Development Update – A Shift in Creative Direction

Kagerou has been a key contributor to the project for some time, delivering several memorable maps that played a strong role in defining Hard-Life’s visual and spatial identity. Their work has always carried a distinct style—bold, atmospheric, and sharply defined—which added character to the experience we’re building.
Over time, it became increasingly clear that Kagerou’s artistic direction aligned more naturally with the visual goals and tone of Half-Life: Extended. The synergy between their mapping style and Extended’s aesthetic has proven to be a strong match, and we’ve seen their creative momentum thrive in that space.
While their current focus has shifted, we remain grateful for the chapters they helped build in Hard-Life’s world. Their past work remains part of our foundation, and we wish them continued inspiration and success as they explore new territory with the Half-Life: Extended team.
