Sight Unseen 33

“We haven’t even been here two hours can you at least wait until after lunch to bother me?”Bella asked. Rosalie perked up when she heard the question. They had been at the trampoline place for two hours and Bella had asked to take her second break ten minutes prior claiming to need to go to the bathroom. Rosalie had decided to wait for Bella at a table with Irina and Tanya to spend time with the human while she was resting. Rosalie had hoped that the ghosts would leave Bella alone for at least the rest for the trip but it didn’t seem like that was going to happen. Looking up Rosalie was unsurprised that Tanya and Irina looked just as concerned as she did. Rosalie was also unsurprised when the other four in the group join the trio all but Alice with looks of excitement on their faces. Alice looked frustrated so Rosalie figured she was trying to force a vision to see what trouble Bella was being pulled into this time.

“Is she talking to a ghost?”Kate hoped Bella was. Although she liked jumping on trampolines Kate knew helping Bella would be more fun. Especially if they got to break into more houses or safes.

“No one else went into the bathroom with her so I think so.”Irina had been monitoring Bella while she was out of sight. She gave her daughter privacy while she was using the bathroom but once she heard the toilet flush she started listening again.

“What do you think it is this time?”Emmett like Kate hoped Bella was talking to a ghost so that they could go on another adventure.

“Shh she’s talking again.”Irina shushed Emmet.

“Alright I get it. Life or death blah blah blah. Just get to the point.”Bella said.

“Life or death?!”Rosalie didn’t like the sound of that.

“Alright a couple questions before we continue. What is a mate? Why am I the only one who can save mine and who are the Volturi?”Bella asked.

Tanya felt the feeling of dread overwhelm her.”Oh god no.”

“Why would Rosalie be in danger from the kings?”Alice didn’t understand that part.

“I don’t know.”Rosalie couldn’t think of why the kings would be after her.

“Wait a second. You are trying to tell me that I have a soul mate, that soulmate is a vampire and the Volturi are some horrible men who rule with an iron fist?”Bella asked.

“Shit.”Kate looked to Alice.”How does this go down?”

Alice shook her head.”I’m not seeing anything about this. Ever since we officially met Bella I haven’t gotten any visions about her future at all.”

“That’s not good.”Emmett mumbled.

“No it isn’t.”Tanya hated that her fear was now growing worse. She tried her best to focus when Bella began talking again.

“I guess the vampire thing makes sense. I mean they aren’t really that good at acting human. I clocked Rosalie the night she met me in the woods and the others aren’t really that subtle either.”Bella said.

Kate laughed.”And we were worried about telling her.”

“That is one less thing to worry about. Now we have to figure out the danger.”Irina was happy that Bella knew what they were but worried about how the kings were involved.

“About the mate thing though. Are you sure this Victoria is my mate? I mean I’m kind of dating Rosalie and she doesn’t seem the type to string someone along.”Bella said.

“What the fuck?”Rosalie a move to go to Bella and tell the ghost off but was stopped by Irina’s hand grabbing her arm.”Let me go.”

Irina shook her head.”We need to know everything that is going on first. Bella isn’t aware we can hear her so she can’t hide anything from us like she will do if you go in there and confront her.”

“Fine but I will be correcting the ghost when we see Bella.”Rosalie huffed as she took her seat. She wasn’t going to let anyone tell Bella that Rosalie wasn’t her mate.

“You can have two mates? The three queens were mates?”Bella asked.

“What the fuck?”Kate repeated the phrase this time.

“The queens are mates?”Garett thought that the kings were mated to the queens.

“I’m not sure if I’m capable of rescuing Didyme. I’m still human and they have her in a pretty secure location.”Bella said.

“What the fuck?”Tanya ignored the shocked looks she got from the others.”Didyme is dead.”

“Apparently not.”Alice thought the queen had died over a thousand years ago.

“Oh so I need to save Victoria so she can help me save Didyme because Victoria is my mate correct?”Bella asked.

“What the hell kind of mess has Bella gotten into this time?”Kate was excited to be involved but they would need time to prepare to rescue the lost queen.

“Ok so I need to get the vampires I’m with to take me back to Forks right now because Victoria is in the area and this will be the only time our paths will cross? And you are sure that both Rosalie and Victoria are my mates?”Bella paused for a second before talking.”They aren’t mated to each other though got it. What else do I need to know?”

“I’m booking our flight now. Alice and Emmett I need you two to run the stuff we didn’t send home back to Forks.”Tanya pulled out her phone and got started on booking flights.

“So Bella has two mate bonds then?”Alice had heard of multiple mates but it was rare.

“I don’t trust the ghost. It’s to convenient. I think they know the vampire and are trying to get Bella to save the vampire’s life by claiming a false mate bond.”Rosalie didn’t believe for a second that Bella had to two mates.

“It’s not unheard of to have two mates.”Irina wasn’t sure what she believed but it seemed the ghost had some good information.

“Alright I’ll talk to the others. I don’t think they will trust you though.”Bella said.

“She’s right we don’t trust the ghost.”Kate confirmed.

Rosalie opened her mouth to say something but closed it when Bella walked back into the room with her head down looking at the floor. Rosalie frowned at the stance.”Everything ok?”

“You already know the answer to that. I mean you all heard me talking.”Bella wish she had known the group had such good hearing because she would have liked to know her privacy was being invaded.

Irina flinched at Bella’s tone.”Yes we did and we all would like to say how sorry we are that we didn’t tell you what we are.”

“I understand why you didn’t. The laws are very clear and the kings are ruthless dictators. I just would have liked to have known that you have heard my every move when I am around all of you.”Bella told her.

“The kings are ruthless dictators and you are right we should have told you that.”Tanya agreed.”That being said we only heard your part of the conversation. What kind of trouble are you in now?”

“I’m not in any trouble but it seems my mate Victoria is.”Bella jumped back when Rosalie shot out of her seat and growled loudly.

“I am your mate.”Rosalie wouldn’t have anyone even Bella saying otherwise.

Kate wrapped her arms around Rosalie and pulled her away from Bella.”Calm down you are scaring Bella.”

“I don’t like her claiming to be someone else’s mate.”Rosalie ground out through gritted teeth.

“Anne said you would act like this and likely wouldn’t change your mind until you had proof from queen Didyme of the mate bond I have with Victoria.”Bella was not looking forward to Rosalie’s outburst until then.

“Rosalie if you don’t calm down so we can hear the whole story you are to wait outside.”Tanya wanted to get the information she needed to keep her daughter safe and she couldn’t do that with Rosalie acting like a wild animal.

Rosalie took a few deep breaths and thought about how she would feel if she was forced outside.”I am calm now.”

“Alright.”Kate let Rosalie go but stayed close to her just in case she acted out again.

“Good now Bella start with why we need to go back to Forks.”Tanya said.

“My other mate Victoria is traveling with two men. One of them is a very good tracker named James. James has her believing they are mates when they are in fact not. The reason we have to go to Forks is the trio is in the area right now and it’s the only chance I will get to meet Victoria. Anne said that when I do Victoria will realize the man lied to her and it’s her hope that Victoria kills him. James has gotten on the kings radar and it’s only matter of time before they go after him and kill her for her involvement in his crimes. His crimes being that he isn’t careful with his kills and has many humans asking questions about his victims.”Bella explained.

“So she is in a false mate bond with a psycho and we need to save her before the kings get her?”Emmet asked.

Bella nodded.”That’s the basics. Anne told me about Victoria’s history and some other stuff that isn’t important to you guys.”

“I think everything Anne told you is important to us.”Irina wanted to know everything the ghost told Bella.

“Actually some of it was kind of personal between me and Victoria. I don’t feel comfortable sharing it with you without Victoria’s permission.”Bella wasn’t sure if Victoria was her mate or not but she wouldn’t break the woman’s trust until she was sure.

”Be that as it may I think it would help us if we know everything about Victoria.”Rosalie wanted to know everything about the woman who was a making a false claim.

”Yeah I don’t so.”Bella didn’t feel right about it.”Are you all ok with leaving today?”

”Bella if we are going to save Victoria we need to know everything about her. It will help us be better prepared for the situation.”Tanya needed to know everything about the stranger they were saving.

Bella shook her head.”The only one this will help is me and Victoria. So I will have to once again decline sharing the information with you guys.”

“Fine what else did Anne say. You said something about a dead vampire named Didyme.”Kate didn’t care about whatever Bella was keeping from them. She cared about the dead queen.

“Didyme isn’t dead. Two men named Aro and Caius wanted to kill her because she questioned them about the fake bonds they were having a guard create. Including her own and the other two queens’. Apparently Didyme is Aro sister and he went behind Caius’ back and instead of killing her has kept her locked away in a castle that is heavily guarded. Anne said that he didn’t save her for noble reasons he had been trying to make her loyal so he can exploit her gift.”Bella told them.

“What the fuck?”Now it was Emmett’s turn to use the phrase.

“Wait you are trying to tell us that Didyme has been alive all this time and no one but her guards and Aro knew?”Irina wanted to make sure she understood what Bella was saying.

“Yes Anne also told me that the three queens are all mated to each other.”Bella said.

“Jesus.”Tanya fully believed Bella was telling the truth it was just the truth was so shocking.

“What does Anne want us to do about this?”Rosalie didn’t think that they stood a chance to rescue the queen.

“Anne told me we can’t rescue Didyme until I have mastered my shield. She told me a ghost is going to come soon and teach me how to shield other people’s minds. She told me that Edward is dangerous and that I need to have you all protected by the time we get back to Forks so he doesn’t find out about the queen and tell Aro.”Bella was happy that she could help the group.

“She knew you were a shield?”Alice asked.

“Anne knew a lot of stuff. I didn’t ask her how she knew because she wouldn’t have told me. All the ghosts know a lot of things and always refuse to tell me how they know.”Bella used to be frustrated with the lack of information but she didn’t care anymore.

“Get back to you shielding us how are you going to do that?”Irina was most interested in having her mind protected.

Bella shrugged.”Anne only told me that a man named Hank will be visiting me any minute to help me learn how to shield other people’s minds. I don’t have any details.”

“And Anne doesn’t know how we are going to rescue the queen either?”Tanya was very pleased with the idea of having her mind shielded.

“To tell you the truth she told me she wasn’t supposed to tell me about the queen. She looked really shock after she said it. I think she might get in trouble for it. She didn’t offer Hank’s help until the end so I don’t think Hank is suppose see me this soon.”Bella hoped Anne didn’t get onto too much trouble.

“So the queen might not even be our problem then.”Irina was relieved to hear that.

Bella shrugged again.”She might not be right now but she could be in the future.”

“I don’t know about you guys but I’m all for saving the queen. It would be nice to finally get revenge on the kings.”Kate would love to be the person who kicked them off their thrones.

“We need to start training more.”Garret knew they weren’t ready to rescue the queen.

“We will start as soon as we get home.”Irina wanted to get the family ready for what was to come.

“We need to save Victoria first. Anne said that the man Laurent that travels with them has a gift. She said it was glamour on steroids. He could convince anyone of anything. He is the other reason I need to give you the blocks. They will protect you from him and all other metal gifts.”Bella told them.

“That means we don’t have to worry about the witch twins anymore.”Emmett would be more than happy to have his and Alice’s minds protected.

“Shit I didn’t think of that.”Kate definitely wanted the shield now.

“When do we have to meet Victoria?”Tanya wanted to make a plan.

“It’s going to storm tomorrow night so Anne suggested that we play baseball. It is the only thing that would actually catch their interest that wouldn’t lead to a fight right away. Plus it’s Victoria’s favorite game and she always wanted to play.”Bella hoped that she would get a chance to play baseball with Victoria. After the life Victoria lived Bella wanted to do all she could to make the woman find some happiness.

“I love playing baseball.”Alice liked that it was a game her gift couldn’t predict.

“I know the perfect spot we can play.”Emmett liked playing baseball as well.

“What do we tell the others?”Rosalie didn’t want to meet this Victoria vampire for fear the woman really was Bella’s second mate. It seemed that Bella already had an attachment to her and Rosalie desperately wanted to know what Anne had said about Victoria that made Bella form that attachment.

“Anne was firm in telling me that Edward can not be trusted. That I was to tell all of you that he would sell you all out in a second if it got him favor from the kings. Something he has been actively trying to do because he is trying to get a royal advisor role.”Bella wasn’t sure what that was but based on the looks on the group’s faces Edward wanting one was disgusting.

“I’m not surprised.”Tanya thought that was exactly something Edward would do.

“We knew he was talking to Aro.”Rosalie said.

“Well he hasn’t had anything to tell Aro before but now there is Bella.”Irina didn’t like that Bella would be vulnerable to the Volturi.

“I was actually thinking about that. What if Edward thinks that he could use Bella to overthrow the kings? Then he wouldn’t tell Aro about her. He would want her for himself.”Emmett knew Edward’s real goal was to be a ruler.

“We should drop hints. Like mention Aro being lucky Bella doesn’t want to rule because her gift makes most of the guard useless.”Alice suggested.

“When we come back with our minds blocked then he will know that Bella can protect others. That will be all proof he needs that Bella would be a major asset.”Kate wasn’t worried about Edward wanting Bella because none of the group was ever going to let Bella be alone again while she was human.

“I like it. We just need to make sure he stays away from Bella.”Tanya like Kate wasn’t really worried about Edward focusing on Bella. With their minds shielded Edward wasn’t a threat.

“You wouldn’t be willing to move in with us would you?”Rosalie wanted Bella close.

“I don’t think my dad would approve of that.”Bella wasn’t against the idea she just knew her dad wouldn’t allow it.

“If we could convince your dad would you move in with them?”Irina like Rosalie wanted Bella close.

“I guess it would be alright. At least if I lived with you guys I wouldn’t have to pretend I don’t talk to ghosts.”Bella would like not having to worry about being caught speaking to a ghost and doing other things.”That and I won’t have to worry about a cop going through my room and finding a bunch of illegal stuff.”

“What kind of illegal stuff?”Kate wanted Bella close to keep her safe and to be involved in all her adventures.

Bella felt very uncomfortable with weighted stares of each member of the group.”Oh you know the normal things teenagers have.”

“What kind of illegal things Bella?”Tanya needed to know exactly what laws Bella was breaking.

Bella looked into Tanya’s black eyes and knew she didn’t have a choice whether or not to answer the question.”All the equipment to make fake documents and ids, my bugler kit, equipment to make fake gems to include diamonds, stuff I need to make fake credit card, some weapons like knives, brass knuckles, a shotgun and a hand gun. There is other stuff as well. The list is to long to say.”

“What?!”Rosalie roared.

“Why do you have guns?”Irina was going to be taking those guns away from Bella the first chance she got.

“Can you teach me how to make fake diamonds?”Kate also wanted to learn about all the other stuff but making fake diamonds would be a cool skill to have.

“Bella will be teaching no one how to make fake diamonds.”Tanya unlike Irina wasn’t going to just take the guns from Bella she was going to go through all of Bella things and taking everything she found inappropriate for her daughter to have. Which Tanya suspected would be more than half of Bella’s belongings.

“They really aren’t that hard to make. The way I was taught is in my opinion is the best because my diamonds and jewels fool most pawn shops and jewelers.”Bella was proud of her work.

“Why were you selling fake diamonds and jewels?”Alice asked.

“No first tell us why you own guns and where you got them.”Rosalie wanted to know who to kill for giving Bella someone who was actively suicidal a gun.

“I don’t always travel to the nicest places and because of that one of the ghost I helped gave me the two guns he owned and taught me how to use them. Remember I lived in Phoenix it wasn’t a safe place for a teenage girl to be traveling by herself. Especially when I was going somewhere after dark. Anyway I only had to threaten a little over half a dozen people with the hand gun. The shotgun I used to scare off a noisy neighbor at a house I was breaking into.”Bella didn’t see what the big deal was.

“You are so fucking cool.”Emmet sent a small prayer of thanks to whatever god put Bella in their lives. He couldn’t wait for all the adventures they were going to go on together in the future.

“Bella shooting a gun at a neighbor of a house she was breaking into was not cool Emmet. She is damn lucky the neighbor didn’t shoot back. Her pulling a gun on people could have gotten her killed!”Irina did not approve of Bella having and using guns at all.

“In my defense those people were trying to attack me. They are the ones who could have been killed.”Bella felt justified in pulling the gun on the people.”As for the neighbor the ghost I was helping told me that was the only to get the guy to leave him alone and a method he used often.”

Tanya pinched the bridge of her nose.”When we get home we are going to talk about what things you can and cannot have. Your guns being something you cannot have.”

“It’s not like I can’t get more.”Bella grumbled.

Kate laughed hearing her sisters and Rosalie growl.”You my dear niece are trouble and I’m all in.”

“Why do you keep calling me your niece?”That wasn’t the first time Bella had heard Kate call her that.

Irina looked to Tanya and got a head nod in reply.”I guess it’s alright to tell you since you know we are vampires. You see Bella there are different types of bonds. One is the mate bond you know about the other is a familiar bond. A familiar bond is when a vampire sees another vampire or human and feels like they are a child of their own body or when a person sees a vampire and feel like they are their parent. Tanya and myself have a familiar bond with you.”

“It makes sense why I feel so naturally comfortable around you. I don’t touch people often but since we got here I haven’t mind you two touching me.”Bella had just thought she was reacting to them because they were Sasha’s children.

“That would be the effects of you feeling the bond. The bond is also the reason for the way Irina and I have been acting as we have towards you. You are still human so you won’t feel the bonds as strongly but for vampires it falls into place as soon as you make eye contact. When I saw you walk out of your house that day I felt like I had been your mother my whole life. That was why I hugged you before we talked. That and vampires communicate though touch. Bond mates feel calm when their bond mates are close and they are touching so that they know they are safe and away from harm.”Tanya explained.

Bella thought back on her interactions with the mated couple.”I think I get it.”

“We don’t expect us to call us mother or anything unless you are comfortable with it. Just know that our instincts are demanding we take care of you in any way you need. Even if you just want us to buy you something. Our vampire side calms when we do things for you so please don’t hesitate to ask us for anything. You doing so feeds our need to make you happy and provide for you.”Irina hoped that Bella would take her up on that offer soon.

“I’ll keep that in mind in the future.”Bella wasn’t sure how comfortable she was having vampire parents but she would give them a chance. They couldn’t help that they bonded to her.

“You do that. Now everyone lets get our shoes on and get out of here. Our flight leaves in four hours and we need to organize everything so we can leave.”Tanya wanted to get everything done and be on their way.

“Bella will you sit next to me on the plane?”Irina asked.

“Sure I can do that.”Bella wouldn’t mind sitting with Irina.

“Great.”Irina was excited to sit next to her daughter. Following the others to get their shoes Irina thought about what was to come. She was not excited about getting involved with an unknown vampire. Especially one that was involved in a false mate claim. The male James likely will not leave without a fight once it was revealed to Victoria that she was being lied to. That meant that Bella was going to be involved in a fight between vampires. Even if Bella herself was not fighting there dozens of ways Bella could get hurt. Tanya was a better fighter than Irina so it would be up to Irina to protect Bella. Rosalie would likely try to help but the Cullens had no skills because they didn’t do any kind of training. The Denali were different. They unlike the Cullens understood that life wasn’t just blending in with humans. It contained many dangers for vampires that they had to be prepared for. Luckily the Denali were prepared. Irina just prayed that Bella would be safe.
