Wow. It looks like the community has effectively saved the sites. Thanks so much for the boosts, retweets, kind words. We had such low expectations for a patreon and are so overwhelmed with the support.

On Jan 1 our ad rates were cut by about 60% (seasonal ad spending). We panicked. After struggling to figure things out and other plans not working we thought it was over over. The Patreon was the last ditch effort. Now, our estimation is that it'll take about 60-90 days for us to clear ourselves of debt. After that we can focus on raising rates for writers and contributors, and expanding roles!

We appreciate everyone here and intend to show it. For what it's worth: there has never been a "good time" economically at Hard Times and Hard Drive which wasn't passed through to those who contribute to the wild big group project that is this site. We intend to keep that track record going if we can keep the community support strong. We're excited to get the site out of the extreme financial distress it's been in for a good little while.
