What do you want me to do next?

Now that the support dust storm is finally beginning to settle down, I would really like to hear your opinion about what I should be doing next.

The different choices do not have the same impact in terms of complexity and time needed to deliver, so I put [small | medium | large] effort next to them to have some context, although in modding it is very hard to make reliable time estimates: what looks like a small undertaking might very well turn out to be impossible in the end due to some quirks with the target game(s), and vice versa.

Generally speaking, a "small" effort might take me a few days, "medium" might be measured in weeks, and "large" in months. Again, very hard to tell for certain before actually doing the thing.

is it possible to create a vr mod for the division 1 ubisoft?

Hi Luke, wasn’t sure where to put this question but it is regarding GTA V VR. Is there a way to get Natural Vision Evolved enb working in VR?

half life 2 VR

Rafael Rodriguez

Compability with https://vrtoolkit.retrolux.de/ (Reshade-based sharpening) would be very nice if not already supported. Also fholger's FSR: https://github.com/fholger/openvr_fsr

stylesi

Head-based locomotion has been implemented (experimentally) since version 1.2.0

LukeRoss

Head locomotion and snap turn would improve comfort of this mod imo. Both or either i would love to see 👍

Nicky Butler

Hi! As I wrote here (https://www.patreon.com/posts/version-1-3-0-53295355), I'm going to take some time (a few weeks at least) to extend the mod so that it can attach to DX11 and DX12 games. And it looks like in a few days that will have to go on the backburner too, because everybody is excited about the new DLSS update that is coming to RDR2, which is probably going to break the mod and/or to require additional fixing on my part :-)

LukeRoss

Hi Luke Whats your next project?

Steve Thurston

KC:D +1!

pampalini303

+1

Stuart

KC:D would certainly be a good candidate for VR conversion! Not sure how much interest it would garner, as nobody seems to be playing it or even talking about it anymore these days. I wouldn't worry too much about forced camera movements, as my mods are always very intense and meant for people with robust VR legs :-)

LukeRoss

@lukeross did you ever put any thought into whether the game Kingdom come deliverance could be Modded for vr? I think that game would be an amazing vr game & I believe at one point early on, the devs had plans to put it into vr but it never happened. One possible problem would be the fight mechanics as they force move the camera as you get knocked around. But maybe there are ways around this?

VirtualmisterL

Snap turn please!

Cyberpunk?

What about horizon zero dawn? That would be pretty awesome in vr. Witcher 3?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Thanks! Yeah, the only major VR-related news I've seen is Facebook beginning to spam VR headsets with ads :-(

LukeRoss

After E3 2021, looks like there is no too many triple A games coming to VR, or a lack there of. It’s great to see Luke taking initiative

andy lee

My top requests right now besides continued improvement on RDR2 are Cyberpunk 2077 and Resident Evil 7, please!

Tarun Charaipotra

Breath of the wild Mod

ferrero man

Would The Outer Worlds be too hard to mod for VR (without using vorpx)?

Shawn Colton

Thanks for quick reply - keep up the good work

Only if Guy Godin is willing to take another stab at it. VD doesn't support independent eye poses correctly. I already worked with him in the past but he didn't have a lot of time to dedicate to the matter, and he was hitting some limitations in the Oculus mobile SDK

LukeRoss

Is virtual desktop compatibility in the future? That new SSW is amazing. would that help frame rates?

Yes, I just got a Vive pro 2 and noticed the same thing. I think there is something going on with the way the rendering is handled on the Vive Pro 2. I suspect that some kind of motion smoothing is going on even when you have the motion smoothing option turned off. I found that the only way to get rid of the shimmer with the VP2 was to set the mod to the "mono" render mode instead of Stereo. The shimmering goes away then. My Quest 2 works way better with it also

william mumford

I have a vive pro 2 and the shimmer it very bad on the headset. The quest 2 works way better with less shimmer

yes more horror games please

Carl Adoni

turn of txaa and the shimmer goes

resident evil 7 we all want it, if its possible :D

The "shimmer" around objects is the one thing that really bugs me with the current version. Other than that, this mod is incredible. So fixing the shimmer gets my vote.

Matt van Andel

Do you think you can implement the DLSS when it arrives in your VR mod? DLSS VR looks pretty ok in NMS.

then maybe give it 2-3 weeks to arrive and in the meanwhile just work on the winner of the smaller effort category?

Joe Vandelay

I would never have thought that TAA would win! Where do you get the few weeks' time for DLSS? All I found in official comments is "soon" :-)

LukeRoss

democraty is a bitch xD spending weeks to work on TAA just before a dlss update which comes in few weeks ... what a potential waste to my opinion ... but hey, votes are here :)

Emile Tixeuil

Luke, your last update was amazing. Feels so good to play right now. I find myself satisfied just wandering around in that huge world doing very little of anything important. It was still my favorite VR experience before the update, but now it’s crystal butter! As far as future work. I’m torn between the TAA fix or the one that would allow CAS. With the right settings and high enough resolution, I barely notice the shimmer the TAA introduces around objects. Maybe I’m getting used to it, who knows? I still voted for this. Now, a fix that would allow a reshade like CAS or better yet the Nvidia control panel or overlay’s sharpening tool, may actually have a bigger impact on visuals. I can’t get over how blurry TAA makes distant objects. This seems much more apparent in first person VR than it ever did in 3rd person pancake mode. However, the DLSS update may reduce the severity of these issues if it does end up working with the mod. Fingers crossed! I would really like to play something like Cyberpunk or Far Cry (5 or any) in VR. I’m a huge fan of The Witcher, but It’s first-person VR all the way for me. I live for the moment when you forget that you are wearing a HMD and think you’re really there.

Clint

My only complaint is that it crashes once in a while. It seems to be menu related. The most recent few crashes were as I was selecting weapons from horse (rifle, and throwing knives). I vote for crash reduction.

It might be a little far from worthwhile but it would be cool to walk around cyber punk in vr as unfinished as it is. Or perhaps something that wouldn't face a ban in multiplayer, maybe a smaller title (for example sake) like Intruder where the devs might condone it for the sake of exposure without necessarily disturbing the game. Regardless, looking forward to what comes next.

Optimize please. It isn't as bad, but still getting some ghosting even at Low settings.

Luke you should work on The Witcher 3 as your next project. I think it probably would even be a bit easier to get it up and running smoother than RDR2. It works with vorpx on immersive mode very well but its just a big 3d screen, I managed full VR too but has bad pop in. There is already a camera adjust mode to make first person as well but would still look great in third person. The other game I would love to see you do is Death Stranding, again it looks great with vorpx immersive but not true VR. The game needs VR anyway, very immersive indeed.

The Merote

It looks bloody amazing on Q2 with these settings.

The Merote

For all of you Oculus Quest 2 users go to my Patreon page and get my optimise setting file for Quest 2, it's free of course. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=10057987&fan_landing=true

The Merote

what will use gamecinema or whatever its called while steam vr is active do, i reinstalled and have been playing with it by accident for a while.

Tormod Brynestad

The problem lies with Virtual Desktop not supporting independent eye poses correctly, there's nothing I can do on my side. Why do you say that's all you have though, are you using a Shadow PC?

LukeRoss

Please make it compatible with Virtual Desktop... that's all I have so I can't play from what I read in the install file.

If you activate "Show FPS" from the mod overlay, what do you get during gameplay?

LukeRoss

Optimize even more pls, make the game be smooth as a noodle 💯

Is it feasible to run RDR2 in VR with a GTX 1070Ti, Ryzen 5 3600, and 16GB RAM or is my PC just a Potato? I've tried running on the Low setting and even with all the textures at low, it's still too choppy. Is there a way to optimize this to work or should I give up? I'm running a Quest 2 via Air Link and ASW turned off.

I am sure you could keep tweaking RDR2 mod forever but what we have already is just amazing!! I would be very excited to see a new project. Witcher 3 would be amazing as would Cyberpunk!

Greyhaim

The mod should not look jittery at all in the headset. Although it's subjective, I suspect that you're not getting the same experience other people are. Did you read the Troubleshooting post? Which headset do you have?

LukeRoss

I know the mod is limited by the alternate eye 3D method, but is there any sort of hacks to fix this? Like can u possibly just slow everything down by one frame, like keep the first left eye frame in memory somehow and then only display it when the first right eye frame is shown? Or for headsets that have two screens, just switch one off every second frame to create pseudo shutter glasses? I have zero knowledge how any of this works so excuse me if that's impossible, but I just can't play this game for more than about 30 mins or I'm left with jittery eyes for hours after.

The guy who made alien isolation VR is working on master chief collection in VR with full motion controls.

Great job on RDR2. I prefer if u can work on the next game: Cyberpunk, Witcher 3, Far Cry series, Halo Series. I’ll stay on Patreon until all of these are done and have support.

andy lee

Wish there was a timeline posted somewhere for the dlss support. If it were a week or two it could make sense to knock out a few small fixes before tackling taa. On the other hand i don't think dlss helps amd cards so a taa fix will likely still need done.

TeQuilYa

What headset are you using?

LukeRoss

What do you mean? Could you give some examples of what you have in mind?

LukeRoss

I think he means the animations, when you skin an animal etc ...

Cercata

I think Witcher 3 would be awesome too. It's more fun than Cyberpunk 2077 in my humble opinion, and would benefit from VR more as well. Vorpx doesn't work right for it especially if you try to put it in first person via one of the 2 existing mods. There's a hint of how awesome it would be but ultimately the UI problems make it not worth the effort

Bob Douglass

Voted for Contrast Adaptative Sharpener but I need mod fixing still ! I'm after picture clarity so, I have all AA in-game disabled. I use resolution scaling /supersampling instead. I'm set on medium settings for an RTX3090 (SteamVR's smoothing Off) and I still got some kind of ghosted renderings even when hitting 90fps. It looks like a bad interleave projection that tries to blend previous and current frames together. Never managed to get a clean, fluid smooth motion in any situation (even at low res / low settings). I'm lucky I'm strong on my VR legs but this is seriously limiting the enjoyment. I've noticed that the frame timing never gets over 85ms even at full charge when FPS gets down to 59 in some places. Is the mod really using all the room available for computations or are there some quirks, especially with RTX series ?

Hello. Could you implement special features to Red Dead VR ? Features impossible to have on a normal pc? Thanks

I prefer first person view as it feels like I am there but I guess each to their own.

WIG

I got it working on my G2 (runs better on my OQ2 thou), I'm running the Rockstar version, I don't do anything special, I just make sure my Oculus software isn't runnng, Mixed reality portal is running, and found headset, xbox controller is on and it runs. Isn't there a checkbox that needs unchecking in steam to do with theater mode.

Steve Thurston

i aint gonna complain because i realy like what you are doing, but i still didnt get it to work on my reverb g2. followed the instructions but i still get the game in theater mode.

Far cry 3 would be the best

beatet

My mod is here: https://github.com/LukeRoss00/nolf2-real-mod For the game itself, see https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/no-one-will-sell-no-one-lives-forever-so-lets-download-it (it's a pretty sad situation)

LukeRoss

Personally I think games that have a 3rd person view are best with these types of mods. Games with ONLY 1st person view will have less users.

Steve Thurston

i voted start working on another game, too.Cyberpunk or watchdogs legion would be fine

If it is Possible to knock out all that you Mentioned that would be Great! But, I am Happy just being able to Play the Game in VR it changes the whole Feel of the Game. Thank you Luke Great Job. Curious, Is it Possible to do the Same to the FAR CRY Series...? Would be a Dream Come True to Play FAR CRY 3,4,5, New Dawn, and Even the 6 that is Coming Soon. Well, Really you do what you like. I am Grateful for All that you do. Thank you Very Much! 😁😉👍

i voted start working on another game, preferably cyberpunk 2077

Cristian Hunt

Anyone know where we can get "Noone lives forever 2" ?

Steve Thurston

Love the Mod as it is. File does need renaming thou, to RDR2_REAL_mod_by_LukeRoss_v1_1_0.zip

Steve Thurston

Easy, block the head movement with the stick when Arthur are over the horse, on first person controller

I love what you did already, sleeping next to a river was my dream ;)

NaJi3D

Reshade presets would be the best ever!

SecretHippo1

Not at the moment, sorry

LukeRoss

There is some really annoying uncontrollable head movement in places. Maybe some way to go around that?

For the "make Arthur's body rotate automatically when you turn your head", if you do it, please make it optional, I love it the wa it is now, so you can look at the sides easily: Edit: I'm blind, I see it says optionally already XD For the TAA fix, that would be nice, but I would wait for the inminent DLSS implementation, that could be a waste of time ... And the small effort ones, I'm not keen for them, but if it's really a question of days, that could bring maybe some new patreons, and make this more sustainable in the long run
