPD slider. My setup is a Quest 2 with USB Link, and a Nvidia 4080 GPU. It took me a whole day driving me nuts and reinstalling everything, Nvidia drivers, Oculus software, Cyberpunk and the mod of course. Long story short, setting color precision in the graphic settings to "high" resolved the issue ! Maybe this helps others who run into this.

realchulo

Not really a known issue with CP no, if your user settings and folder are not on C drive then it could potentially not be finding it and then you may need to edit the config file to point it to the right folder path. You have run CP at least once flat to generate the user files right?

Brandon(Post Maester)

That is how it looks in the game window. Depending on your headset you may be able to display a kind of capture window, like with WMR it has it's own screen viewer.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi, this is fantastic stuff! Unfortunately, when I try running RealConfig in the Cyberpunk folder (Steam, Windows 11), the command prompt says it's not in a recognized game folder. I ran it on Spiderman and it worked perfectly. Is this a known issue with Cyberpunk? Thanks!

TheWay

Hey my cyberpunk is working great in the headset, i'm having no issues there, but my only issue is on the game window, there's a very bad jittering/stuttering thing that makes it awful to watch, which sucks cause i wanna show this off to some people but it would probably make them borderline nauseous lmao, is there a fix for this or is it just how it looks on the game window?

salemisjuucy

Thank you for supporting! Hope you enjoy it :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

THX for the new stuff :)

Immsen

I agree, it is sad that VR is so focused on stand alone these last years :(

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi Naeldero, are you using AER2 (1/2,1/3) and what kind of fps do you get when the game is active (not paused)? What kind of light source/s? Torches?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Thanks Luke! For Horizon Zero Dawn I've noticed a weird flicker especially when near light sources. It's very jarring, especially when moving and sometimes actually causes some motion sickness for me which I never get in VR. Is this something normal, maybe related to AER?

Naeledro

The last of Us 2 uses the same engine ? Played the first one on PS4, the second one skipped it because no VR

Cercata

Hi just wanted to say thanks for this great work. Such a pity the gaming industry focuses mainly on standalone shit but this makes so many great games VR playable I have much to do now to play these all again :) Tyvm

realchulo

Thx Luke, Uncharted is fantastic to revisit in VR / 3D again! The ammount of details in this games is unbelivable. Pls consider also The last of us. Great work!!!

Mark Rehm

There is an option to enable 2d screen in the REAL overlay that you can always use if needed for menus. At the base resolution set by the config file you should be able to navigate the menus with mouse on your monitor, if you increase the resolution up a ways more then using either the 2d screen option or just memorizing the opening menu is best really. If you need to go back and set up playing the second game or something, you can always drop the ppd back down and the window will shrink back to being usable on your monitor. The menu in game should work perfectly fine for setting in game options and controller mapping and so forth.

Brandon(Post Maester)

First step would be to probably try lowering some of the settings to see if that helps the crashing, in case it is a VRAM thing. Playing in VR will eat up extra VRAM beyond what the game does flat. Do you get any particular error when it crashes? You could put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post the link here and I will take a look just in case.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Definitely make sure you are utilizing DLSS, 2.5.1 is probably the best out of the 2 series. Go into the games settings and pick a lower resolution and turn off screen space reflections and any shadow settings you can. Turn off the extra character lighting option there as well. You should be able to play with that card but it is not going to be a great experience, no :( Another route is to try out some of the mods from Nexus that are made to make the game more playable for older systems and see if they can give you any headroom that you can then apply to a higher resolution. I don't know how well that will work out but just focus on getting the highest texture setting and resolution you can to get the best visual impact. It should be a great time to game on PC but Nvidia has to be ultra greedy even though they are about to make a fortune off the AI industry.

Brandon(Post Maester)

What game? Some games like CP have in game resolutions that Luke added while others you have to use the PPD slider in the REAL overlay to set the resolution.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, install should be the same, are you having issues getting it working? Yup, Steam Input can cause crashing with the Spiderman games for some odd reason.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hello everybody, i install uncharted today. When i start the game my G2 show me an oversized screen. the game menu is far in the corner (unreadable). I don't know how i finaly can start the game. Thirst the mouse movement in the mod's menu was very reduced ( 4 lines verticaly, no problem horizontaly). Finaly i could start the game after memorizing the keyboard sequence in flat mod. And from that the game is fantastic. Résolution, framerate are good. (rtx4090 38px/°) Until the next start of the game. I wonder if my problems are not due to the fact that I use two screens

azur29

So I'm having a crashing issue on CP2077. The game boots up fine in VR and I can play with no issues for about one or two minutes then the game completely freezes then crashes after another two minutes. I'm using the quest 2 with a 2070s the problem persists across both air link and cable

Kolonel_Korn

Hey! Newcomer to VR here. I'm itching to play CP2077 on the Oculus Quest 2 but I'm concerned about my card not being strong enough to handle it. I have an AMD 5950X with 64G Ram, but I'm pumping the display from a 3060 Ti. I got your VR adaptation to work but it's not playable - I'm only getting like 2-3 frames per second using the default settings on a fresh install of the game. No user settings changed yet. Are there any optimizations I could make to improve this, or is the 3060Ti just too much of a shit card this day and age?

Barklight

How can I increase the resolution (even in mono mode)? Everything is pixelated no matter what setting I try.

B P

Hi Brandon, are the Hogwarts Legacy install instructions still the same from the Feb 9th post or has that changed since? Also I went back to Spidey and it now crashes when I open the mod UI, any tricks for that? -> Had to disable Steam Input for Spidey, Gaben forced it on with latest UI update

AaronCLS

Quick question Tomo, how do you disable steam input?

Danny O'Neill

In general, make sure you don't have any extra overlays or gaming software running. Any overclocks? Any other mods? If you can put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post a link I'll take a look.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I need some help folks. I got the mod working on my 2060 (cyberpunk but my results are the same with ghost wire) but it crashes instantly on my RX 6700 XT. All drivers are up to date, and everything I can think of seems normal. Any ideas where to start looking?

B P

UNCHARTED: For those who own a PS5 controller, plug in with cable, disable Steam input, and enjoy full haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Native support by the game.

Tomo

Just jumped into CP2077 -mindblowing !! on my 3080 "test rig". Mod Installation was easy. Great guide here. Can't wait to try it out with my 4090 Sim Racing Rig. I hope it won't mess with my sim racing openXR finetuned set up. Luke Ross is incredible! I could never get warm with flat CP2077. Now in VR it's literally a game changer. Thank you so much, your Mod opens a whole new word. ...and Uncharted waiting for me in VR...

tennenbaum

Aiming is gaze(head based) with all of Luke's mods. You should be able to move and play with K/M while aiming with your head, a gamepad is pretty ideal but just depends on what you are more used to.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I cant aim up or down with the mouse. its fixed on a horizontal plane. i also cant even pull out my weapons.

Justin McWilliams

Are you using Geforce? Are you using AER2(1/2,1/3) or Legacy? Can you put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post the link here please?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Attempted to use this with Ghostwire, and the game position swapped eyes every render frame causing the entire scene to shift left/right by about an inch on each frame. Made me want to vomit. 3070 on latest drivers w/ Oculus

PolyLogiX Studio

It can definitely cause issues depending on if you are using OpenXR runtime, just deactivating it should be enough, you shouldn't have to completely uninstall it.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Head based aiming.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Is OpenXR Toolkit still not compatible with R.E.A.L VR? Do I have to uninstall OpenXR Toolkit?

tennenbaum

Cyberpunk 2077 question: do you aim in this mod with hands or with head?

Strenson

My controller setup was all weird when I started the game, I had to go into the game settings and choose reset defaults for controller mapping. I didn't notice until trying a save from someone else and the buttons made a lot more sense :) What kind of gamepad? Is it wireless? Might be worth going into Steam settings and disabling Steam input and then enabling again, I have to do that once in a while to fix controller issues.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Make sure you do not start SteamVR before starting the game and then launch from your steam library like you were playing flat, as long as your headset is active the mod should start up whatever else it needs. If none of that applies.... What kind of GPU do you have and can you please put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin or some equivalent and post a link here?

Brandon(Post Maester)

for cyberpunk (steam) my game only opens on the monitor not on the vr headset (oculus rift s)and the mod had no errors while installing

nezuko_777

Hmm something is off with the controls/resolution. I start the game in the boat and have shoot out - after that i should drive the boat.: The only way i could do that is to open the Mod menue and suddenly the button prompt came up and i could get behind the wheel. Now im behind the wheel and i cant do anything - i cant accelerate not with gamepad and also not with keyboard. What am i doing wrong? Button prompts seem also out of focus - i thing something is off with the resolution. Tried lost legacy there i cant even get on the truck... weird.

Maximilian Pütz

They have already confirmed major changes 🥲 but yeah, hopefully nothing that requires tons of time.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Fall is probably going to be busy for Luke's development I imagine. Hopefully nothing major will need to be done to get phantom liberty working after launch :x

OnairO2

Probably everyone is hoping for Starfield, we'll have to see how the launch goes (performance/bugs etc) and if the hype is merited first I imagine.

Brandon(Post Maester)

i joined because im hoping for starfeild . even it bethesda do VR lukes mods are WAY BETTER . game companies do not like this . they wana sell 15 years of horrible motion control games that focus on the opening of a door and re loading a gun . This is the most boring part of a game . luke ross mods are FUN

Mark Ashton

Just tested the newest release with my Pico 4 and VD and it seems to work just fine on my end. What kind of fps are you getting while the game is active (not paused) Using AER2 or Legacy?

Brandon(Post Maester)

How to configure the mod to word with Pico 4 + VD + RTX 4070? In Auto it uses Oculus but it have a lot of tracking delay + jittery (Cyberpunk). In Steam mode tracking is ok but picture is "dancing" like crazy, except menu.

Cezary Radziszewski

With a 4090 you can dial the resolution per pixel all the way to the max and the graphic would look crisp !

Wilson Ng

Uncharted has been one of my favourite franchises of all time and it was a delight to hear that this has been Lukes latest release. Ive played every single one of Lukes mods (going back to those 2 games that we do not speak of) and each and every one has been a delight to play with my 2080TI rig. But now Uncharted has been released i have stopped playing early as i have decided to bite the bullet and pay a small fortune for this bad boy https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk-gaming-radiance-drift-intel-core-i9-rtx-4090-powered-by-asus-gamin-fs-1es-og.html Looking forward to getting the best possible experience i can in VR as an upgrade was long overdue. Thank You as always Luke for your continued hard work in not only giving us these mods but also raising awareness that VR should not be overlooked and it is most definately the way forward and the better way to play these fantastic titles.

Gaz252

I was looking through the RealVR.ini in hope to find something there. But seems there is no line where you can disable that effect manually? It is really distracting and it worries me that this keeps implemented in future supported games too. Also afraid to update CP2077 to the newest mod version in fear this will happen there too.

Hoshi82

Make sure you don't have DSR on in Nvidia control panel, make sure the resolution reported in the launcher that opens before the game launches is the same as your monitors (hopefully 1080p or higher) rename the interposer file per the install instructions in the post linked bellow and after all that if you still get crashes, you may need to disable Steam Input in Steams controller settings or pick use default settings there (that fixed crashes for me). Let me know if that doesn't fix your issue :) https://www.patreon.com/posts/release-9-2-0-76568134

Brandon(Post Maester)

That is a hard one because although new, the 4060ti is not really that powerful of a card comparatively. You could have gotten a used 3080ti which I got pretty decent results with for $200 more, it is 40% extra performance over the 4060ti. I would turn down or off any settings possible (like useless screen space reflections in CP) beyond textures and make use of DLSS to get up higher in resolution which will get you the best visual results. I know that is easy to say when I am sitting here with a 4090 :( I remember that particular card getting terrible reviews when it released. You could try the route of hitting Nexus and grabbing mods that are meant to help the games run on older machines and see if that can get you some extra performance. I don't know if that will actually work out well but I'll throw it out there just in case. Also remember that games most likely do not update their DLSS version so it is beneficial to do so yourself. https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/ texture mods really help with Cyberpunk as well but 8GB of VRAM will limit you there also unfortunately. Might be worth doing some 2k texture packs though. This would be a good start with the balanced version. https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/7652 Nvidia was pretty shady and greedy with this generation of cards man, it really is a shame. Just for future purchases, I usually will scout out Amazon for a period of time looking under the "more buying options" and I can usually find a good deal if I am patient on something used-good or used-very good. I got $400 off my 3070 laptop because it has a defect on the top that has zero impact on performance and isn't even that noticeable. Just make sure it is being sold by Amazon or someone reputable.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Guys, I'll tell you what I have been tinkering with these mods for two days now, and tbh both of them (cyberpunk & uncharted) are more or less unplayable from blurry gfx to slow frame rates my PC isn't the best but it isn't the worst i9 + rtx 4060ti Yes the mods do work but on my machine, they look terrible and I have been working with them for two days and nothing has changed, I hope someone can show me something different.

Danny O'Neill

figured it was user error

robert tony

so nevermind, Im not sure how the setting of DLSS frame generation got set but after I realized it was on and turned it off mod works awesome

robert tony

not sure whats going on, updated to the new VR version and know in cyberpunk its pixelating bad, tried everything but cant get it to work, got to be something

robert tony

Yeah, it is super immersive! Glad you enjoyed it :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Just wanted to tell you that your Cyberpunk VR Mod has been the best gaming experience Ive ever had.

BIGBuddah Music

Make sure you put the mod files in the correct folder: C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64 Run the config file which should install without any errors hopefully. Then just run the game from your Steam Library like you were playing flat, don't open SteamVR at all. What kind of GPU does your laptop have?

Brandon(Post Maester)

How the hell do I launch Cyberpunk with this? It's just going in a windowed mode on my laptop. Should I be inside SteamVR on the laptop? It says "It looks like you don't have any VR applications yet'

Jake

thanks for that i've now got the overlay working, I'll have to tinker with the settings for a while.

Danny O'Neill

It should default to start and pause buttons for these games. Are you using the PPD slider in the REAL overlay to adjust the resolution?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Just downloaded the uncharted series and I'm loving it I have the settings on high setting but I've had to drop my resolution to 1920 x 1080 to have a fluid frame rate on my 4060ti but one thing every time I start the game the resolution jumps back to 2048 x 2048, one other thing I can't get the real VR overlay to come up I'm using an xbox 360 controller, in Cyberpunk I pause the game and press my two triggers together and the real vr overlay comes up but not in uncharted?

Danny O'Neill

Not currently but hopefully in the future here :(

Brandon(Post Maester)

I'm having the same issue

Jonathan Tate

Can the UI be fixed so the ammo is visible etc? its outside FOV.

Tomo

In Uncharted left and right eyes are changed.

Torstenbfv

Hi Brandon, with the new mod I tried to fire up spiderman again but it crashes even can’t start the game. I tried uninstall everything and still the same. Is there any step I missed to make spider vr work? I notice inside the realpo folder of the spider folder there’s nothing in it, is it normal?

Wilson Ng

Same here. But do u get the double image effect when u try to get to menu?

Wilson Ng

I tested a bit more with Uncharted and there was another thing I noticed. That was already aparent in High on Life and introduced in Atomic Heart. The "supertitles correction on/off" function that was implemented in AH by pressing the left thumbstick. This effect where the worldscale gets larger if you turn one side and smaller if you turn the camera the opposite side. When playing High on Life I didn't catch on instantly but here in Uncharted the effect is very noticable. With legacy AER it's okay but as soon as you use AERv2 with 1/2 or even 1/3 it constantly shifts worldscale big and small since you move the camera a lot. Pressing the left thumbstick does not turn off the effect. Is this an oversight in the mod itself? As mentioned before this effect also happens in High on Life with no way to disable it.

Hoshi82

I prefer the higher res and Legacy myself as well :) Some people enjoy the smoother feel of AER2 though, I just hope people have a good time :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

The feeling is great and i can really enjoy the full adventure ! But, no way to get enough fps with a rtx 4090 and a resolution above 3kx3k for details. AER2 is unplayable for me, can't get a stone "60 fps" in some area. Legacy aer only ! THX for the job anyway !!!

Cedric Piganiol

Only the Luke knows :) however, 2 DLC's coming out next month including Phantom Liberty! Then Starfield is coming out which would make a lot of sense for him to try and mod.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Does this mean the last of us could be done next? Do they share engines? I know naughty dog worked on both but the last of us would be a treat indeed

WIG

How did you fix the depth issue for others that may have the same problem? Was it just fixed by using the updated version?

Brandon(Post Maester)

The 10_1_1 update returned AER2 and my depth problem with VD is also fixed Not even dialled in fully yet but its already a thing of beauty. My only complaint is the five days I have to finish it before Baldurs Gate...then Starfield... thanks for your work Luke. This'll be one of my favourites I think.

Billy Bloggs

I would recommend dropping from Ultra to high, that alone will probably get you a lot closer to 90fps at whatever resolution you are playing at. Are you using 1/3 and therefore aiming for 60fps? What headset are you using? Is it still shaky at 90fps moving to 1/2 or Legacy?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Wow….I have bought Uncharted tonight and it is unbelievable. The first scene in the boat is amazing!! Well done Luke. I have a Pico 4, 4090 OC and 7800X3D and it runs like a dream. Resolution turned to max

Chris Jessoo

Fantastic! I've had the Legacy of Thieves collection sitting in my steam library for months just holding out on you to implement this (Still holding out for God Of War). One grand issue I am having though is the screen is VERY shaky. The shaking gets worse when I turn or move my head at all. The game runs great though, 60 FPS on Ultra but even after tinkering with all the settings and putting everything down to the lowest I am unable to reduce the screen shake. Any advice would be appreciated! I use an NVIDIA RTX A4500

Moist Man

Bruh, why you trying to retire Luke!? How will you (maybe) play Starfield in VR if you send him off into retirement?

Brandon(Post Maester)

It is start and pause buttons or their equivalent for these games, not the triggers or thumbpads.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Cyberpunk, spiderman, the holy grail of vr gaming that is gta... and now uncharted, Luke Ross can safely retire now. Go walk towards that sunset my friend. When i first put on a vr and played a demo of resident evil, i was blown away and me and my mate agreed, that uncharted would be the ultimate kind of vr experience. AND IT IS !! This and gta will be hard for any modder to top. I mean starfield ? Avatar ? Star wars outlaws anyone ??? The potential vr future will defo go mainstream. We just need more compact leightweight headsets similar to a htc vive xr but without the design flaws !!!

McFlyVR85

It's fix. Thanks for your reply another issue when using the dual sense controller, the menu doesn't work. Pressing on R3 and L3 doesn't bring up the overlay.

John Zigmont

Not currently and I don't think Luke plans on doing first person for this one, wouldn't be much benefit really.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Is the window outside of your monitor screen? Have you made any changes from the base settings set by the config file? You should be able to navigate the main menu on your monitor (at base res set by config) with the mouse and then the in game menu will appear in the proper place and you can make adjustments from there. What do you mean the overlay is not stationary? Is it moving around once you are at the main menu? You will need to use a gamepad to navigate the overlay.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Uncharted isn't working overlay settings are cut off and not stationary. I can't set the resolution.

John Zigmont

hello, good job thanks. Is there a 1st person mod ?

Pierre Della Rocca

Have you played any of Luke's other mods recently with the same setup? They work fine?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Got the latest version of the mod and aer 2.0 works now. However, still getting the swapped eye look. I just saw your reply Luke, about turning off triple or double buffering. All I see in the nvidia control panel is triple buffering, which is off. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

Jonathan Tate

Not in any type of motion aspect. There are probably ways to map the buttons to them but I haven't bothered trying to find them as I am happy with gamepad myself. You might actually be able to use Steam controller mapping for it but not sure. You could try asking on the Flat2VR discord, might get a better answer there :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hopefully will be addressed in the future here but no ETA yet. For now, it is a good idea to just familiarize yourself with the controls for that part and then its pretty simple to play through :) Don't forget to update the DLSS version as it is super outdated.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I also tried on the quest pro and have the same issues

Jonathan Tate

Interesting, neither of us had that happen when testing, even on lower end cards (3070 laptop and 2060). Where are you in the game? Are you using high settings or resolution? Headset and how is it connected? If you can give me a game save, I will check it out to see if it happens on my end as well.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Bosh! Excellent stuff, these games are beautiful and I imagine will be excellent in VR. Thank you

Active Frog4100

I am at a more difficult gun fight and got killed often. Thats where I noticed that the game often crashes on the desktop when you die. That was not before I installed the mod.

bpatchesnet

Some of those are known issues, as Luke says above, but the lack of AER 2.0 isn't mentioned and also I'm getting issues with the 3D. Does it look like normal 3D for you?

Jonathan Tate

Something with this mod in Uncharted is not working propperly. - The mod UI moves with your head instead of just placed in front of you as it normaly does. Also the "real mouse cursor" is always visible, even not having the UI open. It seems the game window does not get focused by the mod - navigation the UI with mouse also triggers ingame actions like shooting etc. which wasn't the case in other games before with that mod. - There is no AER 2.0, only legacy AER or mono Using Valve Index on Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 4090

Hoshi82

In addition to not having the AER 2.0 option, the 3D doesn't look right for me in Uncharted. Very hard to focus on close objects, and farther objects sometimes look closer, almost like what happens when the eyes are swapped on a 3D movie. I can adjust the worldscale to make it easier to focus but then it doesn't look very 3d, mono rendering almost looks the same

Jonathan Tate

Just the game I want!!!! Thanks

No_VR_no_buy

Siiiiiicl!!!😱😱😱😱

Remo Williams

I also have that issue

Jonathan Tate

Uncharted is Working quite well but... any thoughts on why I can't access AER2 modes? My REAL menu only displays Legacy AER and Mono as options in the dropdown. i7/3080/32 on a quest 1 running steam version of the game. Problem persists via VD and Link cable.

Billy Bloggs

Oh thank you so much, it looks and runs beautifully with DLSS, 4.5k x 4.5k and on ultra. Just one issue with the HUD like the black bar at the bottom with options to read or put away stuff. It sticks to my head movement and is slightly out of screen at the bottom so I can't read it. Same for the menue at the start. Am I missing an adjustment here?

Sabine G.

Hu, that's an odd path. Usually it would be something like D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64 What platform did you buy Cyberpunk on? I am wondering if it might be a game version issue as Luke's mod is built for the latest version.

Natasha Owens

Well, cypberpunk 2077 doesn't work for me. I paste the contents into C:\Gamez\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64, launch the cmd and still: "This application is not supported by the real mod!" Any fix? Using win 11, latest version. Latest GPU drivers, Latest cp2077 version. Not using any mods or modloaders. Game has been run on flatscreen before.

oOXenon TitareOo

This is an amazing mod, thanks for all you do Luke. This VR mod brings life back to some good games. I'm sure this has been said about 1000 times before if only we could use our vr controllers like with vorpX (One is aloud to dream) I stopped using vorpX about a year ago after paying something like 50euro (I used it for about 6 hours of gameplay) I bought your mod less than a week ago and have put in about 40 hours already. It's a perfect example of VR that is not 3D (like vorpx) But I really need my controllers. Can you tell me if it's even possible to link the VR controllers to your mod?

Dex

I don't think Steam has ps5 support for every game. Just depends on the game. I'll try mine out in the morning and let you know if I have a different result. I'm too old and tired to go down and up the stairs after midnight :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Did you check to make sure it is windowed? How does the game screen look on your monitor? Is that at the base res set by the config file or after adjusting?

Brandon(Post Maester)

I bought it quite a few sales ago just on the off chance :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

The performance would be so bad that it wouldn't matter if it did :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

25 bucks on cdkeys my man :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, once you get in game the menu should work properly. I also just used mouse and monitor for initial menu.

Brandon(Post Maester)

If I wasn't so addicted to Forbidden West right now (finishing up side quests before doing the final part of the game), I would be hooked on Uncharted 4 :) I don't like the climbing in comparison to FW but the characters and story seem really well done.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Knew it! Damn...I actually had it at the checkout for the steam sale and decided against it. Oh well...Downloading now... Thanks!!

Billy Bloggs

Make sure you have it in windowed mode. If you need to adjust the settings outside of VR first, just rename dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll, then rename back after. You will have to use the ppd slider in the REAL overlay to adjust res for these games though. Is the window too large at the base resolution set by the config file or did you already adjust it? At base res you should be able to just navigate the opening menu using mouse and your monitor.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Thanks, Luke, for the great VR adaptation for Uncharted--this game is made to be experienced in VR!!

Wayne Dzingle

I can not for the life of me get Uncharted setup right. The screens appear to big (in headset and monitor) to adjust the graphic settings. As is out of the box, its grainy and low res. I am running a 4070ti for GPU.

Vincent Baziuk

Thanks

jmarquez151

anyone has a tip how to get the ps5 controller to work ? was working fine before, plugged in, Steam Disabled , now I see the starting buttons on the game selection but no controller movements. Xbox controller works fine with Steam enabled.

Tomo

If I only new that... *MINOR SPOILER AHEAD* I am just playing Uncharted and I was at Chapter 16 or 17 exploring Libertatia yesterday and just thought "this in VR would be so nice". :-) Sadly I am nearly at the end now. But I still have Lost Legacy to play so I guess it's okay. Thank you for the mod, Luke. Edit: Just played it with your mod the first time. It's a really amazing experience.

bpatchesnet

Uncharted is very fun so far. I have hit on one issue. In the main menu when starting the game initially, the image appears to be double size with the viewport being only single size so only seeing the middle of the home screen. Problem being that the menu is in the upper left so I was unable to select anything there beyond random button presses. I was able to work around by removing the HMD and navigating the menu with mouse and start a new game. Once in the actual game everything looks perfect.

Natasha Owens

Ah another game I got to buy , looks super cool

WIG

GOD

Rytared

BIG! Thank you!

noah smith

works with path tracing in cb 2077?

doctor lsd

Just tried it on my pimax crystal and the menu isn't working right...the text is out of my field of view and the skeleton looks like the right and left eyes are reversed. This is with the oculus runtime as the openxr one has an issue with head movement like the pico 4 used to. Oculus runtime works with the other mods like Spiderman and horizon zero dawn

Jonathan Tate

Dude, me also! That is the only one I played before, I am a like 7-8 hours into 4 now and it has been pretty awesome in VR :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

It is 24.99 on cdkeys.com!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Your RealVR64.log file should be in the same game folder as the REAL mod files were placed. What kind of fps are you getting while the game is actively running (not paused)? Are you using 1/2, 1/3, Legacy?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Thanks so much for the continued Cyberpunk support!

J S

Hey Luke, thanks for this update. I was just firing up uncharted today to see if vorpx had a profile for it. I’m getting the REAL mod to work with it, but I’m getting an issue of incessant kaleidoscope-like flashing across the screen. I’m going to continue troubleshooting, and I see in your email instructions you say to upload the log files. How can I access those?

John

Sweet. I have only played Uncharted on my Vita, can not wait to experience it in VR.

Vincent Baziuk

I really wanted to tell you when you mentioned you were just going to play it :( Hopefully you can enjoy again in VR :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

As always, amazing job! Can't wait to jump in!

Brian Tate

WOW you are the man luke! thank you so much.

Siggi Gold

Hi, just woke up to say the uncharted theme song was going thru my mind, bye !! Back to sleep now !! Yeh i agree u sir are indeed a Geheenius !!!! Top man

McFlyVR85

Cercata

Wow wow wow Thank you so much! This is amazing! I’ve been dreaming and hoping for the Uncharted 4 VR mod for a long time. You sir are brilliant!
