Faceless Queen 12

“Cullens show yourselves or we will come and drag you out of your home.”Rosalie furrowed her eyebrows hearing the unfamiliar female voice. She wasn’t quite sure how to react until Queenie jumped on her shoulder and meowed in her ear. Taking that as a sign to do as the woman said Rosalie stood from her bed, put on her sword and rushed out of the house lining up with the rest of her family as it seemed they had the same thought as her. Getting a look at the group and the woman in particle Rosalie froze in fear. The red robes would have been enough of a clue but the Volturi crest pendants hanging from chains around each of the five vampire’s neck confirmed that the royal guard had come for them. The blond in particular brought the most fear because based on descriptions Rosalie had heard the woman was Jane the more sadistic half of the witch twins.

“Jane welcome to our home. To what do we owe the pleasure?”Carlisle was hoping if the guard came for them then Isabella wasn’t going to be the one punishing them for whatever charges were being brought against them.

Jane took a moment to look over each member of the coven pausing when she noticed a cat sitting on the blond one’s shoulder.”Wait if you’re here why are we here?”

“What are you talking about?”Edward was very annoyed because all of the guards were somehow blocking his gift.

Jane ignored the question.”How long has Queen Athenodora’s cat been in your possession?”

“This is Isabella’s cat not Queen Athenodora’s.”Rosalie corrected.

“If that cat belongs to anyone it’s Queen Athenodora.”Jane knew exactly who that cat was and knew that Athenodora had it wrapped tightly around her finger getting it to do anything she asked it to.

“Isabella wrote me a letter saying that it was her cat.”Rosalie told her.

“Isabella wrote to you?”Jane didn’t understand anything about this situation.

Rosalie nodded.”She wrote to thank me for taking care of her cat and told me that she liked that I named her Queenie and she was going to call her that from now on.”

“You call the cat Queenie?”Jane laughed. That laugh turned into an eye roll when the cat hissed and swiped its claws at her.”Ooh you are so scary. I’m literally shaking in fear at the sight of you.”

“Do you have a death wish?”Emmett couldn’t believe Jane was talking like that to the cat.

“The cat won’t hurt me.”Jane knew that Isabella would never hurt her. Even in training she went out of her way to never injure Jane.

“Not to call you a liar but we have seen what happens when the cat gets upset and it usually ends with someone gaining scars or having something they own wrecked.”Alice pointed to Edward.

Jane looked at the mind reader smiling brightly at the sight of the many scratches all over his face. He definitely didn’t look like the brooding teenage model anymore.”I see that you upset the cat or based on the fact that Rosalie has Isabella’s sword you did something to Rosalie.”

“I didn’t do anything.”Edward flinched when the cat hissed at him.

“So not only are you pansy but you are liar as well.”Jane knew that Isabella wouldn’t have attacked Edward for no reason and was excited to find out what had transpired while the queen was with the Cullens.

“I’m neither a pansy or a liar.”Edward was highly insulted Jane would call him such a thing.

Jane ignored his denial.”Let’s get back to the matter at hand. How long has the cat been here?”

“About a week and a half. It did leave for four days but it came back.”Rosalie told her.

“Did the cat or Isabella give you the sword?”Jane asked.

“Isabella left the sword and a letter with the cat telling me that she was concerned for my safety and she wanted me to keep the sword with me at all times.”Rosalie explained.

Jane was now piecing together what was going on. She knew all about Isabella’s history and the fact that her species usually had two mates. With her giving Rosalie her sword and sticking around as a cat it made Jane believe that Rosalie was that second mate. Isabella wouldn’t have bothered being around so many people if Rosalie wasn’t.”Alright.”

“What do you mean alright?”Carlisle wanted to know what Jane was thinking as she had a look of understanding on her face as she looked between Rosalie and the cat.

“Now then as to why we are here.”Jane ignored Carlisle as well.”We have taken care of the newborns and Victoria.”

“Thank god.”Fran mumbled. She was not looking forward to that fight.

“With them out of the way we are here to take your entire coven to Italy to be put on trial for your various crimes.”Jane explained.

“We have committed no crimes.”Edward once again flinched when the cat hissed.

Jane chuckled.”There are you lying again.”

“I’m not a liar and you have no proof of any crimes being committed.”Edward knew that the guard and the queens had nothing on them.

“It’s not my job to collect evidence this time. It’s my job to collect you.”Jane figured that Isabella collected evidence for more than just the crime of not reporting the newborns if she had spent so much time with the coven.

“What are the crimes we are being accused of?”Carlisle needed to know so he could work on a proper defense before they reached the castle.

Jane shrugged.”I don’t know. The queens simply told me to kill the newborns and collect your coven.”

“You can’t take us without telling us what we are being charged with.”Edward said.

“I can do whatever I want. Now are you all going to come willingly or do we have to use force?”Jane preferred force.

“I need to take Angela home before we leave.”Edward told her.

“The queen requested the human specifically.”Jane wasn’t sure what for but would bring her.

“I will come willingly if Angela goes free.”Edward didn’t want his mate caught up with the queens again.

“That’s not how this works. So what’s it going to be?”Jane asked.

Angela could see that Edward was going to argue and knowing how much Jane could hurt him she put her hand on his arm to stop him from speaking further.”I’ll go willingly.”

“Angela you can’t.”Edward wouldn’t allow it.

“Nothing good will come out of fighting them. Remember last time you tried?”Angela still had nightmares about her time in the castle.

“They just got lucky because I was emotional.”Edward knew he could win a fight against the guards. Especially with the help of his family and Isabella’s sword.

“As much as I would love to have a rematch the queens want you all brought to them in one piece and if we don’t get on our way soon the cat is going to get annoyed and kill you all which will cause the queens to punish me for not keeping it under control.”Jane said.

“They think you can actually control the cat?”Alice didn’t think anyone or anything could control the cat.

“The cat isn’t a threat unless you piss it off. Which makes it my job to step in before it gets to that point. Now who needs incentive to join us?”Jane really needed to get moving because the cat was looking rather irritated.

“We will go willingly.”Fran didn’t want her or Emmett to be targeted.

“Us as well.”Jasper definitely didn’t want to fight the guards.

“I will as well.”Esme said.

“I go where the cat goes.”Rosalie would follow her cat’s lead on how to handle this situation. That meant if the cat wanted to go to the castle Rosalie would go to the castle.

Carlisle made eye contact with Edward sharing his thoughts of making a plan on the plane and manipulating the queens when they got to the throne room. Getting a nod in reply he turned his attention to Jane.”I will go willingly.”

“We will too.”Edward would use the time on the plane with Carlisle to work out the perfect plan. With both of them brainstorming the queens would be no match for them.

“Good all of you follow the guards. Rosalie you walk next to me.”Jane was going to make sure that Rosalie had the extra protection.

“Alright.”Rosalie wasn’t sure why Jane wanted her close but she felt safe with the cat on her shoulder to protect her.

Making sure everyone was doing as they were told Jane made her way to the back of the formation taking her place walking next to Rosalie.”So what trouble has the cat caused since you’ve had it?”

“The first thing it did was shred all Edward’s sheet music, then it peed on every single key of his half a million dollar antique piano.”Rosalie smiled when Jane laughed.

“Edward must have really pissed it off.”Jane could easily imagine Edward antagonizing Isabella.

“He has been very disrespectful to myself, the cat, Isabella and the queens. All of those being the cat’s triggers.”Rosalie told her.

Jane took that as confirmation that Rosalie was mated to Isabella.”I can easily see it acting out for those reasons.”

“Edward was her only target initially but then it started going after Carlisle. It left the rest of the coven alone.”Rosalie was relieved that the cat had taken a shine to her family.”As a matter of fact Isabella sent it on a mission to get myself and my siblings except for Edward new identification and set us up with bank accounts so that we no longer have to rely on Carlisle. She even bought us a house with a bunch of land near our cousins so we don’t have to stay with the Cullens.”

“Both the cat and Isabella have a heart of gold. No matter what people seem to think.”When the cat hissed at her Jane reached out a hand and petted its head.

Rosalie watched in shock as the cat didn’t attack Jane.”You are the first person other than myself who the cat has let touch it.”

“I have spent a lot of time with the cat over the years and we have grown rather close.”Jane cherished her closeness with Isabella. Isabella being the only one who could pull Jane out of the darkness when it overwhelmed her.

“Do you know what kind of species it is?”Rosalie figured if Jane knew the cat then she might know what kind of supernatural it was.

“I do however I can’t tell you because I know that Isabella would be very upset with me if I spilled the secret. Besides I have a feeling you will be finding out very soon.”Jane suspected that Isabella would be in the throne room for the trial and Rosalie would find out then.

“I guess I can wait then.”Rosalie didn’t want to wait but wouldn’t push Jane.”Why does Isabella say it’s her cat when you said it’s really Queen Athenodora’s?”

“It’s now officially your cat as well.”Jane said.

“Why do you say that?”Rosalie asked.

“It seems quite taken with you and you with it. I don’t think that either of you would want to be separated for long periods of time.”Jane knew that Rosalie wouldn’t want to be away from her mate.

“I am quite taken with her.”Rosalie wasn’t ashamed to admit it either.

“You and the queen will likely have to work out a visitation schedule for it.”Jane told her.

“The queen would actually let me have partial custody of her cat?”Rosalie didn’t expect the queen to even let her see the cat let alone have visitation.

“I think you will find that because of the cat’s affection for you that not only will Queen Athenodora do all she can do to make you happy but Sulpicia and Didyme as well.”Jane knew that the queens would want do all the could to make Rosalie want to live at the castle so that they could see Isabella more.

“All because the cat likes me?”Rosalie was very confused why the queens would want her happy.

“That cat holds a lot power in more than just vampire society. It also holds power in shifter society and human society. Anyone it claims like it claimed you and me are treated very well by all those who know it and especially by those that fear it. Which is almost everyone it comes into contact with.”Jane was treated like a royal and was given more privileges than the other guard members could ever dream of. Including her own wing in the castle. All because Isabella made Jane a member of her pack.

“I would say you are lying but from the random things that I’ve witnessed the cat involved with I know you are telling the truth. I mean the cat bought a car and had it delivered to our house.”A car that Rosalie was completely in love with and exceeded all her expectations of what the car would be like from all those years of dreaming about it.

“It actually bought a car?”Jane asked.

“Yeah then rode in the delivery truck to get it to our house.”Rosalie told her.

“That is very surprising as the cat usually hate traveling in vehicles.”Jane had many fights with Isabella about taking a plane to go long distances. Heaven forbid if she suggest they use a car. Isabella would refuse to even ride in it let alone drive one.

“Really? She has been fine the times I’ve driven with her on my lap.”Rosalie didn’t think the cat had minded riding in the car with her.

“I can’t wait to the tell the queens about this.”Jane caught the cat’s paws in her hand when it made a swipe at her.”Don’t even try it. You know if you leave a mark Didyme will be very upset with you.”

“You really aren’t afraid of the cat are you?”Rosalie couldn’t believe how easily Jane handled the cat.

Jane shook her head.”It is just acting tough to impress you. She won’t hurt me.”

“I don’t think the cat has to act. It is just naturally tough.”Rosalie smiled when Queenie rubbed her head on Rosalie’s cheek and began purring.

Jane chuckled at the sight.”Oh yes that purr would bring her enemies to their knees.”

“I think it’s cute.”Rosalie loved when the cat purred.

“Now I know for a fact the cat claimed you because if it hadn’t and you had called it cute it would have ripped your face apart.”Jane had seen Isabella do worse when one of her forms was called cute.

“Well it’s a good thing it claimed me because I claimed it as well.”Rosalie loved the cat more than anything she ever had before and doubted she would love like that again. It made her very happy that the queens wouldn’t force her to give up Queenie when they made it to the castle. Rosalie didn’t think she would be able to survive without the cat.

“When we get on the plane you are welcome to use the small lounge in the back of the plane. It has an entreatment center, a bed, a love seat and a bar with shelves filled with blood and food. The blood is human. If I had known about your bond with the cat I would have provided animal. The food is for the cat. I don’t know what you have been feeding it but it can eat anything. Not just things for cats. What’s available on the shelves are its favorite.”Jane now understood why Didyme had the plane stocked with food for Isabella.

“I’ll use it.”Rosalie had never been in a private lounge on a plane. It would be nice to be out of the stressful situation and to get the cat some food as Rosalie hadn’t fed it for the day yet.

“I’ll let you know when it’s time to land but if you need anything come get me. The room is sound proof so I won’t hear you if the door is closed.”Jane told her.

“Thanks.”Rosalie said. Stopping at the back of the group Rosalie waited while everyone boarded thinking about the situation she found herself in. The Volturi sent the royal guard for them. Something that should have her being afraid for her life. Instead she was excited to go to the castle because she would finally get to meet Isabella and learn more about her cat. Her cat that belong to Queen Athenodora who Rosalie was going to have to work out a custody arrangement with. Jane said that all three queens would go out of her way to make her happy but Rosalie was worried that she wouldn’t be able to stand up to them with them having all the power. At least she knew that the cat would fight for her. It had proven many times over that it wouldn’t put up with someone trying to step all over her. Rosalie shook off her worry for the time being. She was getting the chance to experience a private lounge on a plane and feed her cat all her favorite foods. That was what she was going to focus on and worry about the queens when they got to the castle.
