Version 1.0.3 EARLY ACCESS

With this release, gamepad activation and navigation of the mod overlay should finally be fixed for all users. It turns out that Steam's own hooking of the controller was interfering.

Another small change: RealConfig.bat will now create the Settings folder in case it doesn't already exist. That should solve the issue where you needed to have run the game at least once after the first installation in order for the mod settings to be effective.

I was asking about the game version, not the mod version. Also, what I meant is briefly going to stereo and then returning to mono, not staying in stereo

yea and i do that, but that basicly takes away the point of higher fps i think, doesnt it, i have done it and it makes kinda a difference, but not too much, also i read that the mission update thing is a known issue, but i couldnt find any fix, so i guess restarting is what it will come too

Which version of RDR2 do you have? For the aiming dot, other users have reported that it's enough to toggle mono off/on to get rid of the problem

That Alert comes up when the gamepad gets disconnected (due to low battery if it's wireless, or USB problems if it's wired). Check whether there's something wrong with your controller...

@LukeRoss I have two very alarming problems which is breaking immersion for me, first is that i want to play in momo, since it basicly looks the same but with an insane frame boost. Problem is that the aiming dot is split into two dots that i must shoot between, and i cant play with that since i die at all battles. Second problem is that missions dont update and i must die or quit for them to show. I finnish the mission where i need to steal the oil wagon but the second part where i must give info of where i placed it doesnt show up, then i quit and rejoin and it shows. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix any of these problems?

Hi, I have downloaded the current 1.0.3 version and have troubles that my Overlay get activated while in-game when squeezing both triggers. (which happens when you aim and fire :( ). I'm new to this game and mod (only bought everything for this VR mod). I haven't had any other mods installed, I ran the `.bat` before even starting the game first. This did not happen in the first mission, only now in the second one, where I'm at the mining camp attack. Also sometimes the whole screen gets dark then with "Alert. Press any button to contine". I actually have to move around the mouse then, pressing buttons on the gamepad doesn't work to get me out of this. I by now also tried this without VR, same behaviour. Any help would be greaty appreciated. I would also be completely okay to disable the overlay at all... PS.: Get as technical as you need to, I'm a programmer myself and would really like to fix this. mind if i ask how yu get it to play one quest. I am assuming you are using the link cable. Do you do it through steam?

U can stand up using an xbox controller too... Might not as comfortable holding your hands in that position compared to two separate controllers so the suggestion is still valid.

I have 2 suggestions for better comfort and avoiding blur when turning the camera, I don't know if it is possible with this mod but the Alien Isolation mod has them, snap turn and touch controls, not full touch support but using the touch controls instead of an Xbox controller means you could stand up and play and turn in any direction you want instead of using the right stick to turn. I have a setting profile mainly for Quest2 if anyone wants to give it a go I'll post another link, It's a balance between performance and high resolution to match the quest 2's res. There is still a bit of blur when turning with right still but what can you do.

There are a couple of settings you can change, and if you bother to read Messages a long way down you will find great tips which i have used lately and it fixed blurryness, low Frames, bad Graphics and discomfort. One easy one for the horse problem is turn down headbopping while on horse in the ingame settings

Hello, I just tried your wonderful mod, and first thanks, it's awesome ! But I also have some different things to say, first the position of the camera in first person doesn't really fit the virtual one, so when you're running or going fast with your horse, it's kind of weird, and I also have a question, do you plan to overhaul the entire game ? I mean how the aiming works ? Using controllers of the quest instead of an xbox controller ? Thanks for everything !

Have you tried stabilizing the headset by resting one hand against it? That and holding my breath for a second are the tricks I usually use to snipe in VR, both with RDR2 and GTA V. It also helps if you dial back the zoom a bit (always possible in GTA V, but not with all guns in RDR2)

Ya I noticed that as well. I wasn't disoriented per se, but I've definitely had times I can't see the map well while trying to locate/run down an npc.

i noticed that when a weapon is drawn the map and hud moves with your head which can bit abit disorientating when trying to look at the map because it moves. any one else experience this?

Thanks for the confirmation! Rotating your head IRL activates the motion sensors on your headset, and allows for real-time correction of the view (what is usually called ATW or reprojection). Rotating the camera with the stick does not, which means that the VR runtime cannot compensate the motion. I'm already working on a solution to simulate rotational input to the VR runtime in order to make smooth turning, er, smoother, but I cannot give any timeline yet because it's quite a complex issue.

Confirm that the sqeeze triggers works for me too. What is behind the difference between head movement, very smooth, and stick movement, a bit choppy? Both maniplulate the camera so why does stick movement (also riding horses) cause the jitter and not the headset?

Ditto, very nice having easier access to the overlay now, thanks Luke! I'm running the game in ultra now and the TAA shimmer is greatly reduced in stereo VR, but I'm finding that I just prefer the crisper video when I toggle to mono vision in the overlay. To each his own of course, but that's my preference at the moment. I'm going to take this playthrough slow, a little at a time, so I still have plenty of game left to play whenever the DLSS update and comes (and additional REAL updates).

Luke! This works great now. Easily accessed the Overlay when I was unable to before. Thanks for all your hard work. Will it be possible to work on the camera movement with the stick in Stereo?
