Mega-update coming soon!
Added 2022-03-14 01:34:02 +0000 UTCStatus as of March 15: Adding to the list below, I came up with an idea for a novel user interaction mode that will allow you to read all the information in the HUD comfortably, even when it's headlocked (like during scans, remote hacks, looting, etc.), and no matter how small the center focus area on your headset is. I find it very intuitive and easy to get the hang of; it doesn't break the immersion in any way, and it completely changed my enjoyment of the more tactical aspects of Cyberpunk 2077. It's already working, and at this point it would be absurd not to include it in this mega-update, so please be patient one more day as I fine-tune its parameters and check its robustness in all situations. I will also record a tutorial/gameplay video showing it in action, to make it easy for you and the new Patrons to use it right away. Stay tuned []-D
This is just a placeholder post for the moment, but I wanted to give you guys a thorough heads-up: if you are playing Cyberpunk 2077 in VR, your experience is about to be transformed :-)
The upcoming release will have so many changes and improvements that at times it will feel like a different game. Just to be clear, no motion controls (you know what I think about that matter!) but basically everything else you've been asking for will be there:
- no more "firing from the chin" in any situation: my previous release 3.1.0 had already solved the issues with aiming down the sights, allowing you to push the gun and the character's arms into a correct and more comfortable position, but the upcoming one will also allow for complete camera control when hip-firing without any need for third-party mods. The same camera control can be used to raise V's point of view to a more natural height when walking, and there will also be independent controls for the 1st person driving camera;
- shooting from vehicles (the game only allows you to do that as a passenger, and in certain scripted missions) will now work correctly, with proper gun placement and gaze tracking both in crosshair mode and when aiming down the sights;
- turrets (again, scripted during some missions) will be fully controllable by gaze-based aiming and you'll no longer be required to blindly guess where your shots are going to land;
- all blades will work as expected (even the weirdo ones, you know what I'm talking about!) and so will shooting around corners from behind cover;
- the HUD will now headlock automatically when you look at lootable objects (briefcases, corpses, etc.) so it will be possible to quickly and thoroughly explore everything, even when stuff lies on the ground. I've found that this radically changes the game experience for the better, and I'm really sorry that it took me so much time to find out how to detect this kind of interaction;
- canted screens (like those on Pimax headsets, the Valve index in raw mode, and the Reverb G2 with its weird less-than-one-degree angle) will now be first-class citizens in my mod, and even with the huge angles of Pimax HMDs the objective markers in the Cyberpunk 2077 HUD will no longer appear double or misaligned;
- Virtual Desktop will be fully supported by all my Patreon mods! You'll be able to play wirelessly with the same quality and smoothness that earlier was only possible using the Link cable or Air Link. Guy Godin and I worked together for weeks to make sure that you'll get a perfect experience, with all the convenience that Virtual Desktop offers;
- my Cyberpunk 2077 mod will implement a new experimental feature to resize your in-game resolution dynamically at runtime, so that it adapts perfectly to your headset's field of view for maximum clarity and performance. This was mostly true already for headsets with normal FOV like the Quest 2, which work best with rendering aspect ratios of about 1:1, but you will get great improvements with large-FOV headsets like the Valve Index, and huuuge improvements with crazy-FOV HMDs like the Pimax family!
- speaking of Pimax, after much hair-pulling I finally found the root cause of their performance issues, and I'm now seeing frame rate improvements of about 30%, which bring them on par with top-performing headsets like the Index and the Quest 2. I also solved the Pimax stereo image problems that could cause discomfort and mess with your depth perception when using alternate eye rendering, which were due to a bug in their SteamVR driver. The same fix will also allow you to use Mono mode even with raw (non-parallel) projections;
- the mod overlay will no longer overflow the Windows desktop, even when playing at super-high resolutions, so it will be possible to fully navigate my UI with the mouse at all times;
- you'll be able to bind any key on the keyboard to the Recenter function, which is especially important for people who have accessibility problems and find it hard to use the headshake gesture.
Phew, that was a long post already! New release coming up in a day or two!!!

2022-11-04 00:29:36 +0000 UTCSince this post was more about HUD, I'll post my question here: Is there any way to remove red marker from upper left side of HUD and the human body icon from lower right? Disabling everything from game options does not remove them so I guess modding is required?

2022-03-27 12:23:07 +0000 UTCSure, just edit the RealVR.ini file with Notepad and find the [INPUT] section: in the line KeyOverlay=19,0,0,0 change 19 to the virtual key code for the key you want to use. Virtual key codes are here: https://cherrytree.at/misc/vk.htm

2022-03-17 12:54:50 +0000 UTCYou kinda have to have one preset for day and one for night or darker areas.

2022-03-17 07:54:11 +0000 UTCMy experience is that I can make things just as clear with reshade and DLSS as without DLSS pretty much. At least up close, distant visuals have issues either way. You can then increase resolution which is the best visual enhancer overall. The biggest problem for me is the different lighting scenarios in this game. Makes it hard to make just a simple reshade preset to be happy with. There are tools in reshade to determine when to apply shaders and when not to under certain conditions but I have not used them yet.

WIG
2022-03-16 16:39:07 +0000 UTCseems for now, you either deal with the ghosting and try to minimize it with reshade or remove taa and deal with more aliasing and try to minimize that with reshade.

2022-03-15 23:50:18 +0000 UTCIsn't it just easier to use a gamepad? I guess I am just used to growing up using one so it is way more comfortable and intuitive.
Brandon(Post Maester)
2022-03-15 23:10:29 +0000 UTCI use a headless ghost(mostly because it was cheaper than a 4k display) but I have found that I get a performance increase using it instead of my monitor. I know there is a debate about whether that is the case if you google but I can tell you that my ultra modded skyrimvr runs jittery if i use my monitor and smooth if i use the ghost. Just my experience though. They are super cheap on Amazon.

2022-03-15 22:05:49 +0000 UTCOk so got to test the Virtual Desktop update more fully. Using the touch controllers to emulate a gamepad works properly but there are a few things to note. 1. In the VD input tab tick the box that says emulate gamepad. 2. Select the press right thimbsttick option to use the D pad. That is you press the right thumbs tick and then use the left joystick as the D pad. 3. Press the right thumbs tick down and click the menu button on the left controller to get to the in game inventory map, notebook etc.

2022-03-15 18:58:33 +0000 UTCSounds great! Greatly appreciate your work. Any chance of binding the mod hud with another key than the pause key, for all of us without a pause key. I cant figure out how to open the hud for the life of me. Holding both triggers never worked for me, and there seems to be no file to adjust in Horizon Zero Dawn that would do the trick.

2022-03-14 13:27:42 +0000 UTCSo, did making this mod for cyberpunk make a future mod for Witcher 3 an easier process? I think Cyberpunk probably has a pretty lengthy future in terms of DLC and mods, so I am of the opinion that it would be worth the work to eliminate the blur when playing in stereo. If this would also help with a blur free Witcher 3 mod in the future that would be even better :)

2022-03-14 03:14:51 +0000 UTCI can only concur, with 35 hours in as well. I hope CDPR will add more content sooner rather than later after 1.5. However, LukeRoss' mod has really saved it. This game is a killer in VR and my only regret is not having PC and VR headset from 2 decades later to get even more out of it.

2022-03-14 02:50:55 +0000 UTCYou can disable anti aliasing in cyber engine tweaks, you can then use SMAA via reshade this fixes shimmer ๐

2022-03-14 02:45:06 +0000 UTCI worked out how to disable the Forced TAA using this https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/63?tab=description Perhaps such a minor ini tweak could be rolled into a option of REAL VR? I think this can be toggled via cyber engine tweaks mod at run time The obvious down side is that without any AA the jagged pixels are so bad I think I might cut open my eyes. For some reason I could not find a way of forcing on FSAA in the Nvidia control panel, the usual option seemed to be ignored but I managed to get some good results playing around with the reshade presets. If at all possible it would be nice to get some real multi sampling/anti aliasing that is not going to produce weirds shimmers because of AER but I understand if it's not easy to do

2022-03-14 02:04:22 +0000 UTCWow, sounds like a great update! I really look forward to testing it on my Pimax 8KX. I've been using my Quest 2 because I was getting better performance out of it at a higher resolution than I could use on my 8KX. The colors are much better on the 8KX though, since no video compression is involved, so I'd rather play on that if I could use the same resolution that I can use on the Quest 2. I've really been having a great time with the mod with nearly 70 hours in the game so far with most of that being done on side missions and activities. Sounds like this update will make it even better!
